2013 May Pick It For Me! Challenge
ok, Nancy - are you ready???I gave you 4 books for each category, with at least 1 from to-read and 2 new to you. So hopefully you find one or more that works...
1. Jill Shalvis/Pamela Clare
Forged in Fire - this seems to be equally shelved as RomSus and Paranormal, I went with the RomSus shelving...BR if you are interested?
Priced to Move* - sounds different
The You I Never Knew* - new to you author, our Featured Author and BR if you are interested...(apparently this is on Mt TBR somewhere...)
Outside the Lines - lite romance, but a good read
Lisa Klepyas/Gail Carriger
The Iron Duke
Grave Mercy - umm, assassin nuns, need I say more (has some lite fantasy, but nothing major)
The Potato Factory* - Bryce Courtenay is one of my favorite authors, it was a sad day when he died
And Only to Deceive*
Lara Adrian/Patricia Biggs
Wicked Harvest - this was something really unique PNR wise I thought - I need to read some more of the series
No Mercy - she was formerly an Army Sniper
Visions of Heat - I saw you had read the first one, and said maybe to continuing the series - they get better with each book IMHO
Mother Nature* - I'd be intrigued to get back into this series
4. Lorelei James/Amy Lane
Faith & Fidelity - my first m/m and still one of my favorites
Country Mouse - a few of us are reading this in May as a BR, if you want to join in
For Her Pleasure*
Hot in Here*
so there you have it - I hope one or more of these works for you ;)

Thanks, Dee. These look great! I can't decide where to start because there are so many good ones. I think I will try to find (dig out of my massive shelves, that is!) The You I Never Knew since that is the featured author and also since I was going to read it earlier and just never got to it. But so many of the others sound good - I'm sure I won't be able to stop with just one - sort of like potato chips!!
Thanks for a great job!
Fran wrote: "Come on Jane, let's be brave together! I am only a little ways into IDW- maybe you will join me :)"I'm currently reading Drawn Together. I might be right to start IDW tomorrow...

glad one or more works for you ;)
Shatan--Finished my first book-Playing For Keeps R.L.Mathewson. Great book! I loved it. I will read The Dark Highlander Karen Marie Moning next because I have that one.
MountainKat wrote: "I finished my first pick, of what I'm sure will be many - thanks Jane! I read Let's Hear it for the Boy, it was great and I think I will stop crying sometime tonight..."I finished Let's Hear it for the Boy this morning too, and loved it. It didn't have quite as much of an emotional kick to me as I was expecting, but I think that's only because I was well prepared for it. Great story though - thanks for the recommendation, Kat - the first of MANY I plan to read this month, too! :D
Ruth Ann- Just finished Twisted Perfection a few minutes ago. It totally left me frustrated (with the stupid cliffhanger) I loved it and gave it 5 stars! I'd probably read Surrender Your Love next unless you're available for buddy reading Connected soon? :)
Jennie wrote: "I finished one of my picks! IndivisibleI really liked it. Loved how one misinterpretation caused lots of chaos. Great read."
I'm really glad you liked it Jennie! Let me know which book you want to BR!
Hey Fran --I just finished up my first pick from this month, Evenfall. Definitely one of the most intriguing books I've read in awhile. Really good! I'm very much looking forward to reading the rest of this series. Thanks! 4 stars
Fran --Finished up my second pick for the month, Sinnerman. Great addition to the series. I really love Mary Calmes. :) 4 stars
Katie wrote: "Fran --Finished up my second pick for the month, Sinnerman. Great addition to the series. I really love Mary Calmes. :) 4 stars"
Wow Katie!! You read that huge Evenfall already! And another one! So glad you enjoyed them :)
I finished Heartless this morning, my second pick for this month. I don't know what exactly it is about this series but it really intrigues me, and the narrator for the audio version, Emily Gray, is excellent. I can't wait to get to the final book in the series, but I guess I'm going to have to wait at least until next month! Thanks for another great pick, Kat!

I finished Heartless last night - another great pick Jane! The audio of this series is delightful and I am already trying to figure out when I can read, really listen to, the last one! Next month for sure!
Hi Kami, I finished my first pick, More, and really liked it. I don't usually read menage stories but this was a really good one! Thanks!
MountainKat wrote: "I finished Heartless last night - another great pick Jane! So pleased the selection is working out so far Kat :)
Katie wrote: "Fran --Finished up my second pick for the month, Sinnerman. Great addition to the series. I really love Mary Calmes. :) 4 stars"
I'm up to Nexus as well Katie. Sinnerman was a great addition to the series, but the next one is heading out of SF into demon territory again I think :( I'll just have to hope they don't go underground.
Amy, I finished
and it was a sweet, quick read, much like Harlequin Presents books and I enjoyed it. I'll start with
in next couple of days
Diane ~Firefly~ wrote: "Breann I read

I'm glad you liked Playing for Keeps. I may have to read the Highlanders series soon. You seem to really like the series and a couple of people have recommended them to me as well.
Hey Arena!Just finished my first pick
I don't know how I feel about this one since I hardly got the chance the develop an opinion as the book was so small.. but the book was going pretty well. Too bad I can't get part 2 so i won't be able to see where the story goes.. But a good read anyways.. Thanks for the rec!
Angi, I finished my first pick yesterday,
. I read book two first for some reason last month, so it was nice seeing where this series actually began. Liked it a lot. I think I'm gonna read
next.

