Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I am at 50% -- there are great laughs in the 40%s. I am so glad this is a long book. It is so meaty and good. This book has been worth the wait. I am glad that SB is writing something different, TS was likely hard to write about with the full case of characters.

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments But, I love that it's in the same world and we'll still get the crossovers. It makes me excited, like maybe I'll actually get glimpses of my husband Izzy.

YES!! Where are you at in the book Regina. Phoebe is funny, sexy and smart.

Umm your husband Izzy... what? lol!

I love all the cross overs but I think that Martel is not getting his HEA in this book, just a feeling. Anyone else?

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments He is mine lady, although Eee is a close second. :)

I am at 50% exactly!

I agree Wendy, the world was too rich for her to abandon as well. It is well developed and so the fact that she doesn't have to start again makes for this to be a better book to start off a series with.

I agree about Martell. I think it might be (view spoiler)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments I'm just getting to Martell stuff, and I'm guessing it'll be (view spoiler)?

Yah, MY husband lady! ;)

When you read the synopsis for this book it hits a little close to home:
Lifelong people-pleaser Beth Chandler will do anything to make a good impression on her future in-laws, including defy her fear of boats to make the ferry crossing required to meet them.

This books sounds funny!

The part with them in the water... was amazing!! I may need to read that again. Once you get to that part Wendy, you have to let us know. I was up this morning read and I bet i'll finish today, so sad!

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments I finished up Whiskey Sour and Fatal Descent - both were ok I wasn't really blown away by either one

Now back to Chicagoland vampires with Biting Bad

message 4115: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments That's a series I want to read, Chicagoland Vamps... Dee, is the first book good or does the story need to build?

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Leea wrote: "This books sounds funny!"
Ian wrote: "Terri Osburn is awesome. Her second book is even better IMO."

Leea and Ian...I'm really into it. I wasn't sure if I would be b/c the heroine is already with someone & then she falls for the brother. But I'm loving all humor which comes off subtle. This is nice b/c some authors throw in too much humor where it becomes unnatural or overbearing.

message 4117: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments Story needs to build - Merritt isn't quite as annoying as Mac in the early fever books (Agee years older) but she has her moments

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I DNFed Drink Deep (Chicagoland Vampires, #5) by Chloe Neill -- I thought the turn of the story was so frustrating and just couldn't get into Drink Deep. I loved the series from book one up until this one. Is it worth moving on?

I will say she gets Chicago right. Which I loved.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments I really liked the first few books but struggled to get through book 4 of Chicagoland (took me 3 tries iirc). I will pick up book 5 at some point, but haven't been ready to yet.

Finished The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde and ended up liking it better than I'd expected. I hated the characters and their actions, but the writing was so interesting and quotable.

Back to Welcome to Paradise (The Kincaids, #1) by Rosalind James

message 4124: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 383 comments I finished Lover At Last (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #11) by J.R. Ward the other day and now I look forward to The King when it's released next year? For Halloween, I'm now reading something goofy and not really spooky, Plum Spooky (Stephanie Plum, #14.5) by Janet Evanovich - "Plum Gooky" ;)

message 4125: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments I guess for me with CLV after hearing the author talk I knew the romance between M/E was never going to be the main story

Thanks,Dee. Makes me glad that the books I have in the Whiskey Sour series were free for Kindle! Won't move them up the TBR list.

[bookcover:The Picture of Dorian Gray|5297] is one I've always wanted to read even though it has such a dark storyline. Hope to make time for it sometime soon!

its not bad peggy - but i've read the later books in the series, and this def. had a new writer, first book in series weakness..plus jack is a lot older than I pictured (mid-40's) - I always thought she was younger from the later books

Oh man now I really want to read these... Ahhh I need more time to read.

message 4131: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments I was up in the wee hours of the morning finishing Do Or Die by Suzanne Brockmann and I loved it! It's one of my favorites by Brockmann, I just love how her writing gets better and better. It's exciting this new trilogy. I'm curious to see what happens with few characters.

Now what do I read next? Ahh the ARCs are piling up and I should tackle those but Do or Die has left me wanting more actions. ha!

message 4132: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments Wait... it's only going to be a trilogy??! I want more than that!

message 4133: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Me too, it's says trilogy or I read that somewhere. Maybe i'm wrong, oh I hope? Regina what have you heard?

message 4134: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments So, lol, I am googling "Reluctant Heroes" and Suzanne Brockmann and one of the hits is my blog post about this new series! LMAO! Apparently, I was quoting from Suz's website and she did say it was a trilogy here: http://www.suzannebrockmann.com/What&...

message 4135: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments I still have her futuristic sci-fi one to try

message 4136: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I was "meh" about it. I don't know if that series is going to happen, there is nothing on her website and #1 was released in early 2012.

message 4137: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments i don't think it was as popular as ppl hoped it would be...she is on twitter, might answer if asked...I kinda don't want to start if its not going anywhere

message 4138: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I tweeted to her yesterday to ask if Do or Die was going to be released in audio and she answered right away. So I don't want to bother her again today! But I did think about it. :P

Has anyone tried this book: Glitterland (Glitterland, #1) by Alexis Hall

It is getting some great reviews and two authors I love Mary Ann Rivers and Suzanne Brockmann both rate it 5 stars.

message 4139: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments i've heard good things about it and riptide has a good rep in the m/m community

message 4140: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Thanks Dee. I think I will request it from NG.

message 4141: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments I've had like zero luck with riptide on NG - they are very picky about who they approve...and I don't meet any of their requirements - certain number of reviews in a month; quite a few m/m reviews (while I read them, I don't review a lot of them because there are other websites that do all m/m etc)

message 4142: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Ahhhhh, well I haven't done any reviews in months and months, so they will reject me most certainly. I have reviewed a lot of Jordan Castillo Price's books, but those are the only m/m books.

message 4143: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments I requested it, we'll see. It looks good and it's getting great reviews.

message 4144: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Hopefully one of us will have luck!

message 4145: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments I'm about 77% into Up to the Challenge (Anchor Island, #2) by Terri Osburn and I'm sad that this author only has 2 books out. That means I will have to wait months before I can read more by this author.

I've been so busy all day...I helped in my son's class for their Halloween party and then there was a parade at school. I got to feed them now before we go meet our friends to go trick or treating. I'm so behind on posts...will try to catch up tomorrow. I hope everyone is having a good Halloween.

message 4146: by Ian (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments Terri Osburn is amazing isn't she. The best way I've come up with to describe her is if you took the very best by Jill Shalvis or Robyn Carr, made it 25% better and then you're getting close to how good she is. The second book is even better IMO.

message 4147: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments That sounds intriguing. I haven't read shalvis yet either.

message 4148: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 419 comments Shalvis is good.

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments I'm having a love/hate relationship with The Edge of Never (The Edge of Never, #1) by J.A. Redmerski .

message 4150: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments I finished up Autumn Bones - I liked it but Daisy was a bit wishy-washy in this one - there are like 3 guys who like her, but either don't want to or she doesn't want them...so it'll be interesting to see where the series go

I also finished up Hour of the Lion - this has been on Mt TBR for I don't know how long...nice to finally get it read and I liked it - don't know what took so long
