Prodigy Buddy Read

Meaghan, Jen and Karen are going to start a buddy read of Prodigy by Marie Lu on Sunday, April 21st!! Anyone else who wants to read and discuss are more than welcome! Or if you've already read and just want to jump in, come on in!!

We keep things pretty relaxed, you can read at your own pace. Please post what Chapter or % you're up to and use spoilers for anything that might ruin it for someone else who's not as far along :) And most of all, have fun!

I need to refresh myself with Legend. It's been a while since I've read it. If I start reading Prodigy and find myself lost, I'll do a quick reread of Legend. That's what I did for Unravel Me. ha! A year is so long in between books. I usually remember the main premise but forget the tiny little details. And I hate not remembering those.

I just finished minutes ago. Since we're not starting till Sunday, I think I'll listen to again and then go right into - should work out perfectly!

Aw thanks! I love doing bc I always have those moments where I'm like 'no way, that just happened?! I have to tell someone!' And now I can. Lol

This buddy read stuff is addicting, Jen!! I agree that this is so awesome to be able to share with friends of like minds!! I need to reread Legend I think too! I'll start on that once I finish Clockwork Angel. Maybe tonight.

About 25% in - hmmmm . . . already I love this book. I love these characters, although June is acting very 15/smart prodigy kid. I will finish Gone tonight, I'm almost done! I really loved Prodigy, almost as much as Legend! I thought it was a pretty good sequel!

Razor didn't give any explanations as to what was going to happen after they killed Anden, and the whole thing just felt wrong to me. I also didn't like that they separated June and Day. I knew that was a big mistake! (hide spoiler)]

Jenny - (view spoiler)[ Well, I knew Razor was behind it but I never suspected that the Senate was behind him! And the ending . . . I am SO glad Lu didn't betray us like Lauren Oliver did. They may have had a long conversation about breaking up, but I'm taking that last embrace as their realization that they can't do it. Thank GOD there's a third book coming. I suppose that will deal with Day's illness - you think? (hide spoiler)]

Oh man you guys. Dying to read your spoilers! I ended up crashing this evening for a few hours and didn't get any reading done. :-( I'm about to jump back into and hopefully finish Legend and then start Prodigy.

So I may be entirely off the mark but I'm going to make an early prediction anyways. I'm only about 10% in. (view spoiler)[ I think Razor wants to assassinate the Elector because he somehow is the next in line to become Elector and can bring down the Republic from the inside. He seems way too eager to take down the new Elector and doesn't have any real reason (if the new Elector in line is just as bad as this one). Also, his overly extravegant apartment shows he already has some type of power somewhere. (hide spoiler)]

I am looking so forward to it, especially after that ending. If you're going to end things that way, you should definitely have more of the story coming.

I'm about 25% in. I'm loving this book!! It feels like a really fast read after Gone's nearly 600 pages!

(view spoiler)[ I agree that I think she will wear the ring but I think it may be something that gives her away since it's homemade and not really expensive.

I feel like we are going to end up in a love square (?!) with Day, June, Tess, and Anden. However, I hope it ends up with Day and June! I still think of Tess as too sister-y to actually have a romantic relationship with Day. And I think Day and June are a good balance for each other. That being said, I hope Tess doesn't just get left behind and cast out somehow. (hide spoiler)]

I agree completely about how weird it is between Day and you know who. She's more a sister to him!

Finally started Prodigy! WOOT WOOT. I'm about 10% in and can't wait to dig into everyone's spoilers!

So this was my review of the book. I finished it and absolutely loved it! I finished it at work reciting "I will not cry, I will not cry,..." to myself. One of the best books I've read in a while!

So, ummm...how to start this review. D: ! That seems appropraite!

I absolutely loved this book, even more than Legend. But that ending, ugh! Seriously?!

This book was wonderfully written and Marie Lu did an excellent job making you feel Day's and June's happiness, saddness, anger, etc. (view spoiler)[ Unfortunately, it ended on the saddest note possible! (hide spoiler)]

I loved Day's and June's releationship throughout this book, as I did in Legend. Although I was mad when June and Anden kissed! I know Day and Tess did too but Day wasn't into it like June was with Anden

As for Eden... (view spoiler)[ Poor Eden! He has been used for a government weapon, experimented on, finally released (practically blind), and then his only family left is dying?! SERIOUSLY?! I hope he gets a bigger role in the third book. (hide spoiler)]

I loved Kaede's role in this book. (view spoiler)[ And shocker here...her story also ends on a sad note. Apparently, life just can't be happy for anyone! (hide spoiler)]

Finally, Tess. I do love Tess but she just feels like a baby sister to me. And I think that's how it should be kept. I know she's grown up and all but her and Day and more of brother and sister so Tess being into him just seemed off to me.

Ok, 30% in. (view spoiler)[The paper clip ring scene was a bit uncomfortable. Day trying to get engaged after just a few weeks with the first week of June beating him up. Tooooo insta-love. June not knowing what to say and saying the wrong things makes her seem teenagey even though she's this massive intelligent assassin type gal.

Just read about Metias. Hhmmm... Still, killing your childhood friend... Have to think about that one for a bit.. (hide spoiler)]

I took it more as like a trust ring or whatever they were called back in High School. lol! I could be wrong though!