Marcela wrote: "Nancy, I finish the first pick Forever Black I liked a lot, great book."Great- I'm glad you liked it. I've also thought of more books you might like, since you have already read some of the others. since you like philosophy, have you tried
series by Alexander McCall Smith? It is a good series set in Edinburgh, Scotland, and I have greatly enjoyed the ones I've read in that series.

Do you want to read Connected after you finish Surrender Your Love or do you want to start this weekend?
finished my first PIFM today,
. 2 stars. I wanted to slap the girl. Intensely. Let's hope my violent tendencies won't surface on my next PIFM,

I just realised that I have completed one of PIFM books. Yippee!! I've fulfilled this challenge's requirements. Now to read more books. The book I completed was

Fran --I finished up my third pick for this month, When Beauty Tamed the Beast. I really enjoyed this one! I haven't read much historical romance lately. I did read The Reckless Bride the other day, which drove home just how over Stephanie Laurens I am. I can't wait to read the rest of this series. Thanks for another great pick! 4 stars
ETA: Also just finished Other People's Weddings. Short and cute...3 stars.
Karen,I finished my first pick
and I loved it. I'm starting the next book in this series today or tomorrow! I gave it 5 stars. Thanks!

I'm so glad you enjoyed When Beauty Tamed the Beast Katie! I don't read much historical either anymore, but I remember really liking that one. And I am totally over Stephanie Laurens too!
Ok, last one for the month (I think...). I finished up Escaped. This is such an emotionally battering series, but I love it. I'm very much looking forward to reading the final book in the series. 4 stars
Hey Brandilyn,I finished Into Deep Waters and really enjoyed it. Thanks for suggesting it. It was lingering on my tbr for quite awhile. I think Breann tried to get me to read it too, LOL- it was time! I loved how the story spanned a long period of time in a short number of pages. I am a sucker for a complete picture like that, it's rare and I love it :)
Katie wrote: "Ok, last one for the month (I think...). I finished up Escaped. This is such an emotionally battering series, but I love it. I'm very much looking forward to reading the final book in the series..."Wow Katie! You read so many picks in only 8 days! So glad you found some you enjoyed :)

Kaje has this way of making me feel way too many emotions in so little pages. She does it to me every time.
and it looks like Kaje's book for this writing one is going to be equally as long - last count I saw her mention was 80k words...but that might have gotten edited down
Wow, I think this is the first month I've finished 2 books for this challenge. Forged in Fire, Trish McCallan 5/8/13 ★★★
The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie, Jennifer Ashley 5/7/13 ★★★★★
Valerie ~Varuca~I FINALLY finished some recommended books this month. I've been really behind because real life is cutting into my kindle time. GRRR.
But I finished
, and really enjoyed it. I've never read anything by Ethan Day before, so I'll have to check out more of his stuff.I also finished
. I can't believe it had taken me so long to get into the series, but I have been loving IT! You recommend the first one to me in March and I haven't looked back. This was soooo good. I was upset at the end though. I've been listening to them on audio and can't find the next one on audible so I have no idea what I'm going to do! LOL, I have to find out what happened next! Thanks once again for the great rec. I'm going to try to get some more of these done by the end of the month. I think I'll go on to
next.
Sassafrass wrote: "I was upset at the end though. I've been listening to them on audio and can't find the next one on audible so I have no idea what I'm going to do! I think we may have to switch to reading rather than listening though. =(
Hope you enjoy Head Over Heels, I really like that series. They are just feel good comfort food for me!
MK, I just went looking on google. It looks like the series switched publishers between book 5 and book 6. Dreamspinners did books 1-5 and Riptide is doing the later books. On Dreamspinners website it shows that book 5 came out on audio 5/1/13. They have it on their site, so maybe audible will pick it up soon.http://www.dreamspinnerpress.com/stor...
I think I may wait to see if audible picks it up in the next couple of weeks. I have a bunch of credits so I don't want to pay for an audiobook if I don't have to, but if they don't get it by then I will have to do it, I think.
Downside though is that I don't see any audiobooks on riptide's website. :( So, they may not be getting any any time soon.
