Dawnie and Delaney #2
She smiled slightly and inched forward, crying into his shoulder.
Confused, unsure, and hurt, Ecka hugged him tight.
Ecka buried her face in his neck, knowing well that her hot salty tears were running down his back. She ignored the sting as her face touched something. "I would run with you, Willie." She whispered.
She squeezed his hand. "I would. If all this didn't happen." She lifted her head to look him in the eye. "I don't think I'll ever run again. I'm to scared to run."

Connor, rising with the sun promptly, walked slowly into the tent which held the prisoner and the man he'd assigned to guard her. His eyes widened when he saw the girl and the man he'd assigned to guard her lying on the floor, a water bottle rolled off to the side of the tent, and her shackles not even fastened.
"What are you doing?" He demanded, rage in his eyes. He clenched his fists, sparks flying off of them.
Ecka closed her eyes and started to scrabble away but a firm hand locked with her raw ankle and pulled her, her fingernails leaving trails in the dust. He pulled her up powerfully and held her by her hair. He turned to Willie. "I'll deal with you, later." He said as he got ready to punch Ecka in the jaw, or worse.

Connor stumbled back, reeling. His eyes widened and he clenched his injured jaw, afraid that he used his firebending he may burn down the whole tent, or, more realistically the whole camp. He punched Willie in the stomach, watching him double in pain proudly.
Ecka, watched in horror. Her huge blue eyes were wide with terror as she scrabbled back and stared. She looked frantically for some sort of water, but saw nothing.

Connor gasped in pain, surprised at the young man's bold fighting style and the pain he inflicted. He followed Willie's glance and lunged for the girl, grabbing her hair and pulling her to her feet. One fingernail pressed deep into her burn, and the other held a knife under her chin. "Move. A. Step. Forward and the girl dies." He said through gritted teeth, bleeding from his hip, but not too badly. He saw in the man's eye that Willie was considering the possibilities and he thrust the blade up slightly harder. A trickle of blood dripped from her chin down to the floor and she whimpered. "Just a step. And she's gone."
Connor smirked. In one sleek motion he lifted the dagger and smacked her over the side of her head with the flat of the blade. Her eyes rolled back into her head and she crumpled to the floor in a heap of blonde hair and clothes.
Connor sidestepped to block Willie, whipping Ecka into his arms as he did so. "You are obviously not to be trusted with this victim. She will be disposed of...publicly." He decided, and walked out of the tent with the unconscious Ecka in his arms, her head lolling limply off the side, flopping against his arm, her legs spilling out the other side, dragging in the dust. He dropped her in the center of the camp. "Gather around!" He watched Willie from the corner of his eye. "Public execution."

Ecka's eyes fluttered open and she blinked twice before realizing what was happening. Yet she didn't move. Her body was slung uncomfortably over a block, and she could feel someone standing over her.
That man, who had been fighting Willie. She groaned and the man's eyes widened. He raised his sword, ready to bring it down on her neck.
Ecka rolled out of the way so that the sword lodged into the block, leaving the excecutioner struggling to free his blade. But he grabbed her by the collar of her shirt and pulled her upwards. She thrashed wildly, crying out in pain everytime she moved any joint in her body. She kicked at him and demanded he free her.
"It's time to make a public example of you to your clamnates." he snarled, laughing as she thrashed and sobbed.
Ecka hazily searched for some sort of water. Grasses, a tree, anything. But the firebending camp resided on the dusty desert moorland. She was helpless.
Then, Ecka saw Willie, eyes huge on the edge of the camp. "Willie!" She screamed, her tears streaming so thickly.

Air bender. Willie thinks. The girl smiled at him.
"I'm Cymbril." She said keeping her eyes ahead of her.
The man binded Ecka's hands behind her back before she could do anything and she snarled, swinging her leg up and controlling the water so it whipped him in the face. Stunned, he stumbled backwards and Ecka half ran, half fell into her sister's arms. "Cymbril." She sobbed into her sister's shoulder.

Ecka stumbled. "Come with us." She pleaded, trying to get her footing.
Ecka smiled at him warmly, but realized that without proper sight, or twisted ankles, she couldn't run fast enough. Her mind reeled, not wanting to seem weak so she followed at her fastest pace, keeping up with them.

