I honestly think Harry Potter is already set in our minds that his a good guy , so imagining him as an evil guy would be hard , since our imagination is clearly made up , and Harry Potter to me is better just staying the way he is , it completes the whole story , without him i don't think this book would of turned out the way it did.

If Harry went into Slytherin I think he still would have been friends with Ron and Hermione. In my opinion nothing would have changed.

I think that he would have then been a nobody, except an icon of the Voldemort. It's made pretty clear that he isn't truly exceptional in his magical abilities. It's his courage, and his love that made him who he was in the end.

Without that, he would have just been another pawn to Voldemort. Or he would have been killed by Voldemort if he challenged him. Overall, it wouldn't have made for a very interesting story.
