Charlie | 46 comments Is it just me that posts all of my reviews collectively? I do them in groups. I just do not remember to post them as soon as I finish a book. I usually read a few then post. How do others do this?

Christopher Preiman | 347 comments I usually don't write a revue unless i really feel i have something to say about a book. However when i do write one it's usually within an hour or two of finishing. If i don't i become less likely to do it at all.

Tim | 380 comments If I don't write a review within a day or two, then I'm probably not going to.

I enjoy writing reviews, even if only a few people read/like them. I do mine right away simply because I want to get my thoughts down while they are fresh.

I read too many books these days to let reviews pile up.

Dara (cmdrdara) | 2702 comments I try to put my thoughts down as I read it when I update my progress so I can write a review at a later date, if I want to. Don't always write a review though.

Cliff | 69 comments I've really enjoyed using GoodReads to track my reading habits and record my thoughts on each book that I've read. So, I often try to write a review almost immediately after I finish the book. If I held off and tried to write several reviews at once, I'd be afraid that I was confusing events in those books.

Candice Nunu (nunu_noodles) | 52 comments I don't write reviews, just a little snippet in the comments which is probably more to remind myself of why I gave it the rating I did. :)

Gary Writing a review helps me organize my thoughts, and, in the long run, digest what I read a little more effectively than does just picking up the next book in the stack.

I usually will take a few notes as I'm reading, highlight nice (or not-so-nice) passages as I come across them, and will occasionally sit down and write a few paragraphs of a review in my journal as I read. I try to complete and post a review of a book within a day or two after finishing it, just because it's fresh in my mind.

Sometimes, I'll mull over a review for a little while. Having just finished Gormenghast by Peake, for example, I feel I need to think that one over for a bit while before sitting down to reflect upon it in a review. I went ahead and gave it 4 stars... but I'm still processing that one, so I haven't written out a review.

Jenny (Reading Envy) (readingenvy) | 2898 comments I usually mark things I want to mention or include so I can wait a few days to write a review if needed. And sometimes a book deserves some mulling before review, especially if I feel like I hate it.

Paul (latepaul) I write my full review on my blog but I tend to get behind. I'm two books behind at the moment. What helps is that when I finish a book I always mark it done on GR, rate it and then try to always put something in the review box. Usually it's just quick impressions but it often helps when writing a proper review. I do sometime go back and update the GR review later.

I always intend to do it more quickly but...

terpkristin | 4407 comments I try to post reviews when I finish books, but I only post reviews for books I've read since joining GR. Occasionally I might post a few comments about books from my misspent youth, but I try to post at least a few words about each book I read now. Books I read for SFFaudio get a fairly standard-form review.

kvon | 563 comments I like to wait a day or two after finishing a book, to let it settle into my mind, before posting a review. The purpose of my reviews is more to remind myself later of the book, than to convince others to read it.

message 13: by A.L. (new)

A.L. Butcher (alb2012) | 314 comments I tend to post reviews pretty soon after reading a book. Partly as I have a lousy memory and as soon as I start a new book I might lose the other one. Occasionally I do retrospective reviews but they are on books I have read multiple times.

message 14: by Matthew (new)

Matthew (masupert) | 0 comments Usually right after reading a book.

message 15: by Redd (new)

Redd Kaiman (reddkaiman) | 11 comments I think you should do it later. If you want to criticize, you'll find things to criticize. Then you won't enjoy it, and you'll become a miserable person.

message 16: by Isabell (new)

Isabell (isabwell) I wrote my first reviews right after I finished the book, otherwise I would have forgotten to do it. But I might start slacking very soon, we'll see.

message 17: by Eric (new)

Eric Lawson | 8 comments I try and do it a day or so after I finish the book so things are still fresh. I need to go back and do reviews for books I've read before I started writing the reviews.
