How about a historical? There are lots of those with some cool "loose woman/madame" types. No prostituted in Poughkeepsie lol though it is a great book!

When does World After (Penryn & the End of Days, #2) by Susan Ee come out?? I need to join you guys on reading Angelfall (Penryn & the End of Days, #1) by Susan Ee ! Never read it the first time around!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments World After comes out next week. You should join the Angelfall read. :)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments Finished Angelfall (Penryn & the End of Days, #1) by Susan Ee and think I might raise my rating from 4.5 to a solid 5 because I liked the book just as much the second time and don't even know where my minor complaints would have been.

Starting Black Ice (Ice, #1) by Anne Stuart

message 4305: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Stacia, I may jump in a join you reading our group read. I'm half way through Wrong Ways Down. So maybe start tomorrow. Btw: why does the GR app not let you add books? Sucks!!

message 4306: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 383 comments Decided to squeeze in Black Ice (Ice, #1) by Anne Stuart at this time before I forget about it and have started it this evening.

message 4307: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Stacia I felt the same way, rarely does a book seem better or even just as good the second time around.

I am really enjoying the audio of The Devil's Metal (Devils, #1) by Karina Halle . The narration is so well done. It took me awhile to adjust to the narrator's voice, but once I did it is perfect.

Again Molly Harper has me laughing out loud How To Run With A Naked Werewolf (Naked Werewolf, #3) by Molly Harper . Her books aren't perfect, but they are so much fun.

message 4308: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments I finished Wrong Ways Down (Downside Ghosts, #1.5) by Stacia Kane and I loved it but the book was torture I tell you. Love Terrible and his messed up ways... haha!

I can't help myself, I just have to dive into the arc of Close to You (Downside Ghosts, #5.5) by Stacia Kane which is so short, 35 pages and then i'll jump into our group read of Black Ice - Can't wait!!

I'm conflicted! Not sure if to keep going with the Ice series by Anne Stuart or if to read Angelfall! Decisions, decisions!

message 4310: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Angelfall. :)

I have the arc of How To Run With A Naked Werewolf (Naked Werewolf, #3) by Molly Harper but I need to read the first two books. ha! I requested it thinking i'd have enough time. I better get reading...

message 4313: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments Lisa - if you like historical you could try The Dragon and the Pearl - everyone thinks she is the emperors courtesan

message 4314: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 383 comments Thanks Dee - that looks really good! And it would fulfill that item of the scavenger hunt :)

I just finished Black Ice (Ice, #1) by Anne Stuart - kinda suspenseful and a quick read. I believe it took care of 2 items of my challenge, if I replace A Walk to Remember for the North Carolina item. I wasn't aware of the N.C. connection before reading Black Ice and I had JUST finished A Walk to Remember too (it was a library loan) and I hadn't seen the movie so it was fresh. Anyway, I'm curious about the Ice series and plan to read book 2 of that series some day.

message 4315: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Leea, I don't think you need to read 1 and 2. It isn't a complex world - - and there are references to characters from the first two books, but not anything in depth or that changes the structure of the story. For me, Molly Harper is always a solid 3.5 stars for me. Laughing, funny and good romance -- not too much sex (I could do with more sex, lol). But a good amount. She isn't a 4 or 5 star for me, but I will always buy/read her books b/c they make me happy.

message 4316: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments this one was a 3.5, I liked the first one in the series the best...for me, I just didn't feel the connection like I did in the previous ones and didn't remember the H or h from the previous books - so it felt a bit disjointed

message 4317: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments You are right -- #1 was the best, Cooper's story is great.

message 4318: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments i'm reading Rhythm and bluegrass right now and its good, ut by this point in the first book, I had lots of funny quotes, and so far, nothing really in this one...cute and some lol moments. but no quotes I can steal and use...like my verbal filter is atrophied or the pantless pantheon (all the disney characters who have no pants and how weird is that)

message 4319: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Ha! Yeah, I agree. That series is enjoyable, but not a knock out series for me. Not enough sex for me. The werewolf series has more (no I am not obsessed, i promise).

message 4320: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments you sure? lol!

message 4322: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Never a good sign when I keep wandering away from a book. Apollyon (Covenant, #4) by Jennifer L. Armentrout bored me. Alex is whiny and annoying, I was bored of the dynamic with Aiden and bored of the battle. Why am I planning to read the final book? I have no clue.

