I am ten and going to read, although I have at a very high reading level and I am very mature for my age, I think you should be alowed to read a book if you want to. What I mean by high reading level is I have read : James Patterson, Rick Riordan books. I have read Wonder, Out of my mind, Eggs, Hoot, Chomp, Maximum Ride series, Percy Jackson series much more! I think that I and other younger kids should be able to read the books they want without people giving us grief! PS no one can stop us!!

It's a great series, and I don't think the kissing is that much over PG, but just some of the concepts and decisions that are made are a little beyond the mental capacity of a 10 year old, in my opinion. And I may just be generalising 10 years to be immature, but I just don't quite have the faith that they'd get the most out of such a great book when they are still learning basic things.
So I would put it off, purely so your child can understand it more clearly and get more out of the book :)

If they are mature enough, but it's not for many 10-year-olds.

Oh yeah, that's the perfect age.

I am 10 and read it. It all depends how mature you are. It is not bad at all, only a few kissing scenes, and suicide."
I have to say, wait till eleven or twelve or have a parent preread it.

I'm not saying that you shouldn't read it, but there are tons more books out there more suitable for 10 year olds to read. You would probably understand it all, but you might get more out of it when you read it when you're older. Why rush to try to read it? There are tons more books out there, you could always just save that one for later.

I read it at 11 but my mom was really open about dating and sex so it wasn't a big deal and the only swearing was hell but I don't really count that as a swear word so it depends on how mature they are

It's an appropriate age just read it it's not bad

As for the concerns.
Well there's........Kissing? For goodness sakes people, have none of you seen a freaking Disney movie? Guess what the main couple do in those? I'll give you a hint! It involves KISSING! smh -_-
Violence? Pfft, anyone who watches Saturday morning cartoons would get far more violence in one damned episode than the entire franchise!
Suicide? Well, finally a legitimate concern! Now this is where that whole "depends on the child" comes in. Some can handle it much earlier than others.
Language? My swearing vocabulary far exceeded the mild so called "swear words" in this book when I was like 8. And I learned all that on the playground.
Stop treating kids like they're freaking made of glass.

There are definitely some mature sixth graders who could read it, but i think older grades would enjoy it more.

It really isn't that bad, there are some cute parts but its not like only about the romance. I would say 5-7 maybe.

I would say 12 but it depends how mature the individual is.

Plus there's only like one page that has got mild content
My mum was fine about letting me read it so I'd say whenever as long as ur parents are alright with it

Haha! Yeah I think you'll be fine. Lol.

Now, it's one thing if you want to check sexual content or anything, but I don't understand these random age limits.
If you are a child, you need to ask your parents. They know your reading ability and your maturity level. I don't believe we should ban books from children unless their parents have a specific reason. ex. not letting a child read Divergent because they are ten. No. ex. not letting a child read Divergent because they are twelve but the last time they read a dystopian novel they got nightmares for weeks and the child's parents know it is best not to.
If there is no reason other than, people their age aren't USUALLY ready for it, or you don't think they'll understand every word, let the kid read.
If you are trying to find out if you are ready for a book, try to find a parents guide. It can tell you the facts and your family can make a choice.

It really depends on the person.

But, I did read The Hunger Games series before the Divergent series. I don't know if that makes any difference.
