SOLVED. Sci fi/fantacy Future where magic exists with Mordred (king aruthors son) [s]

I read this book 20+ years ago. I don't remember much, however it reminds me of Piers Anthony's Incarnations of Immortality where both science and magic coesixt. Mordred (king Arther's son) is a powerful mage.

I'm pretty sure the book I read was part of a series.

From her on I'm not sure of anything. I believe he only appears at the end. I also believe he is a good guy. I also want to say the main character has a gem imbedded in his chest (it could also be Mordred).

I know this is not a lot to go on but hopefully it rings a bell with some one.

This sounds like the Wizards books by Simon Hawke. I didn't link to single one because you are right, it is a series.

Mordred is character in this series, a good guy, and has a gem imbedded in his chest.
