JenniferJ wrote: "OK can we count tomato as a fruit or veg or either?"I will take it as either. It is commonly associated with being a veggie, but I think by definition it is a fruit.

cucumbers have seeds but those watermelons are head scratchers too, LOL
man-made food is scarylindy seeds make it a fruit, c'mon ladies didn't somebody else do a since project on our friend the tomato - fruit or vegetable?
and has anyone wondered since veggies don't have seeds (neither do some fruits) how do they make more?
is a zucchini a fruit or vegetable? The zucchini is an immature fruit. It is the swollen ovary of the female zucchini flower, but is usually prepared and presented as a vegetable that is cooked in a savory dish or as an accompaniment to a main dish in a meal.
like the tomato, zucchini is a fruit that's treated like a vegetable.
I always though the rule was that if it grows in the ground it is a vegetable and if it grows on trees, plants, vines or bushes then it is a fruit. So a tomato is a fruit. Pumpkins have seeds but they grow in the ground and are therefore a vegetable.

Just to totally screw with this some more... Pineapples grow in the ground. Saw a grove of them while in the Philippines several years ago and felt like an idiot when I asked the in-laws what they were. When you got closer you could see all the *pineapple* tops - they looked like mini bushes, lol
Jenne wrote: "I thought they grew on trees Melissa."So did I prior to that - my father in law laughed and laughed at me
Lol! I also though they grew on trees. Turns out they grow on plants in the ground like strawberries:
Wow, and this is exactly why I didn't take a stand on the tomato. Fruits and veggies rules are worse than that darn i after e rule.
What are you looking for with the bonus word, celebrity?Actor/actress, artist, athlete, author, musician, etc?
I knew the question was coming Amy. I was off copping. Here is what was acceptable in round 3.
Celebrity Acceptable synonyms: Famous person(s), Superstar Any level of celebrity works as long as it is a person that several would recognize. It can be a the name of the actual celebrity or the hint of it, for example “That sparkly vampire guy”, doesn’t mention a name but I bet you all know who I am talking about. The celebrity can be fictional such as a millionaire playboy, a sports star, rock star, the king or queen, news anchor. However, the celebrity has to be a celebrity in the world of the book. Most people know who Boo Radley is but if you read To Kill a Mockingbird, he isn’t a celebrity in that world so it won’t count. Biography or memoirs would probably have a celeb on the cover.

If I find the word celebrity used, will that be acceptable?

Sam wrote: "I just want to make sure, but would a reporter work for celebrity?"In the right setting. I'll try to explain.
Just being interviewed by a reporter on the street is not good enough.
But saying I love watching Dan Daru's report on the morning news would work.
While anyone outside Denver, or even those in Denver that don't watch Fox news have no clue who Dan Daru is , if I saw him out on the street I could be like, "Hey your that guy on the news." So in my world he is famous, and other people could recognize him as such. But the intern reporter who just happens to get the story about a daring rescue effort that doesn't get much face time on the news I wouldn't consider them a celebrity.
Now if it was a newspaper reporter probably even less likely to be a celebrity. Maybe a sports writer, if you are talking to a group of sports nuts...
The character is a reporter for a "tabloid widely circulated from Chicago." If it doesn't work I'll try to find something else, haha.

I'm leaning toward no. But that just may be my lack of knowledge in the tabloid world.
Ask yourself this: In the world of your book if you stopped 100 random people on the street would at least 10% of them recognize the reporter by name?
Does the reporter ever get stopped by strangers when his name gets mentioned? "Oh your that guy?". Kind of situations.
Yeah, probably won't work haha. Oh well! It's hard to tell without reading the book.Would local politicians count? Like, mayor of a large city?

Yes, local politicians would work. I may not recognize all my local officials by face in a crowd, but I would recognize their name.

Table is the word of the week.
Celebrity is the bonus item.

Thanks Kathy.
Alright Dawn, I promise this is the last time I'll bug you before admitting defeat and choosing a different book :P You said politicians would work, but I just want to make sure it does in this context. The sentence is "They were a team specially appointed by the mayor of Chicago..." Would that be okay?
