Why Gin let Clementain to beat her up!

But i still love these books!!!!!

I gues author is trying to make up for it by making her recles and folish, when she schould make those oponents more poverful.

Plus if you read previos books then you should know that she schould have far more power then is shoved in this book.
Only reason to do it this way is to show that Gin can use her power more precisely now, but author found sily way to show it.

If Gin wrote a cookbook wouldn't you totally buy it!? I don't know what it is but I get hungry every time I get to her descriptions of cooking or serving. Ms Estep has such a simple but vivid way of writing those scenes.
I may just need to make something new for dinner.
Sorry for that interuption.. PS. Gin has all the jewelry: a cuff and doesn't she have a ring or locket to store extra "power" in?

I would love a cookbook!

Compered to what she usualy used she berely touched her povers - I mean have you read previos books! Not to mention what she did took much more energy than kiling one person even giant.
Agree it wouldnt have been good fight scene, but this way it wasnt good either, becouse it in no way fits with what we know from previos books.
Author made her weaker then before and continued story as if she had been that weak all along.
There were so many ways to make fight believable and interesting. Like giving Clementain some fire pover so she cant be frozen, but insted Jennifer Estep created this ridiculos scenario.

I was speaking of her using her povers in any single batle not in hole book.

Actualy she didnt use her povers that much in that book- becouse they were taken from her.
She used alot of her magic fighting Mab Monro, or in that cristal cave or in eny serios fight against another elemental.
Even in the first book fighting air elemental she in couple of minutes used more pover than in this hole book and she became much stronger with each book.
Also even before that when she fought other robers she was injured even tho in previos books she defieted much more poverfull oponents with ease.
It just seams to me that Gin all of the suden became 2 -3 times weaker than before withaut any explanation to it.

Finaly! Answer that actualy has some logic behind it! Gin realy doesnt rely on her povers alot especialy ice povers.
That said she schould have known. I mean how much pover it takes to freaze airways, or lungs, or heart or any other important organ.
And stone magic should have worked to. For example in one of previos books was mentioned that you can turn oponents heart to stone with it.

I didnt notice it before, but this actualy is argument in my favor. She shuldnt have been comfortable with what she did. She never done anything like that before. So no blind instinctual reaction here.

1)to make fight last longer
2)to show how much more precise Gin is with her power (with I honestly dont see she done things far more precise before). It is abiosly gona be important in future books.
However Author didnt give any halfway deasent reason for Gin to do it in such a complicated way. Such reason caul have easily been created - for example Clementain could have some weak elemental powers - not enough to fight Gin autright, but enough that Clementain would have time to kill her before her povers are exausted.

I'd love a cookbook from Gin. I know most other readers, I've seen in some of the reviews not enjoy all the descriptions of what she is cooking. But I absolutely LOVE IT. Also there is less of a chip on her shoulder I think when she cooks than in other aspects of the book. I swear I like Gen but man, when she is in full assassin mode, she has a total chip on her shoulder and just expects EVERYONE to accept all her actions because she loves them so much and HAS to do what she HAS to do as the assassin to save the day.

That is all true, but weard part abaut it all is that people araund her so easily accept it. I mean how many people she has told abaut what she does and how few of them had any misgivings abaut her profesion.
And those who did have such misgivings all came araund to her way of thinking preaty soon. I always thought that it doesnt make any sence.

Or what I personaly find most intriguing is your theories of how this or any other scene could be improved.

True enough. And as for theories about what other stuff could be improved, to me we'd be here for a whole other year entirely discussing that sorta thing. Pretty much writing is on the wall a bit with this author in regards to what she needs to improve and how many peeps have mentioned it in their reviews. So if you want further discussion and thoughts I'd say check out the reviews. Kind of what I do after each book I read. Can be a bit of a hoot.

For example she could have easy freazed Clementaine to death. I mean she bearly used ice magick that day, based on previos boks, she should have more then enough pover to turn Clementain in giant popsicle in half a second flat.
Instead she makes up this ridiculos plan with a spear.
