I need sources!

Hi! I'm starting to write a story based in Kentucky. I've never been, never known anyone from there, and I need information. I need the history, the difference in culture between the regions, their common actions, events, mannerisms, sayings, etc.
Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone knew a few good sites for that? Or if anyone was from Kentucky themselves or had written something based there and wouldn't mind answering some of my questions.

Thanks! I've actually been debating on where exactly to put my character, in either Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, etc.
