Thoughts after "The Elite": Team Maxon or Team Aspen?

That could be or she could just live in the castle and work as Maxon`s adviser. But I think that Maxon might not like her as much when he figures out that America has been cheating with him this whole time. And she has been yelling at him the whole time, while he coulnd`t yell at her becasue he didn`t know that America was cheating with Aspen.
I honestly will be so pissed if America ends up with Maxon. From the start I really really liked Aspen. Although Aspen broke up with America he did it with his best intentions FOR HER. Then later in the book Aspen returns and wants to get back with America because again he loves her and now he really can provide for her. Maxon I liked at times but he really didn't cut it for me and in Elite he really pisses me off. Why is he messing around with Celest and all the other girls when he keeps saying he loves America. I mean I get it that he's trying to find a wife but all the stuff he did with those other girls was not necessary and was no excuse. It just bothers me how he doesn't trust America when he doesn't tell America about all his business either. Just Aspen seems better for America. Although he was being selfish with the whole sneaking around to be with America thing but I think he does that mostly because he is trying to win America back and wants to make it up to her for breaking her heart. I just think he's acting so desperate to get her back that he does stupid shit like risking both of their lives . But gah I just don't like Maxon
There's something keeping me with Maxon. I don't know what it is, maybe the fact that Aspen was a total jerk at the beginning of The Selection.

I cant exactly say because the relashinship between her and Aspen is so romantic they couldnt be together before th selection but they were anyway an then he still tries to get her back even with having the unfair advantage with Maxon being the dang prince.But then Maxon gives her what she could never give herself and her family and they share a connection.An dwho wouldnt wanna be a PRINCESS

I was all team maxon in book one, he was sweet and funny and said all the right things and then came aspen in book two and won me over and it didn't help that maxon was getting very friendly with the girls while still swearing he loved America and wanted to marry her. I mean u just don't do that if u think u found the one. Idk that's where my head is after that books end......
The reason he was all friendly with the other girls was because he had to. America was being such a ... something because she wouldnt just say yes to him! He needed to explore, which I totoly dont agree with but I would too if I was Maxon and liked a girl like America, I would explore cuz the chic is not being...she has her eyes closed! I just need to read The One and I'll feel better.
:) i totally agree....... i thought we would get a choice instead, we another book with them going back and forth again. I love the books but i hate the waiting!!

Book one i was team maxon, but now I am team aspen, who I really really don't like, just cause maxon has been annoying, but mostly cause I can't stand america screwing any more things up (she has screwed a lot up) so I think It would all be simpler if she just left maxon and the country alone and quietly married aspen, cause if she doesn't marry maxon she might as well have someone

Thank you :) I just started writing about everything that happened in the book and it turned into a huge rant session!
I am not sure who I am for now. I started out Team Aspen then when he broke her heart I was like burn for that mean man. So enter Maxon and I was like yeah she is gonna fall in love and he was so sweet and I was all TEAM MAXON. But now I am not sure. I am so torn and I think I am just gonna be Team America. LOL Hurry up book I need to know what happens.

I think part of her jealousy is because she didn't realize just how much feelings she had for Maxon, and really was just starting to understand when they had the conversation about her jealousy. Even Aspen didn't realize how much her feeling had changed until the end when she pretty much told him she wasn't just going to wait around for him, and wanted to fight for Maxon.
I also feel that Maxon is trying his best to change his country, but people don't realize just how controlling his father is being. I mean, if his father had it his way he would still rule and be in control but just had Maxon as the figure head so the leader looked young and powerful. I can't stand the way his father treats him, and he acts that because Maxon's personality is more like his mothers, that he is weak and unable to rule. I actually feel that it is those very characteristics that would make him a good leader.
I think i am in the minority who don't hate aspen, i was team maxon all the way in the selection, but after the elite not so much. I just don't reallly like him any more, for me its Aspen, but I hope Maxon changes in the one!

His childhood and any chance at a regular life was taken from him. And Aspen grew up with a loving family although their life was hard.
Such a push and pull between America and Maxon make me. ughhhhh. how will I put that in words. But no matter what I will be on Maxon's side I mean Prince Maxon's side. Yeah,there some stupid stunts that Maxon did, but he did that with a purpose if only America try to understand him it would not turn out into a mess. For all the stupid things that happened, it is not only Prince Maxon to be blamed.

