SOLVED. A children's book set in Saskatchewan about a German immigrant family [s]

This children's book is set in Saskatchewan and is about a German immigrant family with 2 girls. Their father is a carpenter who builds houses for other families but they live in a tent. During the story they move to a soddie and eventually a house (I think). There is a prairie grass fire in there too.
