Steven (gallifreyan1218) If we are counting THEs then you can add my The Serpent's Shadow... Otherwise I didn't have any Ms or Ts this week. :(((

message 52: by Barb (new)

Barb We'll count it this time, because I wasn't specific enough in the initial post :) Next time, I'll know better!

message 53: by Jane (new)

Jane | 206 comments I just finished Amy's Story (Fang Chronicles, #1) by D'Elen McClain by D'Elen McClain before midnight.

message 54: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) Way to go Jane!!!!

message 55: by Barb (new)

Barb Because this mods' RaT is such a huge challenge, Steven created a separate thread for it, so announcements and progress updates don't get lost in everything else that's going on. You can find that thread HERE

This is the place to post your goals, your ideas for our team's theme, and ask any questions you might have about the RaT. Thanks :)

message 56: by Barb (new)

Barb Yay Jane! I added your book to the list :)

message 57: by Alba (new)

Alba Hi everyone, new group member here :)

So far, I have added 5 books to the shelf. If you have looked at my Shelves, you'll see that I am into the Highland Hottie Scotties at the moment. (Mmmm, Gerard Butler anyone???) My tastes in genre changes regularly, as I tend to get bored easily LoL

So far, I have read Shadow Highlander (Dark Sword, #5) by Donna Grant Darkest Highlander (Dark Sword, #6) by Donna Grant and Thirty Nights with a Highland Husband (Daughters of the Glen, #1) by Melissa Mayhue Highland Guardian (Daughters of the Glen, #2) by Melissa Mayhue Soul of a Highlander (Daughters of the Glen, #3) by Melissa Mayhue which I see our Fellow Team Member ~Mariee~ is also reading. YaY

message 58: by Alba (new)

Alba @ ~MARIEE~ How are you enjoying the Melissa Mayhue books? I'm about to start the forth one, I just love those Alpha Males :) I picked alot of them up from a car boot sale for about £1 each, such a bargain. Would you be interested in reading any of them together, sort of like a buddy read? Let me know? Would anybody else like to join? :)

message 59: by Barb (new)

Barb I've never done well with buddy reads, although I've been tempted from time to time :)

Mariee's been dealing with sick kiddos, and I think she's fighting the bug herself, so it may be awhile before she responds to your post, Alba. Didn't want you to think she's ignoring you!

message 60: by Alba (new)

Alba I just read over the past posts and come across that. Poor Mariee, Her little ones sound quite poorly don't they, Bless them. I hate when my 2 are sick, they want constant attention, but as twins, they comfort each other. I can't imagine how tired Mariee must be, sick herself and with 3 sick little ones. Hope your all feeling better soon Mariee.xxxxx

To be honest Barb, I've never done a buddy read before, but I've seen them mentioned on GR so many times, I thought it might be nice to try it.

message 61: by Alba (new)

Alba Just started Outlander (Outlander, #1) by Diana Gabaldon at 870 pages long. WOW.

message 62: by Barb (new)

Barb Good luck to you, Alba!

message 63: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) Perhaps the next Mini-Game idea we can do is for everyone to pick a new series, and to read the first book in that series, and keep reading that series until our timeframe we set is over.

After the read-a-thon, I mean. :)

message 64: by Barb (new)

Barb That's a possibility, but I usually don't read series books back to back. I need variety in my reading :)

message 65: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) Le sigh. I finally have a remotely creative idea and you go and shoot it down! X)

message 66: by Barb (new)

Barb Not at all! LOL Just because *I don't reach series books back to back doesn't mean others on the team won't want to! And maybe I could break my "rule" for the sake of the team :D

message 67: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) I'm just teasing! Just an idea that popped into my head.

I don't always read them back to back... Lately I've been splitting them up to keep some variety involved.

That being said, I'm off to work more on book four of Sookie Stackhouse... which I am reading directly after book three -- but there were a few books in between books two and three hahahaha

message 68: by Diane L (last edited May 14, 2013 09:20PM) (new)

Diane L Along the lines of Steven's suggestion, we could each read book 1 of one series, book two of a series - not necessarily the same series, book three of a series...Then those who want to read a series start to finish can do it but those who jump around can just look for a series where they need to read book two, another where they need to read book three, etc.

message 69: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) That's a fun idea!!!

message 70: by Barb (new)

Barb That does sound like fun :) Would they have to be read in order? #1 first, then #2, then #3, or could we skip around? I can see reasons for doing it both ways. If we do them in order, it would be a 'challenge' just to see how far we can get. If we skip around, the challenge would be sticking to the books we'd committed to read LOL

message 71: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) Oh lordie, I don't know if the accountant OCD-ness in me would let me read in non-numerical order.

Of course, if we choose to do this one, we need a few days to plan. I can think of a book one, a book two, a book three and a book five. I'm reading a book four now (Inferno)(DOH!!!). I'm sure I could find something.

BUT, I must say... I REALLY like this idea. :)

message 72: by Barb (new)

Barb Oh there would most definitely be time to plan :) For me, since I would almost certainly be reading from all different series, the out of order thing wouldn't bother me. If it was all from the same series, I would have to read in order or go crazy!

message 73: by Diane L (new)

Diane L Just off the top of my head, I would say they do not have to be read in order. BUT they only count if at the end of the challenge you can 'count' up to their number. So if you read a 6, and 7 but never read a #5 you lose credit for the other those two.

message 74: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) My concern would be -- if you could choose to read them out of numerical order, and you never got around to, say, book three... but you read 1,2,4,5... you didn't complete the challenge? Because if it's not in order, it's really just "Read any book in a series" right?

message 75: by Barb (new)

Barb LOL You both said the same thing at almost the same time!

message 76: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) Great minds, they say? :D

I was looking at my "next up in a series" shelf... I have no book fours... except the Robert Langdon book I'm reading now! *SIGH*

Of course, I could just read a book four based off of what I read for book three! haha

message 77: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) Oh, and I like what Evana is saying... that if you read books 1,2,3,5,6,7 then only the 1,2,3 would count, and you lose the 5,6,7 because four wasn't there connecting them! :D

message 78: by Barb (last edited May 15, 2013 06:09AM) (new)

Or, since you're the king of re-reads, you could re-read a book four :)

And can I say that I really don't want to go to work today? After today, I work another five straight days before I get a day off :\

message 79: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) Without reading the others first?! *dies*

Just kidding (kind of)... perhaps!

message 80: by Jane (new)

Jane | 206 comments Oh, that sounds like a good idea. Looking forward to it.
But I think some rereads might have to be part of it depending how long time we have for the challenge.

message 81: by Barb (new)

Barb Steven wrote: "Without reading the others first?! *dies*"

Well, I thought you'd have a series that you'd already surpassed book #4 LOL

message 82: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) Yes, but when I re-read them, do you think I can skip volumes?!?!

message 83: by Barb (new)

Barb Steven wrote: "Yes, but when I re-read them, do you think I can skip volumes?!?!"

ROFL Oooops, didn't think about *that! LOL

Steven (gallifreyan1218) Okay everyone! We have a new READING MINI-CHALLENGE! It's going to be a little bigger than normal, so it has its own thread to minimize update posts getting lost in discussions.
