Stephanie Ackerman The Sound Of Butterflies by Rachael King

Just curious, has anyone read The Sound of Butterflies by NZ author Rachael King? It sounds intriguing and I have been wanting to read it, but I (perhaps foolishly) just read a couple of reviews from people who gave it only one star, and it sounds like something incredibly dark and gruesome happens! I am squeamish and a massive wuss, and don't want to be kept up at night, lol. Does anyone know if it's really that bad? It otherwise sounds like something I'd very much enjoy. Any help would be appreciated! I don't need a spoiler, just maybe an idea of how gruesome from 1-10, ha.

Tiffany (tiffanynz) | 9 comments I loved it. I think Rachael King is brilliant. I read it two years ago so I can't remember it very well but I don't think I found it especially dark. That's certainly not my lasting memory of it anyway.

Stephanie Ackerman Oh wonderful! Thank you for that, I had been looking forward to it until I read the reviews, so will just go for it, methinks!

Bethlehem I remember enjoying it too and don't recall it being all that dark...it was interesting and atmospheric... a bit like an Allende novel.

oh that's good to hear, many thanks for that! I have taken the plunge and am starting it today... :-D Allende is on my to-read list, too.