Also read Roman Holiday 2 Hitched (Roman Holiday #2) by Ruthie Knox - meh. The funniest thing in it was the last paragraph.

Thank you! I just need to get over my ocd and always wanting to start with book 1... ha!

message 4324: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments What was I saying about sex? The first 8% of The Devil's Reprise (Devils, #2) by Karina Halle is rammed full (pun intended) with sex sex sex! Almost too much for a non-erotica book.

*grin* My library doesn't have the final book and no way am I paying for it so maybe it will break whatever weird compulsion it has on me. Going to start
Two Boys Kissing by David Levithan and so very happy to be doing so!

message 4327: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Interesting story line! I haven't heard of it. I will be watching for you rating/thoughts.

lol...this week the clutch in my Ford blew. Got it back on Thursday...Friday I lost 3rd gear (gear box is toast). Fords are the worst cars ever but hey I get some funny stories out of it. I might even tell a few after I recover from $3000 work in one week.

message 4331: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments You know what ford stands for right? Fix or repair daily or found on roadside dead...

message 4332: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments I love my Ford!!! Haha! But I keep mine to about 80,000 miles.

I read about a quarter of Black Ice (Ice, #1) by Anne Stuart . I'm going out with some girl friends for dinner and drinks tonight, so no reading for me. But lots of wine in my future. Cheers!!

Best song ever from Monty Python (well maybe also the Spamalot song on Holy Grail done with Lego figures!)

Car problems are so irritating. What year is your Ford? At least it's not a Fiat (Fix It Again, Tony)!

message 4335: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments I have a ford too - with major problems - it apparently was in an accident but they fixed it off the books - so no record...

Peggyzbooksnmusic Dee wrote: "I have a ford too - with major problems - it apparently was in an accident but they fixed it off the books - so no record..."

Oh no Dee! That's not right! That's why we always go through insurance rather then letting the owner of the car pay us for any damage. Plus I think hubby told me that cars that have sustained serious damage in any accident are to be tagged as "salvaged" on the car registration. Can you take the people that you bought the car from to small claims court?

message 4337: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments That's not cool Dee. I'm so sorry!

message 4338: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments oh sorry - should have clarified...it was that way when I bought it...the previous owners had fixed it off the books, so you had no way of knowing...and I got it from a dealership...I won't be going back to them - I've had the radiator repaired, so it runs decently now...it has like 70k miles on it...so i'll drive it 'til it dies then get a new one

message 4339: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) All I can think about when I hear Ford is the crazy ass mayor of Toronto who has apparently both smoked and bought crack while in office but is threatening to sue if anyone tries to remove him. What a gong show. Also because a TO Ford dealership put up "No Relation" on their Ford sign. Which made me laugh.

Finished Two Boys Kissing by David Levithan I read David Levithan's books when I want to fumble my way through tears and hope and heartbreak and joy and then break through into lovely lovely fabulous love which feels more vivid for being tinged with pain. I love his writing so much.

message 4340: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments I just laugh at the toronto mayor thing..because honestly...everyone does dumb shit...so he got caught...does that change his politcs etc...probably not all that much...let him serve out his term and then be rid of him

message 4341: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments finished up Rhythm and Bluegrass and The Duchess War - 2 of my normal go-to authors and they were good, but not great

message 4342: by Ian (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments Peggy Z wrote: "Car problems are so irritating. What year is your Ford?"

2008 so it's getting on in years...isn't it funny that these days 5 years is considered old for a car. One of my first cars was a Ford which I drove for 10 years before selling it...I sold it to a friend and he drove it for 5 years before he sold it.

Cars seem to have gone the way of computers. They're obsolete the minute you get them home.

I really liked Rhythm & Bluegrass...I thought it was much better than the first in the series. Not as good as And One Last Thing but nothing can be that good.
