Well if you count those two, then what about the other 4 wizards and Glorfindal (he had to have come back some time)."

The wizards (Istari) are all lesser angelic beings (Maiar) who were sent by the higher angelic beings (Valar) or "gods" if you will, to Middle Earth to encourage and aid all the Free Peoples (Men, Elves, Dwarves, etc.) in the battles against Sauron. Only Gandalf remained true to the calling. Saruman became enamored of power. Radagast "went native" becoming enamored of the creatures of Middle Earth, and the two Blue wizards went into the far east and became corrupted and turned to the dark arts.

S Frodo basically had PTSD. So the film HAD to include this, even though it plays like one ending too many; it even shows up in the obscure 1980 animated ROTK.

Mark Kaye Sam goes too in the end, as he was also a ring bearer.

Joaquin Mejia I was not really upset over the ending. In fact, I kind of like it. It was a happy ending, but it came with a cost. The One Ring is destroyed, Sauron is gone, Aragorn is King of Gondor and Arnor but it also means that the Elves are going to leave and all the magic of Middle-earth will be fading away. Tolkien really is a master at making bitter sweet endings. If people will just read "The Lord of the Rings'' in a much deeper way then they will understand that Tolkien's world is a world that is much sadder than most people think. Every great victory in Tolkien's stories followed by great loss.
