I read this book sometime in Jr High. The opening scene is a gang rape scene. The protagonist is actually in the house as a group of teenagers are trashing the house. They pee and defecate all over the house. The boy (he's, I think, 13) believes himself to be a superhero of some sort. Going forward, he believes his grandfather has discovered his secret identity. Therefore, he throws him over the balcony of his apartment.
This is as far as I got. I had to return it because there was a waiting list for it. Whenever I tried to find it, it was never available. It wasn't even at the public library. So much time passed that I forgot the title of the book. I've always wanted to finish it. It was really good, it actually reminded me a little of Catcher In the Rye. It was nothing like it, but the attitudes of both protagonist were very similar. Please, if you know what the title is, tell me! I will most likely remember the title when I hear it.
