A.L. Butcher (alb2012) | 1608 comments Ok this one is not something I have ever heard of...http://voices.yahoo.com/anatidaephobi...

message 2: by Elle (new)

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments link doesn't work?

I don't think it will come to a surprise to anyone that I have an intense phobia of planes/flying

message 4: by Elle (new)

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments I'm pretty sure I might have that one. It absolutely 100% creeps me the fuck out when birds stare at me.

message 5: by A.L. (new)

A.L. Butcher (alb2012) | 1608 comments Clowns and puppets freak me out. I think my worst nightmare is a ventroliquist with a clown dummy.

Oh and I am mildly claustrophobic and don't like crowds. I am just awkward me:)

message 6: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine | 575 comments My sister hates clowns,my youngest son has a phobia of cotton wool,i just hate spiders.

message 7: by Elle (new)

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments Ye, not too fond of crowds either.

Better not come near our house, Taco.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I am mildly phobic about wasps, thunderstorms and making phone calls.

Oh lord. I'd be hiding behind something (no doubt you or your lovely daughter/wife).

I hate making phone calls. Takes me ages to psych myself up for them. In fact I'm currently in the process of completely ignoring the fact I need to ring someone but I have until Friday to do so.

I also hate people dressed up in those ridiculous costumes - like bears/cartoon characters

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I once avoided making a phone call for 2 years.

message 12: by A.L. (new)

A.L. Butcher (alb2012) | 1608 comments Oompa loompas now they are WRONG. Fortunately there aren't many about so they are easy to avoid.

message 13: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I have a fear of the dentist, I wouldn't go so far as to say it was a phobia. Although on my form it asked if you were nervous and on a scale of 10 where would you rate yourself. I was hovering about 6 when hubby told me not to be so stupid I was nowhere near a 6 and he circled the 10.

I'm currently trying to break the fear.

I also do not like the odd looking costume store character things people dress up in. Actual park ones like at Universal or Disney are fine though cause they actually look like the characters and not some half melted floppy grotesque version of them.

Got over any hang ups about phone calls when I worked as a receptionist for my Uncle and then for Toyota during their recall. It's surprising how racist Brits can be to a fellow Brit yet be more than happy to speak to a south African *jerk*

Seagulls in Aberdeen actually size you up to judge whether or not they think they can steal the sandwich right out of your hand. Thankfully this has never happened to me but one did sneak up behind me and steal the paper that my sandwich had been wrapped in. We'll not have an outdoors picnic if you come to Aberdeen Elle!

message 14: by A.L. (new)

A.L. Butcher (alb2012) | 1608 comments Not just Aberdeen seagulls, Jud. All sea gulls do that, now I like birds but seagulls are evil. Used to be a huge Herring Gull near the pub we went to for lunch which would sit on the fence and then fly down and steal food from plates.

message 15: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Fair enough, there never were any seagulls back in Lisburn (where I'm from) so Aberdeen seagulls surprised me!

message 16: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Also, I think it's time I admit that it is a phobia of the dentist I have... I'm really nervous now just from speaking about it.

message 17: by Karen (new)

Karen Lowe | 1338 comments My OH reckons i've got phobias about phobias.
Clowns/costumes - yep
Lifts. Crowds. Going on boats/plains/trains... and not too smitten with car journeys especially motorways (tho happier now in my lurverly campervan.)
Hate phoning people.
Oh, and spiders. Not phoning them, obvs.

But, on the plus side, I'm ok with birds. Have even rescued them when they've come down the chimney :)

message 18: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments My mum was afraid of birds! She thought we'd got chickens to spite her!

I really hate tall things looming over me - not big buildings - I once had palpitations having to walk past an old wrecked oil tanker in a field - the rusty tank - I hate oil drums too. And sails - sweeping sails soaring above me.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Hmmmmm. Have had a good think and can't say I'm afraid of anything.

I used to find heights disturbing but I seem to have got over it.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments I can't honestly say I've got any phobias either. Not keen on a few things but they don't amount to a phobia.

message 21: by A.L. (last edited Apr 17, 2013 03:27AM) (new)

A.L. Butcher (alb2012) | 1608 comments Panphobia is the fear of everything (as opposed to fear of pans) and there is a fear of fear. Phobophobia - now that is a self fulling prophecy.

message 22: by Katy (new)

Katy | 2662 comments My OH always says that I'm scared of everything!

Needles, heights, clowns, small spaces, crowds, spiders. Blood makes me feint, but I'm not sure I'm scared of it

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Face those fears, Katy!

I expect they'll bother you less as you get older. Hope so anyway. :)

message 24: by Katy (new)

Katy | 2662 comments Needles I'm better with since the operation (: not great, but better. Clowns I can avoid! The rest in working on, but it's a slow process! (: not sure about the blood thing though! have no control over that one!

message 25: by Elle (new)

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments LIFTS! I would rather walk up 20 floors than get the f**king lift. Oh my word. Hatred.

A seagull once stole my Mothers ice cream when she visited me in Wales. One distracted her and the other dive bombed for the food. It was hilarious (because it wasn't me). She has been particularly bitter about birds ever since.

message 26: by A.L. (new)

A.L. Butcher (alb2012) | 1608 comments Lol. Seagulls are evil

message 27: by Elle (new)

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments I have another one!! Stairs on double decker buses.

*hides inside Elle bubble*

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments What's the opposite of a phobia? Front seats upstairs on a double decker - Yahoo!!

message 29: by Elle (new)

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments I seriously fear the day someone falls on them! I swear I fear for other peoples safety more than my own

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I always make sure to hold on tight with both hands while going up or down the stais because thats just when the bus driver decides he needs to slam on the brakes.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12593 comments I have a fear of heights and, oddly, being sick. Id rather feel sick for days than be sick once. I'm rather squeamish about eyes

working our way through the possible Greek words for love, hydroerotica is probably something different again

I also enjoy his Driving Instructor ("the BLUE flashing light distracted you?"), and the chat with Walter Raleigh about the interesting things he's brought back from his trip.

message 37: by Katy (new)

Katy | 2662 comments Mike, that's just horrid!!

I should point out that I'm not fond of spiders, but it's the black house spiders that I have a phobia of

Oh, and my uncle used to have a phobia of wetwipes...

message 38: by Karen (new)

Karen Lowe | 1338 comments Girl I used to work with had a phobia about tortoises... she just couldna bear the thought of them without their shells.

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments I've known a few people phobic of cotton wool.

message 41: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments My friends son has a phobia of anything creamy that goes on the skin, e.g. face paint, sun cream... He was really ill when he was born and she thinks it was all the gels and creams the Dr's used that has caused it.

message 42: by Philip (sarah) (new)

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments I had a really severe phobia about thunder storms, it got so bad I sought treatment and had a course of hypnotherapy. This worked pretty well though I will never enjoy them!
Having moved back to Scotland we don't get anywhere near as many as when we lived in the south of England but I would gladly suffer in return for some better weather;@)

message 43: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments So, no-one else with oil-drums and sails?

message 49: by Pat () (new)

Pat () | -245 comments To say I freak out if there is one near me is a huge understatement!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I always freaked out at wasps, and even got detention from my french teacher becuse of it. Funnily enough, I only got stung once, about 10 or so years ago, by a wasp I didn't even see, who had landed on my coat collar.
