Very good story! Any woman can learn something from Ruth.

Ok, my memory of the that is starting to come back.

I actually can't wait to get to heaven! Every day I see something terrible happen, especially, when you get on the internet.

I'm with you. I'd love to meet these girls and ask them how they kept up the courage to do what they did.

I know most of us would have a TON of things we would change, but please pick one :).
I would make abortion illegal. That would be my number one priority.

same here. that or alcohol.
Oh yes. Alcohol. It causes so much pain and suffering in my neighborhood.
First allow God back in schools.

The US tried that already! Prohibition. They had to repeal that amendment because so many people began to drink in secret and crime rose at the same time. Banning a substance like alcohol doesn't work because there will always be people who drink, and more people will drink just because it's illegal just like the first time. And more people got sick because the alcohol was poorly made. And there is nothing wrong with alcohol merely the abuse of it, and being in a sinful world, you can't legislate whether or not people abuse it. That's not the job of Christians anyway--to control what other people are allowed to do. We are responsible for our own actions and that's all...we can't pretend to be God; we aren't Judge; we aren't perfect. I understand your intent, but Christians made prohibition in the first place, and it failed horribly.

It is evident that morality can't be policed or legislated against. For instance, there will always be people trying to abort babies and while I vastly disapprove of it, I don't think that would be a good goal because when it was used to be illegal, so many women died trying to get themselves out of "trouble." And since all licensing is legally set by the state and not the federal government, it'd be difficult to take away gay marriage either at this point. I think the more doable thing would be to allow Bibles and God back in schools officially so that studies wouldn't have to be student-started, student-led. Teachers of faith should be allowed to at least mention that fact to their students. You don't have to be irritating and in-your-face proselytizing, but if your students knew you were a person of faith, it would be easier for them to come to you with questions that might arise just because God was permitted to be mentioned at all.

Either bring God back into schools or make abortion illegal.

People would still drink though, it would just be harder for them to get it.

What you said was only true, though. I completely understand your reasoning behind it.

I think it has to stay legal. To make it illegal would only make it less safe for the women would seek them out anyway. We would be repeating the days when women bled to death because of mangled back-alley abortions. Women have been aborting or attempting to abort babies for centuries, and legalizing abortion has saved the lives of many women. I do believe abortion is the murder of innocent children. I do find it very sad that it exists. But it wouldn't change the hearts and sinful desires of women to make abortion illegal again, and it would only put women in needless danger. Unfortunately, this is one of those issues where you have to decide for the lesser of two evils. A woman who has an abortion murders that life, but that innocent child goes back to God while if a woman tries to have an abortion and dies, there is a much higher likelihood that that woman will spend eternity in hell because she is responsible for her sins.
Abortion dates back to ancient times. It's always been around. Legal or illegal, people are not going to stop aborting babies.
Those are good reasons, Rachel. :) But making abortion legal just incourages women to have an abortion. Very few women try to kill their baby themselves, so very few babies would die if abortion was illegal.
Also, legalizing alcohol incourages people too, although banning it would have a lot of disadvantages.

If people can be so easily encouraged to commit acts of cruelty, then you have to question if they even had stable moral values to begin with.
Right. Less than half the people in the world have been taught good morals at all. I guess we shall have to try a lot harder to bring the Light into this world. :)
makes sense. val had that arguement too. my only problem with that is that murder is the same as abortion and its not legal. murder being illegal doesn't stop it but it does punish ppl who do it.

That's what I think as well. If you make it illegal, then less people would have an abortion. Why not save as many as you can.

Exactly!

I would make it easier for people to become US citizens and work to defend our borders better. Defiantly something I would do.

yeah. i think making abortion illegal is also a moral statement. telling God we will not allow people to kill our babies. even if ppl do illegally. abortion being legal is sorta saying oh its okay..

I have no idea what I would change. There are so many things to change, so how can I choose one? I think that I would start taking control of the illegal immigration. It's just so out of hand, you know?

Never mind. I totally and utterly agree with what Rachel said. I can't even believe that the thought of allowing God back into the schools didn't even cross my mind.
