What do you use as a bookmark?

I do too. More like whenever I buy a new book I find and put a bookmark between its front inside covers. So each one of my books-to-read are sitting on my shelves with its own bookmark inside. I love to pick up a brand new book with a brand new bookmark. By the end of my read the book looks a little worn and the bookmark does too. So I like to start a new book with a new bookmark.

Quite a few years ago, I received a laser printer for my birthday and downloaded all kinds of software for projects ranging from certificates to photo Christmas Cards. I made up a bunch of my own book marks, laminated them and did a punch hole at the top for self made pompoms, ribbons or a charm of some kind. I even made one that attached my house key so that if I were reading in a doctors office and forgot a bookmark, I'd used that one temporarily. The bookmarks were printed with different things. Poems, inspirational quotes, jokes or a fascinating fun fact. Let's just say my printer is broken now and my nightstand drawer is full of these wonderful creations to use for years to come.

When you laminate them, I find the plastic slips between the pages and I lose them often. I prefer cardboard only, like normal bookmarks and business cards.

Hate to say it, but I use bookmarks of my own books.When a new books comes out, the old markers need updating. So, I use them or turn them over for taking notes!! Otherwise, I'm page corner turner…not on library books or lenders, of course.

When I was a kid I collected baseball cards, and still have a shoebox full of them (the shoebox itself is not vintage, coming from the '80s. When I start a new book I reach into the shoebox and blindly pull out a random card. I've found it's a fun way of reconnecting with these artifacts of my youth.

I have several from around the world too, Linda! My boss travels a lot and brings back keychains and book markers. They are so unusual but I can't bring myself to use them. But I did bring back a couple from when I took the family to Germany and I do use those.

Cool idea, Bill. I've got a bunch of old baseball cards, myself. I'd probably try it out, but, I use tickets from Oregon football games that I attend. Does the same thing, though. Reminds me of some memorable games.

But, baseball cards are a great idea. Just be sure you don't pull out that Mickey Mantle rookie card and get it all dog-eared and bent up.

Hope someday you will realize that, Bill. Autzen Stadium is a great place to be on a fall Saturday afternoon. If you do get out this way, let me know. I can't promise I can help you get a ticket, but, I might have some contacts that would help with that. We, a couple of friends and myself, have 3 season tickets that we share. Sometimes one or the other of us can't make it for one reason or another, and we try to get that ticket to a friend. Again, can't promise, but, you never know.

I used to use post-it notes. Then I came across those lovely small magnet bookmarks and bought the 'crime' set and a friend sent me some lovely butterfly magnet bookmarks, so I go between the two sets.

I always try to keep the bookmarks that I get for free at the library or other places, but sometimes it never works.
However, I end up using a piece of paper, my book receipt, or my string bookmark. I got the string bookmark from Barnes and Noble. It has an F at the bottom of the string and a crown at the top of the string,

I use postcards of some kind. Usually free
