Welcome again to the group! So you were friends with Rick Hautala, huh? Too cool!
Thanks for the kind words on Screamscapes, hope you enjoy it. Interesting idea you have for a comic adaptation...I'm a HUGE fan of classic horror comics and would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see any or all of my stories adapted to the format someday. Have you seen Atomic Chili by Joe R. Lansdale? Something along those lines, but preferably in color.
Maybe it'll happen someday. Right now I'm knee deep in the process of having Screamscapes produced as an audiobook, but I really like the way you think.

You're very welcome, Steven. I'm glad you're enjoying the group so far.:) I've yet to read Screamscapes (though I do have a copy,) and Adam's Vengeance By The Foot is quite good.

Evans, yeah Hautala was such a nice guy and well we can tell by how many people added something to that tribute book, just how many people his life touched. One of the things I remember of his books when I was a kid was his were the ones that were big at being printed in paperback with some really cool holographic covers. Cold Whisper was a trippy one. It had this little girl and if you turned the book a certain way she would become skeletal...Little Brothers is my all time favorite title though. Those creepy creatures gave me nightmares as a kid...talk about some great writing. Interesting tidbit, I was talking with Hautala a long while back about if he ever had plans of adapting Little Brothers or any of his other work to a comic and he and a guy named Stephen Bissette actually did have something going with it at one point. Bissette drew a bunch of story boards and such and they brought this to a comic company and they told them horror comics just wouldn't make it and didn't sell...I wonder what the guy that said that is thinking about The Walking Dead series :O) Anyway, maybe you should hunt down this Bissette guy. He's a really good artist...just a thought.
I have not seen Atomic Chili yet but will have to check it out. Oh and as comic stuff goes, have either you or your brother been to a Comic Con yet? I highly recommend it...lot's of horror readers there.
Dustin, I'll have to check out that Vengeance By The Foot.

Steven. Thanks for the interest. You can get all of my published stories in the Collection
for $3.99. It'll save you a few bucks overall. It will be available in paperback soon as well.

Yes, I forgot all about your forthcoming PB publication, Adam! I'm looking forward to it!
Steven- it's not a problem. I love recommending Vengeance By The Foot, and helping the Light brothers out any way I can.:)

My name is Michelle and I am a huge fan of anything horror or thriller related.
I have to say that I haven't actually read a really good horror book in quite a while though so am itching to find a good one.
I do have a copy of Screamscapes but haven't had the chance to read it yet. I'm hoping to very soon though!
Hi Michelle! Welcome to the group.
I hope SCREAMSCAPES fits the bill...since it's a collection of short stories and Novellas, you've kind of got ten chances at a good story wrapped in a single cover.
And Adam Light's collection TOES UP is out now, too... :-)
Hope you enjoy the group!

I haven't read all of Screamscapes yet, but I have read other work by Evans Light and Adam Light. Both have their fingers firmly planted on the pulse of modern horror, and I haven't read a piece by either yet that I wouldn't highly recommend.

How wonderful to see you here, Jason!:)

I feel your pain, there. I wish I had the money to do a lot of things. One day I plan on being rich, though. Waiting is the hard part.

When I am independently wealthy, I will back the animated version of all the horror you would like.

I love watching the Tales from the Cryptkeeper cartoons with my kids. Got the seasons cheap at Sams Club last Halloween. Good stuff, but would love to see higher quality, adult themed horror animation.

George Romero would be awesome, IMO!!

Here's what it looks like. It used to be a Saturday morning cartoon back when Goosebumps was popular. I think I picked this up for only $10, not bad for 15 episodes / 345 minutes. I'm not sure it's something I'd watch on my own, but if you've got little kids around it beats the heck out of anything on Nickelodeon or Disney, that's for sure! I think the first season is slightly better than the second, but there are some surprisingly decent stories for a show geared towards kids.

I looked last night and saw there was actually a third season that was broadcast in 1999 (the first run ended in 1994). It hasn't been released yet on dvd, but I'd finally coming out this month. Walmart.com has the first half of the season for $4.99 on pre-order. Cover art is lame.

Oh and just have to say Evans, Payback has got to be THE funniest, twistedest (made up a word), story I've read in a while. Yeah I have to say so far this title Screamscapes is getting a great review from me and I have already started telling people at work to check your book out. Is Payback only available in Screamscapes or do you have it as a stand alone for sale as well? Not that I wouldn't want friends to buy the whole book but if they want a quick read and I can talk them into it, I have some friends that would really enjoy this story.
Hi Steven, glad to hear you're enjoying the book. PAY BACK is available as a $.99 single on Amazon.
As far as the TALES FROM THE CRYPTKEEPER cartoons go, stick with the first and second seasons. From what I've read the much later produced third season is much tamer and less scary.

Pretty sure I watched that light years ago, Steven, and I remember thinking it was not so bad. Pretty good even.

SALE ALERT - The sometimes hard to find and excellent TALES FROM THE CRYPTKEEPER Complete second season DVD set is on sale as of Sept 25, 2013, for only $9. Not sure how long it will be available, so grab it if you want it! (this is an animated series)

Perfect for watching with the kids during the spooking season (which is pretty much all the time at my house! )

I'm guess I'm hoping to go with a publisher if I could find the interest, but self-publishing isn't out of the question. I don't honestly know anything about the business so I probably sound naive about it. Thanks for the interest. I will definitely keep you posted. Oh yeah, I do like short fiction but I'm not sure I can contain this first story to less than a full novel. I have contemplated breaking it into smaller bits. In the process of rewriting is when I think I'll be able to decide. Since I am so new, I'm open to advice and suggestions.
