Have now started The Secret Keeper by Kate Morton

I just finished. It was way too slow moving for me...I'm thinking about 2.5 Stars. I will rate and review it closer to the release date.

Leea | 1437 comments I'm at 74% and I'd have to agree. It's very slow moving.

Lori (lorimcd) Hi all - sorry to have been AWOL for so long. I put an update in the Random thread, too, but I think more folks read this thread. Anyway, I've been AWOL 'cuz I was deep into the job hunt, and I just ran out of energy to read much or get online except for the hunt.

Good news, though - I finally landed a job! A contract job, but the money is right, and it gets me a paycheck for the next 4-6 months.

Trying to get to my reading backlog, including Netgalley ARCs. Finished A Disappearance in Drury Lane (Captain Lacey Regency Mysteries, #8) by Ashley Gardner a Captain Lacey mystery, The Devil's Thief (The Saint’s Devils, #1) by Samantha Kane a steamy regency romance - 1st book in the series, Hypnotic Seduction (Seduction Series, #1) by Laurie Kellogg which is a FUN contemp-erotica romance - really good, and the "hotwifing" trilogy of Revenge Sex (West Coast Hotwifing, #1) by Jasmine Haynes , Submitting To The Boss (West Coast Hotwifing, #2) by Jasmine Haynes , and The Boss's Daughter (West Coast Hotwifing #3) by Jasmine Haynes which were all interesting, but 3.5 stars.

Started Tempting a Devil (The Saint’s Devils, #2) by Samantha Kane , 2nd book in the Regency Romance Devil's series. (I have the 3rd, an ARC, from Netgalley, so I'm reading my way up to it.)

Great news about your job!

Loved your review of Hypnotic Seduction (Seduction Series, #1) by Laurie Kellogg

Yay - congrats on the new job, Lori!

A Bad Day for Mercy A Crime Novel by Sophie Littlefield had me LOL so many times in the car today - such a relief, and a release. This audio is excellent. The narrator reminds me of George Guidall, a female George, who narrates the Walt Longmire audiobooks (he's great).

Leea | 1437 comments Oh that looks good!! Can't wait to hear what you think :)

Regina, what do you want to do about Glitterland (Glitterland, #1) by Alexis Hall ? I'm totally flexible, so let me know what you want to do :)

message 4210: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Glitterland looks good too!

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Leea wrote: "I have 10 min left in Carolina Gold... So far nothing has really happened."

Isn't that sad? You get all the way to the end and nothing has happened. I think I will be rating it 2 stars.

message 4213: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Yeah, it's very sad. Especially since my reading time it so precious these days. Plus I feel bad for picking it as our buddy read. You get to pick the next one. ha ha!

message 4214: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Don't feel bad. It's hard to tell with ARCs especially if it's an author we never read before.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments Finished Revealed (House of Night, #11) by P.C. Cast and I don't have much to say about it, other than it had the same annoying stuff that annoys me in every other book of the series, but it's mindless fun.

message 4216: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Stacia...I give you credit for making it to book 11. I couldn't get past book 1. Ha!

message 4217: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Lol. Me either. :)

Leea - how is Saturday for glitter and?

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments This was one of the first series I read back in 2010, so I didn't have anything to compare it to at the time. If I'd started the series now, I wouldn't have finished book 1 either. The first book was pretty bad, as were a few books in the middle of the series, but the last few have been fun. Ridiculous at times, but still fun.

message 4219: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Regina, we start Anglefall the next day and I don't want to get behind in buddy reads. We have time, maybe later this month?

Leea | 1437 comments Great!!

I'm reading Highland Master (Murray Family, #19) by Hannah Howell . Years ago when I finished Outlander and was out hunting for more Highlander books, I stumbled onto Howells books and enjoyed them.

I'm with you! I read one chapter, and the way they talked drove me insane. Come to think of it, it was probably my very first DNF.

message 4223: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Ended up starting Glitterland (Glitterland, #1) by Alexis Hall tonight...

