Trisha | 30284 comments Finished story one: Goddess Queen

wow, that was crazy. I guess I don't know enough about Mythology to know if this is accurate or not....but

(view spoiler)

Hades though(view spoiler)

and then when Persephone (view spoiler) I was so sad...because we know how that story goes, right?! :(

Hades (view spoiler)

message 13: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new) - rated it 3 stars

Trisha | 30284 comments okay, finished story 2: The Lovestruck Goddess

wow, the story of Aphrodite.

eek, I wouldn't want her choice! lol

message 14: by Kathy (last edited May 20, 2013 10:17AM) (new) - rated it 3 stars

Kathy | 7669 comments Of finished Goddess Queen

I wondered if (view spoiler)

Yeah Hades (view spoiler)

Hera (view spoiler)

I don't know that much either, but I'm sure the author took some liberties or at least I wouldn't be surprised. I do love the different POVs though, it's interesting to see the decisions they made that shaped who they became in the books #1 and #2.

message 15: by Trisha, lives on coffee (last edited May 20, 2013 10:21AM) (new) - rated it 3 stars

Trisha | 30284 comments Man, 1st spoiler.
that is a really good point. I wondered why he stayed under ground.
I think maybe he always knew he couldn't/wouldn't make Hera happy. But I also wonder if he waited for her instead. he let Zeus have a chance and stayed away - but she could have gone down there too. She could have chose him......she didn't UNTIL Zeus had destroyed her.
Maybe he just always knew she could love him if only.... ya know?? He thought he just wasn't quite enough to keep her happy either.

wasn't Hades sweet. He was so gentle. My heart skipped a beat or two when he held Hera's face and told her he wouldn't betray her marriage vows because that wasn't her. And no matter what, he wouldn't let her change who she was. Ugh, so so so sweet. Where is this guy in our books! LOL!

I hope we see this in The Goddess Inheritance but I guess we have seen it a little. In his gentle handling and distance - respecting he's not sure she wants to be there. But honestly, ugh! I want to see more of Hades in the last book.

My favorite moment of ALL these books is STILL the hot chocolate scene in book one :) but I hated when he was so mad and awful after (even though we understand more of they why later in the books...because of Persephone)

Yes, I think that was my favorite too. And I did love that he wouldn't let her forsake her vows and I can only hope that he's that sweet and gentle in book #3, especially with the baby!! :D

It's hard to say what his affection for her was exactly because it could go either way.

I'm almost done with The Lovestruck Goddess.

Kathy | 7669 comments Ok finished The Lovestruck Goddess

Ok (view spoiler) But yeah I wouldn't want that choice either.

Eros was so cute! Making flower chains and looking for shells! lol :)

message 18: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new) - rated it 3 stars

Trisha | 30284 comments Ugh, it turned my stomach too. I just .....I couldn't. I'm just built to be a one guy kind of girl. And now that I'm older, I agree with what her dad said. That kind of intense "burn down the world" kind of love - it doesn't last.

I'm so sad they are going to share her...just...ugh.

Eros was adorable! But wow, these women while holding their babies and freaking out and scaring them! I was nervous for the infants in every story! Jeez!

I know I was thinking the same thing, I mean it's no wonder why Ares turned out the way he did. He's so angry, ok he's the god of war, but the way Hera was so furious with Zeus it was like her fury seeped into Ares while she was holding him and yelling at Zeus.

message 20: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new) - rated it 3 stars

Trisha | 30284 comments Goddess of the Under- world

oh gah. I don't want to read ANY MORE Persephone.
I think part one and two are pretty well summed up with this quote

(view spoiler)

boo! reading her two parts were painful. She's so selfish I could hardly readit!

ugh, and there's a part three.
I can't get done with her part quick enough :(

message 21: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new) - rated it 3 stars

Trisha | 30284 comments lol it was so bad, I downloaded book 1 from my library and just reread the two hotchocolate parts :) just for something happier....

Kathy | 7669 comments LOL Trisha!! Yes! It was soooooooooo bad! I thought I hated her in Goddess Interrupted (Goddess Test, #2) by Aimee Carter but I really can't stand her now. She was a whinny, selfish brat, but Aphrodite was no better and Demeter! She told Persephone that she would visit her in the underworld but she never did.

I do feel that they should have had the wedding when she was older at least. And telling her that she would wed him from the time she understood what marriage meant, they doomed them from the beginning.