"No." She snapped, shouldering him away and icing the path behind her so that the guards chasing her tripped and fell. She grinned over her shoulder and speeded up, using the ice that was only on her path to propel her forward.

Ecka watched in horror as the guards simply snuffed out the flame with their own firebending. Ecka bolted forward, knowing it was her time to fight, even if she was injured. She summoned as much water as she could and made it rise into a huge wave, cascading down on the men, and locking them all in a permanent state of agony as she froze the water into ice. With this, she crumpled to the ground, using more energy than she had to save her friends.

Ecka would have put a fight but she was just barely conscious, so she let Willie carry her.

Ecka curled up in a ball, a natural instinct for the last few days, protecting herself from Willie, even though he may be her friend now. She felt into a restless sleep, once again having a nightmare, but not half as bad as the other night, when Willie had curled up beside her.
There were voices outside the cave.
"I think they're benders." A male voice whispered.
"Fire benders?" That was a female voice, she didn't bother to be too quiet.
"I don't know."
She sighed. "They could be bad."
"We don't know that." He pointed that out. "I'm going to say hello."

Jonas popped up at the head of the cave. "Hello." He waved. "I'm Jonas Polaroid, and this is my sister, Addia." Addia sulked forward and stared.
"Hey." She smiled, not completely trusting yet.

Ecka groaned and pushed herself to her feet, wincing. "Hello?" She whispered, limping forward.
"She looks hurt." Addia furrowed her brow and pointed to Ecka. "I have some herbs that might help with that burn." She stared at her. "Actually, there's a lot of crazy crap going on with her. Let me help." She smiled and took a step closer, holding out a hand.
Ecka bristled at the stranger's hand coming closer and she took a step back.
Jonas smiled at his younger sister. "Nice to meet you guys."

Jonas smiled. "We live here, so if you ever need us..."
"Or atleast we did," Addia interrupted. "Until the firebenders burned down our forest. We've actually been staying...here." She gestured inside the cave, blushing.
Ecka watched quietly. "And please," Addia pleaded. "Let me help her."

Ecka gulped. Was she really afraid of human contact now? "Okay." She whispered hoarsely.
"Nah." Jonas shrugged. "We're fine. It was just temporary."
"You can stay with us...The cave is huge." Ecka offered very quietly, trembling.

"Oh really? Where's this third you speak of?" He smiled brightly.
Addia walked slowly into the cave after Ecka. Ecka walked over to a small boulder and sat down on it, watching the newcomer carefully.
"Can I see?" She asked, pointing to Ecka's face. She nodded slowly and leaned forward. "It's infected." Addia said after a while with a cringe. "You get burned by a firebender?"
She nodded, not saying anything about Willie. She cast a sideways look at him as he walked towards them.
"Do you have any other injuries?"
Ecka nodded, and pulled her pantleg up, showing her twisted bloody ankles. Addia knelt to help, but Ecka shook her head. "There's more." She said quickly. Addia looked like she'd just gained a fierce amount of respect for Ecka. Ecka turned around and lifted the back of her shirt up. There were five harsh whip marks scouring diagonally across her pale back.
"Jonas? Um, a little help? Or anyone else know how she got these marks?"

"Whipped." She said slowly. Willlie jump.
"God Cymbril, you scared me."
"Shackles?" Addia cocked her head like she didn't understand. "Was she chained?" She didn't react to the sudden appearance of the newcomer. "Hi." She waved on the side.
Jonas bent to look as well. Both Addia and Jonas knew so much about herbs, and healing, as they used to live in a druid clan. "These are deep. And that burn smells."
Ecka turned her head. "What?"
"Like rotting flesh. Or burnt flesh. Well, both. It's obviously infected, right, Addia?"
Addia nodded, her eyebrows furrowed. "When was the last time she ate?"
She looked at Willie in question. Ecka realized for the first time that she'd been to scared to eat back at the clan.

The question was, who was he?
Her heart was beating hard in her chest like horse hooves. "No." She inched closer. "I'm cold."
