message 401: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Yeah I know. I don't usually do that, but I couldn't stand reading the rest if the book without knowing for sure.

message 402: by Angie Elle, BaBAMB!!! (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments I'm reading The Sweet Gum Tree by Katherine Allred . I'm loving it so far!

Jen (at last!) (jenkeith) | 222 comments Well, I'm reading Her Royal Spyness (Her Royal Spyness Mysteries, #1) by Rhys Bowen . It's not a romance, but it's pretty cute so far.

message 404: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 159 comments Jen - That looks interesting. Make sure to tell me how it goes and if it's worth reading!

I saw that that was out... let me know how it is?

Kay and Regina... are we starting Dancing on Coals by Ellen O'Connell tomorrow or Thursday?

Is it ok if we start Thursday? I just started After the Night by Linda Howard a romantic suspense. I should be done by Thurs.

Regina...I can't wait to hear what you think about Half Moon Hill...I just hope it's better than the last book which was so disappointing.

message 407: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Yeah, totally. I still need to read a Linda Howard book. Can't wait to hear what you think.

message 408: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments I know...I've been wanting to read something by her for awhile now. So far, so good.

message 409: by Ladyhawk (new)

Ladyhawk Lori McD wrote: "OK, I have to confess... I had to skip ahead towards the end of .."
Gasp! Lori! I'm shocked! You're suppose to suffer the anticipation! ;0)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments Finished Rush (The Game, #1) by Eve Silver and the idea for the story was a great one but the execution was meh. The ending was good though and I'll probably pick up book 2 at some point.

Started After Hours by Cara McKenna and will start Shrapnel by Stephanie Lawton in the morning with a friend.

Lori, do you feel relieved knowing? I never believed any of it, so I didn't feel the urge to peek, but I could see why it might be a "need to know."

message 411: by Ian (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments Demonic Dora by Claire Chilton Wings (Wings, #1) by Aprilynne Pike

Demonic Dora started pretty good...very funny story about a girl who summons a demon. But it's gone to hell...literally, she is now in hell living with aforementioned demons parents. At the moment it's feeling a little over-done.

Wings seems a little under-done. It feels more like a book report than a novel. Fingers crossed it comes good.

I need cute and quirky....any recommendations?

message 412: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I am ready to start tomorrow Dancing on Coals by Ellen O'Connell and am excited about it! Did you all read the shorts on the author's webpage? I enjoyed reading those.

I am still only at the beginning of Half Moon Hill by Toni Blake -- I skipped the last two to read this one, so I never got to the bad ones although I thought the third was not particuarly strong. I still enjoy the setting. :) I like who is the main character of this one though -- and I wasn't aware of how she came to be in the series but I like it!

Lori (lorimcd) Jen, Sinatra fan wrote: "Well, I'm reading Her Royal Spyness (Her Royal Spyness Mysteries, #1) by Rhys Bowen. It's not a romance, but it's pretty cute so far."

Jen, I love that series - it's fun and quirky, but really cute. Kind of fluff, but in the best of ways! Hope you like Georgie, too.

Ladyhawk, I just couldn't stand reading any further until I knew what was what with Jace. I was seriously trying to figure out if I could keep reading these books, because the death toll and the gloom/doom was starting to get me. Not to mention the tension!!! But I really loved this book! My mom does it all the time, but I usually only skip ahead if I'm considering not finishing the book or I just can't stand it. I figured 2 out of 2 was good enough this time! (I never did with Dex & Perry - can you believe that?)

Wings was very young/silly at times. Not one of the better representations of the genre.

What are you looking for? Contemporary Romance, Chick Lit?

Kay would probably be the one to give good recs for anything light.

message 415: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments I can try to give some recs, Ian. What are you in the mood for?

message 416: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments have you read Molly Harper, Ian? she falls into the quirky cute category for me - mostly PNR lite, but she has some straight contemps as well

message 417: by Ian (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments I'll cross genres but I like funny quirky heroines...and I don't much like violence.

