President Barack Obama has come under pressure to intervene in Syria after the White House and British officials claimed to have evidence that the Assad regime had used the nerve agent sarin as a weapon in the country’s conflict.

Qubitng 1. I don't get it. Why does the US have to act? Why not France? Italy? Norway? Your enemy's enemy isn't necessarily your friend; which has been shown time and time and time again in the Middle East ever since Afghanistan vs Soviet Union.
2. And the use of sarin (if it was truly used) was determined from a small sample from soil. How can they tell that was delivered by the Syrian govt and not released (on accident or on purpose) by someone else?

The drums of war...louder every day. There's an appetite; has always been. Will not stop until the drummers have had their way

Robert Zwilling It is chemical weapons there is no doubt about that. Accidental it is not. The only question is who is doing it. The answer ranges from a third party not directly involved to any and all sides involved.

Frank Klus (ftklus) For us to start bombing Syria and killing people is no way to respond to a chemical attack. It will only make a bad situation worse. I know we're going to do it anyway and I think it stinks.

Robert Zwilling The world runs on money, you just need to freeze all their assets held in foreign countries. But that is against one of the money religion's commandments, steal from the poor, protect the rich.

Lisa (lisarosenbergsachs) | 424 comments I still have hope that Congress will vote against this. I think that Pres. Obama hopes so as well. I'm e-mailing my Senators and Congresswoman and urging them to vote NO!! This can only lead to harm. I implore you all to do the same.

Mimi V (naomi_v) | 432 comments i am sick about this. i wrote to my senator and he still voted (in committee) for this.

how many years has it been since Eisenhower warned us about the military industrial complex? wiser words were never spoken. I can't help but think that this strike on Syria is more about making money (for arms manufacturers and the people that own stock -- for instance, politicians) than it is about protecting the citizens of Syria.
