Shayne (theshaynee) I just started Atlas Shrugged a few days ago. I honestly almost put it down (I know, don't throw anything at me) because I wasn't exactly sure what it was about at first. Then I got a good plot summary from a friend and it sounded great. Knowing the overall plot helped. Seeing the bigger picture has me eager to read more.
I'm in Chapter V now. It's the part where Dagny goes to see D'Anconia after reading his newspaper interview. I'm looking forward to reading this classic. So I wanted to stop in and show some love for it while I was in the midst of enjoying it. :)

Shayne,

I almost put the book down the first time I read it too, because it sounded all pro-socialist to me. Perhaps your reasons were very different. But of course I realized that it's not pro-socialist, that's just what the "bad guys" were spouting.

Anyway I hope you'll stick with it. It's one of the most amazing books I have ever read, but the first chunk does require some tenacity. Stick with it and you won't regret it.

Shayne (theshaynee) It does have that air about it. But that didn't throw me. I'm a die hard 1984 fan so I was okay with all that and I could see through most of it. It's just one of those you have to push through the beginning I guess. But I'm determined. I've heard people say that it changed their lives so it has to be worth it.

From that list, I have read, and enjoyed, numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8!

Roger Catlett (73wildcat) Just started reading Atlas Shrugged in April. I like the part where Dagny is having coffee in a diner and an old bum gives her his philosophy that man is only concerned about food and reproducing. He is a lowly animal.