Also I guess we now know why Demeter and Hades was so afraid that if they were doing the right thing. I always wondered why they were hesitant or reluctant in letting her choose to stay with him and make her own decisions.

message 23: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new) - rated it 3 stars

Trisha | 30284 comments yes, I understand their reluctance so much more. I even understand Hades' hesitation to let her in at all. Persephone is just sooooo awful. She even knows she's selfish and she just...can't seem to stop doing horrible things.

well, glad that's over

On to God of Thieves

Kathy | 7669 comments I wanted to ask you about when happened in Goddess Interrupted when Persephone crawled in his lap and kissed him and Kate saw the whole thing. Did she do that to prove to him that she still didn't love him because there wasn't any feeling there? I can't remember what he told Kate about that, also I thought that Persephone was so different then too. She seemed more confident I guess. but she would be I guess because she's older? I don't know, I just thought she was really different in book #2, still a selfish brat but different.

Inger | 241 comments Yep, she wanted to proof to him that they both didn't feel anything during that kiss..a bit confusing but hey I don't mind the drama :D
By the way how do you two like it so far? I loved the different stories :)

Just read the spoiler when you finished the book
(view spoiler)

Kathy | 7669 comments The first 2 were good, I liked seeing a different perspective for Hera and Aphrodite, but it still didn't change my opinion of them. For me it only shed some light on situations that happened in books #1 and #2 just like in Persephone's story.

The one I really want to read is the last one God of Darkness, I'm hoping it will give us a glimpse of what's going on with him after he finds out about Kate at the end of book #2 and leading into The Goddess Inheritance (Goddess Test, #3) by Aimee Carter !! I'm so anxious for that book! :)

Ugh! That was the worst part of the last book.
I cried, that was so horrible for Kate to go through!

Yes, Persephone ends up telling Kate that, had she stuck around, she would have seen that both Henry & she agreed that that kiss and who Persephone was...was not what he remembered. At least that's what I got out of it - Persephone telling Kate that she was forcing Henry to realize that kissing her wasn't like kissing Kate. That he was still hung up on a girl that never existed (and a love that was not true).

I know! I can't wait for God of Darkness!

I'm in the middle of God of Thieves and I kind of don't want to hear James' side (after he tricked her and left with Kate in 1.5 and made Henry believe they might be "together" when they were away all summer :[ ) I was so mad at him for that.....

Kathy | 7669 comments Me too! I'm almost done with God of Thieves and I'm and so far I feel like the others it's shedding some light on his character, but that's whole point I think. And I haven't read The Goddess Hunt but I remember that he did make Henry think that they were together during the summer and I was sooooo mad!

I can't wait for book #3!! :)

Kathy | 7669 comments ok finished God of Thieves

I liked it because it told why they had different names and how they came up with them. I liked Tuck and the boys, I'm surprised...just a little...that Hades refused Hermes request. Not the letting him see her part...that I'm not surprised...the not giving her the pendant part and I wanted to know what the story was behind the pendant. I suspect it was Tuck's mother's and the earl wanted only because it would be a bane to Tuck, she would hate it so much and he would revel in it. I was sad that she died, and cursing the earl like that was pretty funny.

I'll probably read God of Darkness tomorrow cause I need to started on some other books, :)

message 30: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new) - rated it 3 stars

Trisha | 30284 comments I was surprised he didn't let James see Tuck. I was floored. I mean, I guess it makes sense, but it shifts a little, my view of Hades.

I hope the next story reveals more about Henry/Hades.
*sigh* I'm so ready...

I'm finishing this today only because I have so many going! LOL! :D

message 33: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new) - rated it 3 stars

Trisha | 30284 comments wow, I'm done

let me know when you are and we can discuss the last story *sigh* I loved it!

Kathy | 7669 comments AWWWW! That was so sweet!! I didn't remember until, but you reminded me! Oh I love God of Darkness! I love to see from the guy's POV when he sees the girl for the first time or at a moment when he sees her differently than he has before, that is my favorite moment in a book!

And he let Hermes see Tuck!! He is so sweet and kind, and I can not believe after he let him see her and then he goes makes Hades think that him and Kate had something going on in the summer!

I can not wait to read The Goddess Inheritance! I wonder whose POV it will be from.

I saw a little bit of your post for God of Darkness and I had to finish it tonight! lol :)

message 35: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new) - rated it 3 stars

Trisha | 30284 comments lol Yay! I'm so glad you loved it!

I know, I can't believe James tricked him after Henry let him see Tuck :( makes me so sad....

I'm so read for The Goddess Inheritance!!!
I can't wait! I've been so good and I haven't read any reviews or anything on it so nothing is revealed before I read it!!!

Kathy | 7669 comments I know! It's so hard not to do that, like trying not to watch every single trailer and promo for my latest book made into a movie! lol :)