I read the first 3 chapters Regina. How far did you get?

message 4229: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Yay! I loved my re-read -- even better than the first time. ;)

So After Dead What Came Next in the World of Sookie Stackhouse (Sookie Stackhouse, #13.5) by Charlaine Harris was really bad. Not even worth checking out from the library (which is what I did).

That sounds sad. I bet fans of the earlier books are so disappointed with the last few books and also how it all ended.

Looking forward to your review. You'll have to let me know about the steam level. I think I saw a review that said there wasn't much in it.

message 4233: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Thanks, everyone, for your well wishes! Excited about my new job opp.

Reading A Bad Day for Mercy A Crime Novel by Sophie Littlefield in hard back... Lisa, did you love it? Sounds like you did. Also reading Tempting a Devil (The Saint’s Devils, #2) by Samantha Kane , 2nd book in a series; I have the ARC for the 3rd book from Netgalley Devil In My Arms (The Saint's Devils, #3) by Samantha Kane , so figured I should read the first couple of books first. Good stuff in the Regency era!

Can't wait to join in on the Angelfall (Penryn & the End of Days, #1) by Susan Ee buddy read!

Yes, Lori, I really did. It's the first one I listened to on audio and it was hilarious! I loved the narrator. I agreed with Regina's review about it being the best one yet. I just started [bookcover:A Bad Day for Romance|16130124] today but on my kindle because it was only $1.99, I think so I didn't want to use my audible credit on it. Yet. Maybe at a future date when I want to listen to something funny while driving.

I've read all of the Sookie books - couldn't wait for each one when they were released, even when they started to decline, I stayed loyal. Yep, I'm one of the many disappointed ex-fans. I even returned my pre-order DEA to Amazon and "borrowed" a copy instead after hearing the major spoiler. This After book, I'm not even interested in. Reading the spoilers on the Amazon discussion board was more than enough. Wow. A Bad Day for Romance (Bad Day, #5) by Sophie Littlefield see if that posts this time

message 4237: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments I'm half way through Glitterland (Glitterland, #1) by Alexis Hall . Once again my inability to understand British humor is keeping me from loving this book. Trying to channel my Eliza Doolittle but it's rough people and sad. I wish Kindle dictionaries would define slang.

message 4238: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Sorry Lisa I have been MIA. I am so glad you loved it! I really enjoyed the change of setting and the narrator that does that one is hilarious! The commentary on the coffee and everything was great. :)

The Sookie book I just read was supposed to be the after the end of the series -what happens to everyone? And it was so useless! The characters I really wondered about had virtually to information and the other characters, so boring! Yeah, Harris has lost it.

Lisa I am curious about what you will think about Bad Day for Romance. I will message you.

I really liked Glitterland and had problems with parts. I just finished.

message 4239: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments I'm in between about Glitterland. I stopped at 90% Should finish in the morning.

That's okay. I've been super busy too. Hmm, now you got me wondering if something big is finally going to happen between Stella and Goat, since you're curious about what I think! My gawd, can Littlefield drag this out any further? Geez. But I'm still loving the series and I'm halfway thru Romance, wishing I was listening to it instead.

message 4244: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Lisa I felt the same way about bad day for romance - wished I was listening to it.

message 4247: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Hmm, that isn't surprising. But that is too bad. I have found that I only like the Brotherhood series by her -- and then I still have issues.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments I didn't much like the contemp Ward book I read, and the Fallen Angels series I couldn't even finish the first book, so it must just be BDB that works for me.

I finished Welcome to Paradise (The Kincaids, #1) by Rosalind James and it was a fun concept, but the book dragged a little in places.

Working on The Devil's Reprise (Devils, #2) by Karina Halle and sort of reading Waterfell (The Aquarathi, #1) by Amalie Howard but I'm debating whether or not to keep going.