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Ian wrote: "I'll cross genres but I like funny quirky heroines...and I don't much like violence."

I always turn to British Chick Lit when I want fun, quirky and light. I really liked A Girl Like You by Gemma Burgess You Don't Have to Say You Love Me by Sarra Manning Adorkable by Sarra Manning

Have you read anything by Rachel Gibson? Her books tend to have quirks and are a lot of fun.

message 419: by Ian (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments Oooh...Adorkable looks cool! Getting it right now.

message 420: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Adorkable is so fun. You'll have to let us know how you like it!

message 421: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments yeah, i just ordered Adorkable...lol!

LOL! I hope you like it too!

message 423: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments so much for not buying any books - as I decide to make a trip to the UBS near me

message 424: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments LOL.

message 425: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments I have a list of what I am looking for - there is a Megan Hart book I want (because I don't want to pay the price for the ebook version and my library doesn't have it), and then some books from Jo Davis' firefighters series

message 426: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Which Megan Hart book?

message 427: by Dee (last edited May 01, 2013 02:58PM) (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments Dirty - it was recommended for me for a challenge and i'm in the mood for some gut-wrenching emotional erotic romance

message 428: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments That looks good. I need to get on with reading another book by her.

message 429: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments wanna do a buddy read?

message 430: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I'd love to! But I need to track it down, looking at my library right now. ;) When are you going to read it?

message 431: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments I've only read a few by Hart and Dirty is one of the better ones. It is gut-wrenching and has some effed moments. The character in that book makes cameos in Broken by Megan Hart

message 432: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I saw you gave it 4 stars. Oh interesting, b/c I want to read that one by her too. I love effed up moments in my books.

message 433: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments Broken made me sick to my heart when I read it - I was so emotionally caught up in it

@Regina - sometime this month - lemme see if the UBS has it, otherwise I might have to get it used elsewhere - then we can plan

message 434: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Cool, sounds good.

message 435: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Hart really writes those moments well and also so realistically as well! I need to read another one of books again soon. Maybe The Favor by Megan Hart when it comes out.

I agree, Dee...Broken really hurt me to read.

message 436: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments I also realized that I put a review of Broken on my blog, but not on GR - so I just rectified that

message 437: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I have that one lined up too. :)

I will definitely let you know, Courtney!
I'm really liking it so far, Lori. It's very cute.

I have the arc of that... I need to read it soon. I haven't read a Hart book in such a long time. I'm not sure i'm ready for her f'ed up themes. haha!

message 442: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments I'm still working on After the Night by Linda Howard . It's ok so far and a bit outdated. The guy in this is an ass and I don't feel like he's an likable ass. so, I'm setting it aside to start Dancing on Coals by Ellen O'Connell for the buddy read with Regina and Leea.

message 443: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Yay!! I'm almost done with On Demon Wings and then I'll start our buddy read. I cannot wait and I need something lighter. So this is perfect!! I do have a sick kid... So I hope he'll let me read. Ha!

message 444: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments I probably won't be able to start tonight anyway. I'm volunteering this morning at my son's school and then off to work afterwards.

I hope your son feels better!

message 445: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I am also setting aside my book -- I am bored with it and just not like it. I feel like it is the same story again and again in this series: Half Moon Hill by Toni Blake

I can't wait to start Dancing with you ladies!

LOL Kay - if he isn't a likeable ass all bets are off.

message 446: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Was so excited for Breaking Point (Troubleshooters, #9) by Suzanne Brockmann but it didn't really do it for me. Might have been because of so much of it being played out through flashback.

message 447: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I think a lot of us thought that book was a let down -- so much built up to get to the two romance story lines in that book.

I am starting tonight or tomorrow.

I hope he feels better Leea!

Dee let me know if and when you want to read Dirty.

Tellulah will you be going on to #10?
