Here it is! The go-to place if you have any questions about the group. Now, this doesn't mean comment with questions like, "What should I eat for lunch?" or "How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?" Nope, this is for questions about the group itself, new topics, anything you need to ask the admins. We're here for you, and we're happy to help! So fire away. :D

R. (rholland) | 18 comments Does anyone recommend a quick reference guide on how to use goodreads? I find I'm spending more time reading through this and playing around with it than it seems like I'm getting anything accomplished. I feel like I'm going through this blind and want to make sure I know the do's and don'ts of being an author on goodreads. For example how to add friends and what not to do as an author.

Hi Rolanda,
I'm curious. Is there anything in particular you are looking for? Are you a writer? A reader? Promoting a book? Wanting to make friends? Join a book club? There are a number of resources available. Yes, I agree one could easily squander time on goodreads. LOL

Cheers,
Michala

Elizabeth,

We have the ability to make the group private, which means the posts wouldn't be available for anyone to see who isn't a member. However, at that point, it discourages new members from joining. We don't want to come across as closed off or unwelcoming, because we are all here to learn and grow. There are varying levels of privacy, but again, we have this set as a public group so anyone can join and see what we're doing here. Does that make sense?

Thanks,
Ashley

Thanks Michala,
I am a writer wanting to make friends, start a book club for my books if that is possible and discuss other books. My current friends don't read so I don't have any one that I can add from facebook that will use goodreads. I am very new to all of this, facebook twitter, and goodreads but goodreads seems to be the best place to find readers and writers that enjoy the same things. So I would like to focus all my learning time to this write now.

Michala Tyann (michalatyann) Goodreads is definitely a great place to find book clubs. Also starting up your own book club and moderating that is an easy process. I hope you find your place and if you ever need assistance, you have a wealth of resources here among AHA. :)

Cheers,
Michala

Maryah (mureyeuh) Hello, I'm Maryah! I don't use goodreads really, but I want to get used to it and really dive into the site.

I've self-published three books, but have since then taken them off the market because I felt self-concious...

I'm working on a new book right now, and I wanted to do everything right with this book. I'm hoping this group and goodreads can help me.

Someone said I should put my book up on here and make an account as an author. Is that possible? Is it safe?

Janice Baker (janicebaker) | 3 comments Hi! I'm not sure if this is the place to post this question/issue.

I had a personal page on goodreads and am trying to change it over to author. I posted my book (not yet published but will be on amazon May 2) and "found" my book and linked it to me. The message said I will receive an email from goodreads when they convert (or something along those lines!).

How long does this usually take? Or should I contact them requesting assistance? Its been about 2 days now.

Hello all,

Just a quick note to apologise for my infrequent visits the last two weeks. Work blocked Facebook access due to misuse and I logged in through that. Found a way around it now so I will be here again as usual.

I am wondering how many unpublished writers we have here with a view to starting a thread just for you. You can pose your questions and feed from those that have experienced your fears, concerns or confusions.

Or am I the only one yet to publish :(

Let me know and I will start the thread.

Ian, nope...I am unpublished as well, although I am set for a June 21st release date for my NanoWriMo novel. (YAY) I think it would be great to have a thread for us peeps. Great thinking!

May I ask why you pulled your books down? Would you like someone to read them and give you some 'private' thoughts to maybe make you feel better?

Cheers,
Michala

K. Velk | 23 comments I am not sure about the group's policy on announcing Kindle free days (for other group members). I would think this is one place on Goodreads where a writer could say - hey, go click! but I am not really sure... I am running one this weekend and you know the rest. Thanks.

K-

I'm sorry I didn't get back to you sooner on this, but yes, it is perfectly fine to promote freebies. Most of us here love free stuff, and most of us love to read, so it's a great place to promote. I wish I'd been able to respond sooner, I'm cleaning up the page and trying to organize it again since I think my co-admins have abandoned me. If you have another freebie anytime soon, check the folders first because I plan to have a folder dedicated to self-promotion and freebies. That way everyone will see it. :)

Thanks hun!
Ash

Shay Fowler | 27 comments Hi! I have a question about structure. I've got to deal with a tricky segue between the first two books of my series. Where is the best place to ask for some advice?
