Zoltan Istvan (zoltanistvan) | 6 comments Hi, I just joined. Thanks. Im the author of a recently published philosophical science-fiction novel, The Transhumanist Wager, which upends modern morality and culture, and involves various time elements. As a former National Geographic journalist covering conflict zones, I've experienced my share of strange things. If you're interested in new, revolutionary, and anti-establishment ways of thinking, especially using science and technology as guides, my visionary thriller will give you much to ponder.

You can find out more about the book and purchase it on Amazon ($0.99 for ebook (limited sale time)/ $11.05 for paperback):

Feel free to contact me with any questions or just to say hi.

Cheers, Zoltan Istvan

chvang | 14 comments Cool. I wonder what your experience as a Nat'l Geo war correspondent brought to bear on the question of how a future beyond-human society would, should, treat each other morally, divvy up resources, how technology will be used/misused, all those stuff sci-fi tries to address.

Zoltan Istvan (zoltanistvan) | 6 comments Hi Chang,
That's a very interesting question. And not an easy one to answer. 20% of my novel describes my very own experiences in war (of course, all through the eyes of the main character, Jethro Knights). And you can see how Jethro gets affected. And especially later in his life, how he's more exposed to horror and difficulty than most others.

One thing is for sure, I took many of the questions and ideas expressed in the novel very seriously. I think once you have seen war firsthand, it's impossible not to see moral implication in just about everything one does or writes.

I hope you'll give my novel, The Transhumanist Wager, a read. The early reviews have been great and, most people, whether they like the story or not, have found things in it they had never considered before. And I think that's always a good thing.

Cheers, Zoltan

Zoltan Istvan (zoltanistvan) | 6 comments Hi Chang,
One more thing. While my book is fiction, the many ideas and dialogues in it will make you think its non-fiction. It's a new philosophical work.
Cheers, Zoltan

Cue Music Who Wants to live forever?

Sounds interesting a bit bicentennial man?

Zoltan Istvan (zoltanistvan) | 6 comments Hi, My book is quite philosophical. It's been compared a few hundred times to Atlas Shrugged, however I'm not the biggest fan of that comparison. The philosophies of the book are quite different. It's very heavy on ideas (and controversy), and not a one-sitting reading.
