You Can Help Me Reach My Goodreads Goals (contest)!

Hi group members,
I've set a couple of Goodreads goals for myself, and you can help me reach them. And, to encourage participation, I will award a free autographed copy of my new June release, Fatal Descent to one of the people who helped me reach my goals, once they are met. Here are the goals and what you need to do to enter the contest:

1. Raise the number of my Goodreads fans to 250. If you are not currently a fan, become a fan and let me know by making a comment on this topic. That's a contest entry! If you're already a fan, convince a Goodreads friends to become a fan, then give me their name in a comment on this topic. That's also an entry!

2. Raise the number of reviews for my previous release, Wicked Eddies to 20. If you haven't already posted a review for the book, please read it and post one, then let me know that you've done so in a comment on this topic. That's a contest entry!

Thanks Beth, I love your books; Claire is so funny how she get herself in the messes that she get in. When, start reading, can't put it down, until I am on the last page. I going to see if my library has " Wicked Eddies"; So, I can read it, got my fingers cross, that how I read my books. I live on fix income, so my funds are limited.My two great kids & their family buy me books on special days. I will try to get some fans, for you.

Thanks, Teresa, for your praise of my books! If your library doesn't have a copy of Wicked Eddies on their shelves, ask them if they can get a copy on interlibrary loan for you. And, be sure to let me know if you get me any fans, as that translates into contest entries, too!

Yeah! One of my goals has been met, with 250 fans, but you can still become a fan and enter the contest. That's because the other goal, 20 reviews for Wicked Eddies, is still yet to be met. It's gotten one more review, so we just need 5 more to close the contest. In the meantime, this contest is still open to new entries!

Thanks so much, Gabby! I will tell you that my editor and I both categorize my RM Outdoor Adventures series as soft-boiled, not cozy. My Claire Hanover gift basket designer series is categorized as cozy, though.

Okay, women and any guys I may have missed seeing. Beth needs 3 more reviews to complete her goal. That's just a measly THREE. Are we going to allow this goal to go unmet for only THREE more reviews?? It's very difficult to do what authors do -- I know I can't do it. I've tried, and trust me, I'm horrible at it. So when I see an up and coming author with talent struggling to fulfill her dream of being published AND read, I want to help. I mean, I'm going to have my nose in a book anyway, so why not read a new author? That's how I found She's Come Undone by Wally Lamb. Before Oprah, and best seller listings. So who says Beth's series can't be the next best series in the mystery genre? But people have to know about it, and word of mouth does a great job when even big smashing ad campaigns don't. So: are we readers or not? (Lemme hear a YES! We are!) Can we come up with a teeny, tiny 3 more reviews? OF COURSE we can. We just put on our big girl panties, and get this done! Anyone who would like some help doing a review, message me. I can't write a review for someone else, nor would I, but I can help anyone who might feel awkward about doing this. Hey, Beth, Please remove my submission for entry in this contest. Of course, my reviews stand, but I got tired of waiting for peeps to submit reviews for your books. I just visited Amazon and bought the new one. While I was there I also checked out the next Basket mystery due to be released in November. I would have entered a preorder, but all Amazon is showing is the hardcover version. Do you know if there will be a Kindle version, because that's what I prefer. If it turns out there is no Kindle version, I'll preorder what's available. I'm truly puzzled about why more reviews were not forthcoming here. I enjoyed your books very much, and while I don't usually jump in so quickly to buy up an author with whom I'm not very familiar, I certainly wasn't disappointed with what I read of you. The series you've done are developing very nicely, and I look forward to seeing where you take these characters. Anyway, in choosing your winner, eliminate me from the choices. As for the Amazon listing for A BASKET OF TROUBLE, the book will be coming out simultaneously in trade paperback and ebook. For some reason, it takes Amazon and Barnes & Noble longer to get the Kindle/Nook listings for books up than the paperback.

I know writing reviews takes work, so it's taking longer to meet the 20 reviews for WICKED EDDIES goal than the 250 fans goal, as I suspected. The reviews are slowly trickling in, though, so I hope to award a prize soon!

I have all your other books, Beth, so my thought was to withdraw and give someone else a chance to win. I get impatient about books if I want to read them, and I had a feeling I wouldn't be able to wait for the outcome of the contest. I've started FATAL DESCENT, and although I'm not very far into it, I've gotta tell you that I'm liking it very much. I do like your style, Beth, and in this one you've given me the impression I'm getting together with old friends. I'm glad I didn't wait to see the outcome of the contest. :-)
