Rod (baron_von_rodenheimer) | 27 comments As far as I know there's only one work of this German author translated into English, which is The Life and Adventures of Trobadora Beatrice as Chronicled by Her Minstrel Laura: A Novel in Thirteen Books and Seven Intermezzos. Only 15 ratings and 8 reviews, and it has the metanarrative, maximalist qualities that I know are to the taste of some of my Goodreads friends, so it seemed a worthy of drumming up interest in. Now, whether it's actually any good or not, I dunno, but it sure seems interesting, and I've got a copy, so eventually...

Rod (baron_von_rodenheimer) | 27 comments Not many reviews of Trobadora Beatrice out there, but here's a glowing one from The Complete Review.

He's promised us a forthcoming review for which I'm slightly begeistert.

Meena (meenakshi_r) Oh yes, me too.
Mostly it has received good reviews. Sadly Gutenberg doesn't seem to have any of his books.

; ) I made that explicit this morning on her author page. Teutonic Vorname are sometimes rather ungendered to our Anglo eyes.

The only ebooks of hers I've found are on amazon are still auf Deutsch.

Jonathan (nathandjoe) | 139 comments I read it about 4 years ago, so my memory is a bit fuzzy. A proper review may have to wait until I move back to London in June so I can look at my old copy...

I have to say that it was not a book I fell in love with, though it was fascinating and a very impressive work. I may end up re-reading it at some point.

An East German Murakami would be my lazy comparison. It is absolutely stark raving nuts, in a very good way.
