team moonstone

Since red is my favorite color, I checked out Suzanne's shelves from Radically Red and found a book with a pretty red cover.

What fun to read!

HEy, you think we'd leave any baked goods lying around for interlopers? Hmph, I think not!

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments Lara IS, I see two Sookie Stackhouse books! I'm reading those this year too. Read the first two already, but taking a break while I do the read-a-thon. :)

I love the Sookie Stackhouse books. It was my first urban-fantasy series (not counting with Harry Potter, of course)

The last one is due to come out May 7th, just in time for the RaT and books in uniforms theme :o)

My favorite Charlaine Harris series so far is the Harper Connelly one - Harper is a girl that after being hit by a lightning at age 16 she develop the ability to sense the deceased and revive the last moments before their death.

First 2 books are good, last 2 are amazing!!!!

:o)

message 510: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments I forgot to add that audio format is the best way of reading Charlaine Harris series.

I've tried Sookie Stackhouse, Harper Connelly and Aurora Teagarden (a cozy mystery series) and they have amazing narrators.

message 511: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments I have the Harper Connellys too I think. I'm not sure. I have the Aurora Teagarden ones but am not sure when I'll get to those as they don't strike my fancy enough to push up past my already long to-read list. :)

message 512: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Aurora's books are good, but pale in comparison with the other series.
Harper's are an entirely different business. Read them. NOW.
*giggles*

message 513: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments If I have them, I'll start them once Sookie's finished. Of course, I'm starting like 50 series right now haha.

message 514: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments I have a read-the-next-in-series shelf with ‎56 books and a new-series shelf with 96

I don't think I read stand alones anymore :o)

message 515: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments Haha, I'm right there with you. I finally went through this past week and added two shelves: "First book in a series to read" and "next up in a series" :)

message 516: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments I'm a series fan.

I also prefer tv series to movies :o)

message 517: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments ME TOO!!!!

I want to get invested in the characters. Movies and standalones just don't give me enough of them :D

Don't get me started on TV... I watch WAY TOO MUCH.

message 518: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments I liked the Harper Connelly books the least of Charlaine Harris' series.

Reason: Both rated it 4 stars and it is hard to find anyone who doesn't give these books 5 stars.

message 521: by Logan (new)

Logan (loganturner) | 1643 comments Steven, Barb, and Lisa Kay - I know I'm late to the party but I had to pipe up and echo Steven's love for James Rollins' Sigma Force series. I recommend them to everyone who will listen and I just adored the superdog Kane in the most recent one. Love love love that series!

My series-next shelf is down to 77 books, and my series-first shelf has over 200 unread books. I'm with you, Sonia, I'm addicted to series!

message 528: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments I'm right there with Barb and Sonia.

I'm a series-whore apparently! AND I'm a rereader... which means I read entire series over and over hahaha

I'm sooo like this. Ask my sister how many times I re-read the first 4 Harry Potter books - she even got mad at me because of that.

message 530: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments :) We just enjoy a story and a world and its inhabitants so much that we must go back for visits!

message 531: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Exactly!

Plus the first HP book is so cute I can't resist it!

message 532: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments I prefered the last four to the first three :P

message 533: by Eni (new)

Eni | 2349 comments blashphemy steven! lupin and sirius are the best characters in the books! hail to book 3!

message 534: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments Haha, perhaps. But they show up in other books as well, you know. ;)

message 535: by Eni (new)

Eni | 2349 comments yeah but sadly lupin doesn't show up enough :(

message 536: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments I'm ambivalent towards him.

*braces himself for physical violence*

message 537: by Eni (new)

message 539: by ❀Tea❀ (last edited May 07, 2013 12:16PM) (new)

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 9624 comments I agree. Remus (& Sirius) don't get enough time/pages in later books. And they especially don't deserve what happened to them.

message 540: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments You and Nymphadora Tonks, that is!

message 541: by Eni (last edited May 07, 2013 12:22PM) (new)

Eni | 2349 comments ikr Tea? but then again i mean.. it's supposed to be an epic tale..but not exactly a fairy tale. The way the HP world is built is to make us believe this is all real, and this is all possible. So sadly, a few loved characters do not get to have a happy ever after ending.

you take that back steven! you take that back right now! he's all mine! *pif* him and mr riddick!

message 542: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments *steps in front of Steven*

Eni, don't hurt him. I need the RaT's updates from MangoTango

message 543: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments Perhaps they don't receive a happy ending, but they willingly sacrificed for a cause that won out... so they're happy somewhere :)

You can have him. I'm sure Tonks will share? X)

message 544: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments Haha, Sonia, it's okay. I have my wand (that I got at Hogwarts in Orlando!) and I know PROTEGO! :D

message 545: by Eni (new)

Eni | 2349 comments *pif*

i actually didn't rly like tonks.. not the book one and certainly not the movie one.. thought she was kinda.. meh

wait.. you have a wand? =O T_T

message 546: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments As long as you don't hurt her either, I'll let you play :-)

message 547: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments to Eni: I hold him and you take the wand

message 548: by Eni (new)

Eni | 2349 comments i agree with this plan =D

message 549: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments Yes, I have a wand. :) I chose....errr... Hermione's wand chose me! X)

I went to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Florida last month. First vacation in years. Totally worth it.

Hogwarts. Three Broomsticks. Hogsmead. Great Feast. Wands. Ollivanders. it was.... AMAZING.
