Honestly I don't care for Twilight, but it is leagues better than Fifty Shades.
I don't really want to give Meyer anymore credibility than is her due, but at least she did her own thing, and created her own mythology (the merit of which is up for debate. James Wrote an AU fanfic that even copied one scene right out of the source, which is of course fine for a fanfiction, but then scribbled out the names and published it as her own work.
On top of the dubious nature of James' success... Twilight is a series that showcases a unhealthy relationship between two people obsessed with each other ( mind the author treats this as romantic), but there are still redeemable moments and characters. Fifty Shades of Grey (I haven't yet forced myself to read the sequels) is entirely... well just gross. The characters are entirely devoid of anything approaching humanity, and the relationship is dangerously unhealthy. Seriously If a spanking humiliates a girl to tears that is not Safe, Sane, or Consensual, Dude needs to back the F--- off.

twilight definitely!
if you thought Edward was bad, you won't even want to meet Christian Grey!

most definitley Twilight... Who wants to read about a guy doing a girl dirty or wrong or the other way around... i'm sorry, i see enough in my life as it is. i rather see the opposite where a girl and a guy falls in love but with the love... but not every love story stays the same, there's always obstacles to over come and thats why i picked twilight...

I didn't like Twilight much, but I've read before the movies came out, so I'm not as predisposed as most of the haters out there.
In the Twilight saga the endings in the saga where anticlimatics, most of the characters where swallow and Meyer did a mock out of the vampire myth, those where the reason why I didn't like it in the end.
But even though all the bad things Meyer did, her books where way more interesting than James's.
In my opinion the first book of the Twilight series and Eclipse where pretty decent, not bad, but the other two suck. In spite of that Twilight felt more like a disappointment because I was genuinely interested in what is going to happen next; Meyer knows how to create a pretty good sensation of anxiety an anticipation, but the endings where a let down.
With the 50 shades Trilogy I struggle for the most the time of the reading process, it was just boring to me. And the main structure and characters of the saga where basically a rip off from Twilight (remember 50 shades began as a fanfic from Twlight).
Is like copying the literature flaws of Twilight, without adding anything really interesting, other than more and more explicit sex, and it was overrated in my opinion; after some sex scenes it just get repetitive, boring.
Ironically, this version of Twilight XXX is a gold mine, because it is the natural progression of the Twilight series that most girls wanted to read, that's why is such a huge success, financially at least.
In conclusion: Twlight is better than 50 Shades, but neither worth reading nor deserve the amount of attention they have. But it is what it is.

Twilight times a thousand. Fifty shades is a special kind of awful
Twilight is not poorly written it's teenage romance what do people expect? And of course the relationship between Bella and Edward is intense; wasn't your first love that way? I know mine was.
Now 50 Shades is something else entirely not only in story line but in writing quality as well. This book is ridiculously bad: the writing is so poor it cannot be above a fifth grader writing their first book. I think that's what made it all the more disturbing for me, not the content necessarily, just the style of writing reminded me so much of an adolescent that it was not only creepy but impossible to read without frustration.

I have read all Twilight books and I loved them, by the end of the first book I felt I knew all the main characters personally and I felt really involved. I read three quarters of the first 50 shades of grey book and gave up, I couldn't stomach any more its too perverse for my tastes, I can't bear the thought of that kind of domination, its just not for me.
There is absolutely nothing both books have in common. I love them both dearly but i can never compare them.
They are different, but I also see alot of similarities between the two. Just take away vampires and wolves from Twilight and extreme sexual situations in Fifty Shades. When you do you'll find the emotional situations, the dangers, and events are not too far from each other (with the exception the time frame is much more condensed in Fifty Shades.) With that being said Twilight was first...
Loved them both... twilight is romantic and fifty shades is romantic erotic...
I loved the Twilight books when I didn't think I would. The writing was good and I don't understand why everyone thinks otherwise. We read for all sorts of reasons and I hope it is because we want to learn more about ourselves and the views of others.
What really bothers me about the Fifty Shades books is that people would even waste their time on it. There is no redeeming value to the books. Why don't more people read "Lord of the Flies" or "To Kill a Mockingbird" or just about anything that has substance.

I threw up in my mouth a little upon reading that some people could find one even remotely "preferable."
Fifty Shades of Grey is a porno in and throughout. Whereas, Twilight is not a porn- centered scenario. Yes, the movies show a bit of nudity, but they are nothing close to the erotica that comes with reading Fifty Shades...

I'm not a fan of either series, but I seriously choose Twilight. Even though the Twilight Saga's characters annoyed me, at least the plot was a bit more interesting and didn't involve 100 percent around the sexual undertones.
Fifty shades... but they should not be compared. They are very different in many different ways.
TWILIGHT!!!!! :) Because it has less Sex and I like the characters and story better.
Twilight. Definitely. And I definitely agree with Christina there. Besides, Ms. Meyer invented Jacob, and I need to thank her forever for that. TEAM JACOB!! Yea. XD
Didn't you already do this topic?
Loved them both
On similar lines except of the erotic sides
couldn't compare!

How you can compare these 2 series when one is YA and the other is Adult, one is about people and the other is paranormal. The only thing they have in common is that they both are considered poorly written yet created a huge buzz which drove sales up for both series.
No Freakin comparison. Edward might have unnatural Strength, but Christian is a FREAK, the kind of freak you want!!!Sorry but a sparkly, pretty vampire,(mind u I do love vampires) is not what I want to lie in bed with every night. I much prefer a smokin hot(and I do mean that literally as well,(since Edward is cold as fish),red blooded male!!!
