She's kind of awesome. Not in the "every book is great" kind of way...in the "when everything clicks she's so good you'll forgive her few misses" kind of way. One of my favourite authors and if you enjoy audiobooks all her books are narrated by Amanda Ronconi who is one of my favourite all-time narrators.

message 4355: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 159 comments Finished What I Did For a Duke (Pennyroyal Green, #5) by Julie Anne Long , which was highly amusing and surprisingly enjoyable. Might look into the author's other books.

Perhaps going to read On Dublin Street (On Dublin Street, #1) by Samantha Young .

I've never listened to an audiobook *runs and hides*

My eyes aren't what they used to be and I find I get headaches if I read for too long. Audiobooks are a pretty good way to get through books. Generally if it's available as an audiobook I'll go for it...I kind of have a huge backlog of books to get through and if it wasn't for audio it would be overwhelming.

2008 so it's getting on in years...isn't it funny that these days 5 years is considered old for a car. One of my first car..."

Ian, I replied in the Random Chat thread since my post was kinda long and seemed to be going off topic! lol!

It is a lot easier than it used to be. I remember posting instructions, but it isn't like it used to be. ;)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments I finished Black Ice (Ice, #1) by Anne Stuart and actually liked it, considering both of the characters had issues.

Will discuss more tomorrow.

message 4363: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Hope everyone had a good weekend. I finished a short erotica Beg Me by Shiloh Walker which I enjoyed. I'm not sure what to read next but don't want to get into anything too heavy before World After comes out on Tues.

message 4364: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments I'm about half way through Black Ice and I just don't know if I like it...

message 4365: by Angie Elle, BaBAMB!!! (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments I think it was some people in this group who liked Lisa Jewell...

There's a book of hers up on Edelweiss, fyi.

message 4366: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Finished Black Ice and it was okay, some parts I loved and others I was rolling my eyes. I would still like to read her other books.

Now what to read next... No clue? Is World After (Penryn & the End of Days, #2) by Susan Ee coming out tomorrow? Maybe i'll wait for that.

Happy Monday everyone. I hope you all had a great weekend!!

message 4367: by Crystal (new)

Crystal Navarro (kanarenee) I'm waiting for World After (Penryn & the End of Days, #2) by Susan Ee to come out too... waiting for it to pop up on my Kindle!

Until then I'm working on NaNoWriMo and continuing my reread of Catching Fire (The Hunger Games, #2) by Suzanne Collins . I've been so busy it's been a slow re-read.

message 4368: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Yes...World After is out tomorrow. I can't wait!

I'm currently reading The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion and I'm enjoying it. It's in the guy's POV and he's an avid nerd. His thoughts are very nerdy, smart and meticulous so it's cracking me up.

message 4369: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Finished a couple off the NG pile - Blue Lines (Assassins, #4) by Toni Aleo which I thought was about hitmen because I saw the word "Assassins." *snort* I hated it. And not because of the misunderstanding because I don't mind hockey stories. But the girl was a crying doormat and the guy was douchebag with very few redeeming features.

Then I read What Nora Knew by Linda Yellin because Nora Ephron is a goddess to me and this looked promising. For the first half I kept thinking I was going to DNF it because it was so precious. But then it picked up and I had some fun with it.

message 4370: by Leea, Escape Artist (last edited Nov 18, 2013 08:10PM) (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Sweet! Then i'm waiting. I was going to read the ARC of How To Run With A Naked Werewolf (Naked Werewolf, #3) by Molly Harper but I haven't read the first two books. Do you think I should read then or will I be okay?

message 4371: by Laura (new)

Laura | 15 comments I started Cold As Ice (Ice, #2) by Anne Stuart but having a hard time getting into it. I may pause to read Angelfall (Penryn & the End of Days, #1) by Susan Ee .

message 4372: by Laura (new)

Laura | 15 comments Leea wrote: "Angelfall, yes! Then you can read the new book with us when it comes out next week :)"

I just read this! Definitely reading Angelfall now!

message 4373: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Yay!! can't wait to hear what you think Laura.

message 4374: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments I started World After (Penryn & the End of Days, #2) by Susan Ee ! So exciting!

message 4375: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments Leea - I think so - there might be some jokes you don't get - but the majority of the story is set separate to the other naked werewolf books

message 4376: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Although I worry that you are starting with one of he stories that isn't the best in the series.

message 4377: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments That is true - can we preface by saying if you don't enjoy try an earlier book

message 4378: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I finished The Devil's Reprise (Devils, #2) by Karina Halle . I liked the first half, but the second half really failed for me. I felt like the writing was so amateurish and clunky and the second half switches between the two povs was just not done well. It is odd, b/c I thought the first half was so much stronger. And then the ending and how it was wrapped up? Way to quickly and perfectly.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments Yeah, the more I think about Devil's Reprise, the less I liked it. I might end up downrating at some point.

Finished Cursed (Voodoo Nights #1) by Lizzy Ford and have mixed feelings, both good and bad. I'll have to think about how to review this. The story itself about the voodoo and spirits was very interesting (enough so that I'll definitely read book 2), but the characters themselves were all pretty annoying (except for one side character).

