Your reading eccentricities

Do you have any odd or whimsical ways of behaving when you are reading? For example, I find every so often I like to read aloud to myself, in essence becoming my own audio narrator. I find I often like to literally hear conversations between characters. Do you ever do anything like this, or am I alone in being weird like this? ;-)

OK...so I think we probably all do weird things. I couldn't believe what I was reading yesterday toward the end of the book I was reading and I started basically talking to the book (nook). My boyfriend was like "do you realize that's a book?". Uh...yeah...but I couldn't help it!

I talk to my books when the characters do something stupid,when there are revelations,when things aren't going how I want,ect...My brother used to come and ask who I am talking too.

I do this, my kids think I'm weird for doing it then I caught my daughter doing it to! It was really funny.

I so talk to my books. I also tend to get so excited with some of the action that in will read out loud in an excited voice like others care!

If I'm reading a book with some scary/tense moments on them then I always end up sitting up more and getting all tensed up like something is going to jump out of the book at me. I guess sitting up and leaning toward the book helps me get evenmore into the story?

Gotta love that. My daughter thinks everything I do is stupid and then I catch her being just like me all the time. She hates it when i then point it out to her.

I can't remember ever reading my book out loud to myself or talking to my book. But when I have just read a really good/exciting/thought provoking part, I read it out loud to my husband.

I have a habit of getting out other books or getting on a computer and looking up people, places, artwork, maps, monuments, etc. when they are menyioned in a book I'm reading. Sometimes this is to familiarize myself with the unfamiliar and sometimes it is just out of sheer curiosity.

Amber, I do this also when reading books or after watching a movie that is based on true events/people/places.

I´m usually threatening the book. I tell it: "better it won´t end like this or you better have some more action or you won´t get more than 2 stars if main character finds out he´s adopted". I demand of it to be original

I hadn't thought about that, but I find I do the same thing, pull out other books or get on the internet to do research in the middle of reading.

I do the research thing, too. Sometimes I look up a word and find out how it is pronounced. I have kept a little book for vocabulary words from my books, but I have slacked off that since I have a kindle fire with the dictionary highlighter. I am surprised that I haven't worn that thing out.

I love maps, and I find maps that go with my books. I love to know exactly where the action is taking place and trace it on my map.

I do a lot of gasping and saying, "Oh no." My kids think it's hilarious. I had a strange fascination with my voice when I was a child. I did most of my reading aloud until I got married. Maybe it's an acting thing. lol

This really applies when I'm behind with challenges etc - I'll regularly calculate how many % of the book I've read so far...

They have recently added how many minutes to the end of a chapter and I find myself seeing if I can beat it or if it really takes that long! It's actually kinda distracting.

My kindle shows it at the bottom corner, in the opposite one as the % done shows in. Showed up there after the last update it did.

It drives me crazy that my kindle doesn't have page numbers.

I love to read historical fiction. I find it fun to look up people, places etc after I have finished a book.

Wow, yeah, I completely wouldn't be able to concentrate with something like that. How accurate is it?

Doesn't seem very accurate to me, but it seems to change a lot.

I find that if something is mentioned and I don't know exactly what, where, or who it is, I have to look it up. I also like to read good parts out loud to my hubby. It's normal for me to react audibly to something in my novels as well, whether it be with a laugh, a smile, a frown, a snort, or an "Oh no!"