You took the EXACT words out of my mouth. I could not agree more. The more "obvious" choice in the beginning was for her to pick Aspen. As I reader, I expected that she would fall for Maxon to a certain degree and enjoy having her world opened up to new experiences, but eventually choose Aspen because he was her "true love." She'd return to him because she didn't need material items or a high station to be happy, she just needed love.
But I think the "change" the author referred to is that she realized America would in fact end up with Maxon. There is also the fact that it wouldn't be nearly as strong of a book series if the author took us on a journey that ended up in the exact place it began. That doesn't mean America loved Aspen any less than the author originally intended, but instead that America grew up more than she expected. I think she came to see that there was real character development over time and that there was more to the story than just two teenagers in love. Maxon is the one who brings out America's true potential and makes her realize she was meant to do great things.
I think the author was implying that she herself realized there was more to America than just unwavering loyalty to her first love. That perhaps she realized America would pick the person who needed her more--the one with whom she would have a more fulfilling and vibrant life.
I was so ticked off! In the first book , I realized ai despised Aspan , so I was team Maxon , but after The Elite , I seriously don't know , dude , that was a low blow Maxon! I'll have to wait for The One to make up my mind.
When Maxon feel for Kriss... oh god i was so hurt. I said very mean things about Kriss. When he ya knowed with Celeste... I guess i was surprised but not so hurt. Im beginning to lose hope with Maxon... And Aspen is really sweet. I dont get why everyone is so mean about him. I mean I dont think either guys should really get her at this point... BUT WHY IS AMERICA SO INDECISIVE, SHE HAS THE CRAZIEST FREAKING MOOD SWINGS!!!! PISSES ME OFF. I dont know. I guess Im STILL (after everything that has happened) go with Maxon... because she could help him rule even though the brat America (although i love her always honest opinion to death) doesnt believe in herself

I agree i was into Maxon then change my mind to Aspen because he is so sweet and I love his unconditional love.
Well, the only reason Maxon goes to Kriss is because he is suppose to! He pretty much already said he loved America and America him-she just doesnt want to admit it which annoys and frustrates me. Aspen is sweet and he does Mer, I wont disagree with that. BUT! Maxon is too. He took a beating/whipping for her. He's always so sweet and he already likes her and admitted it at the "Halloween" Ball. I honestly dont know why its taking 3 books for her to decide (America). Maxon forever
Both of them annoy me now but still team Maxon even though he has part of the blame for everything. Everyone blames America but I blame both of them. I also hate how he didn't propose at the end and finish the selection or at the Halloween party. Like Maxon you have her just prepose and end the selection because I want to see how you two change the country. If the next book is just going to end with Maxon choosing a girl and we don't see them change the country I'm going to be mad.
Me too. What if he proposes halfway and the end is them changing the country. Thats like a stretch but Id love it. Or...theres a fourth book...ohh thatd be fun. And in that book, they change the country. Either way, Im still gonna love The One.

Sometimes when I read these comments, I wonder if people have even read the book -_- I mean, it's pretty clear what horrendous wrong-doings have been committed by Maxon, and the whole dooley-dally as to why its unfathomable. also the fact that Aspen is n't right for America, and his various annoying traits (he has had has "sweet" moments nonetheless) are as clear as midnight ink on pale parchment. I have made my argument- in vast detail- previously. Shan't repeat it.Btw: Team Maxon ;D

My heart breaks a little at the thought of Aspen being left behind when it's clear how much he loves and has sacrificed for America. The love between them is very sweet. But the truth is that the love between America and Maxon is just so much more--it matters more.
In my eyes, Aspen was her First Love, and Maxon is her Great Love.
Team Maxon, I stayed cause I still want America to end up with Maxon and not Aspen.Though I really wish that America tells Maxon how she feels about him because if she doesn't then I think that Kriss is going to end up with him and I really don't want that.
I'm on Team Maxon. After what he did to stand up to his dad, he's a pretty good guy. But Aspen. . . I don't hate him. But I'm not with him either. He rejected America because he didn't want her to do things for him. He was too. . . confident. Then after the names were announced, he decided,"Oh. I was an idiot. I think I'm gonna make it worse by joining the solider people and trying to win her from a prince" -_- At the last part of the Elite, I was furious. You don't force a girl to love you. Maxon and America earned their trust. What did Aspen do? Waltz in and try to take her back. Enough said.

I don't dislike Aspen, but I think he needs to mind his own business and let America do what he himself sent her off to do. He is endangering both America and himself. America continueing to let Aspen into her room and her life kind of makes me want to shout at her. Aspen interferes with America's mind and feelings which creates problems for her when he sent her there in the first place. That said, occasionally I've wondered if Maxon is looking for an equal partnership or a backup sidekick. That scene at the end with Kriss was rough, but, I can't help but think that America kind of deserved it. Maybe in the third book she'll start fighting through the competition like the fighter she supposedly is.
Go Team Maxon!!!! Make the right choice and pick America, Maxon.

Brittany, Angst is a feeling of deep anxiety or dread, typically an unfocused one about the human condition or the state of the world in general. Another word for it is anxiety. You can find anything on google, haha just kidding.
I also wonder why I like America so much. She's so frustrating and she makes me so...mad sometimes. Yet, she's one of my favorite YA female characters. I do hope she comes to her senses. if she doesnt, like Brittany said, it will change how I view the series. I really need to read The One! I cant stand all this suspense!