Started World After (Penryn & the End of Days, #2) by Susan Ee and am about 20% in now.

message 4380: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments I'm reading Friendship Bread - very woman's litty but cute

message 4381: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Stacia are you liking it? (World After)

I think the second half was less than 3 stars, I skimmed so much of it. And yeah, Sage has a big cock. I couldn't believe I got sick of hearing about that. LOL. I also didn't end up liking the series cross-over, not enough was done with it to make it effective or worth while. (view spoiler)

message 4382: by Peggyzbooksnmusic (new)

Peggyzbooksnmusic Just read Call Me Mrs. Miracle by Debbie Macomber Only giving it 2 stars. The beginning was kinda cute but the author's writing style is just not my cuppa tea. To be honest I only picked it up at the library becuase I liked the cover!

Finished The Secret Keeper by Kate Morton Gave this one 4 stars. Really liked it. Would have given it 5 stars but it dragged in parts. Loved the ending!

I am so far. Just waiting for Penryn (view spoiler).

message 4384: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Thanks Dee and Regina. I would like to read the first book, I have time because it's not released till the end of december.

World After 20% chap 14...(view spoiler)

message 4385: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments That is so heartbreaking. How Penryn is torn between (view spoiler)

message 4386: by Ladyhawk (new)

Ladyhawk Jumped on the "Molly Harper Bandwagon...." Starting with "How to seduce a Naked werewolf"...my husband flipped out at the title that just happened to appear on my Facebook page!!!! "Disconnected" goodreads and FB pronto!!

I am still reading Shadow of Night but all the talk of Harper piquéd my curiosity. Especially since Regina compared it to Stephanie plum in humor. But very different otherwise. And Lisa has recommended her other series to me in the past soooo guess the timing is just right. Downloaded the audio from "audible"

message 4387: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Lmao!!!! I had to disconnect too. :)

The audio is fun. Enjoy! A solid 3.5 stars for me. Good sexy fun.

message 4388: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Yay Ladyhawk! I hope to read the first book after World After.

message 4389: by Ladyhawk (last edited Nov 19, 2013 08:47PM) (new)

Ladyhawk Thanks Ladies! Looking forward to it!

Ya, that "post to FB what you add to your TBR list" is a great way to get oneself in trouble! Who's idea was that anyway??

Oh and I threatened to unfriend him (my husband) if he didn't lay off..

message 4390: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 383 comments LOL Ladyhawk! I had a feeling combining FB with GR was not a good thing, although my DH doesn't do FB. He barely does email and only does that grudgingly at his business. I swear that I've had to drag him into "modern technology" like answering machines, cell phones, etc. And I had to have my SIL give me an answering machine for my birthday after we got off the party line. When DH called and I let the machine pick it up with the message saying, "Guess what I got for my birthday? Leave a message!" hahahaha! He was SO mad. But got over it. Eventually.

I really like Molly Harper's Naked Werewolf series, as I like everything she writes. And yes, the audiobooks are great :D

I've just started World After (Penryn & the End of Days, #2) by Susan Ee tonight.

message 4391: by Ladyhawk (new)

Ladyhawk Haha Lisa! Ya, NOT a good idea..

Funny how modern technology allows us to be more continuously connected yet requires less actual contact... I swore as I grew older I would NOT be one of those old people who ignore new technology. But now it's thrown at us in buckets. I now have neither the desire nor the energy to keep up with all of it.
I've just started World After (Penryn & the End of Days, #2) by Susan Ee tonight.

Lucky! I still have to read Angelfall (Penryn & the End of Days, #1) by Susan Ee

message 4392: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments I have my FB and GR disconnected for that reason - I don't need work ppl knowing what I read

message 4393: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Or clients. Or parents who send their kids to my house!

message 4394: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments LOL!! That's what I love about my ereader... No more of those bodice ripper covers.

message 4395: by Peggyzbooksnmusic (new)

Peggyzbooksnmusic LOL at the Facebook comments! I'm not on FB but hubby is. I had mentioned to him that I was thinking about FB to keep updated on Outlander so he went to Outlander group on FB and now ALL of the comments update to his account! He went WTF! lol! He has a great sense of humor and gets a kick out of some of the "racy" comments! But he did have to ask me who Diana Gabaldon was!

message 4396: by Ian (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments Peggy Z wrote: "But he did have to ask me who Diana Gabaldon was!"

I have a shelf called "Gabaldonitis strikes Binks" as in Jar Jar Binks. It's reserved for books that are painfully long. I really need to read a Diana Gabaldon book so I can have one on the shelf.

message 4397: by Ian (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments Speaking of Facebook and Goodreads...I think maybe I signed into GR using Facebook and the accounts were automatically linked.
I only have 50 FB friends and while I know them all I tend to reveal personal things about myself when I'm talking about books. I'm not really keeping secrets (view spoiler) but I wouldn't talk to some of the people I know on FB about those things.
Anyway...when the accounts linked all my friends on FB who were also on GR automatically became friends here. Was kind of awkward.

message 4398: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I am more personal here too, something about bonding over books. I agree, awkward!

A friend of mine passed away last night. 35, diagnosed with colon cancer 6 weeks ago. He and his wife just finished their medical residencies and are/were doctors. 3 young kids. It is so heartbreaking. My daughter was closer with them than I was as she sang in our church choir with them. It is just shocking. Sorry to be a downer, I just can't move past this today.

message 4399: by Ian (last edited Nov 20, 2013 12:59PM) (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments Regina, that's so awful. There is nothing wrong with being sad and expressing your sadness. Don't be sorry about it.

message 4400: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments That is just terrible Regina! I know several men who have died of colon cancer in the last few weeks. More friends of friends, no one I know personally but it's still so sad.

You're not a downer, he was young and had so much of a future ahead of him and it just very sad. My husbands best friend was killed in the line of duty at age 30. It was such an eye opener for us & heartbreaking.
