Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments I haven't started yet, but I'm glad to hear you're enjoying it!

message 3802: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Thanks, Regina. I'm thinking that the price is so much cheaper than the amount that these readers use to be...so, I might by pass on the warranty.

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments Sadly, Bound by Night (MoonBound Clan Vampires, #1) by Larissa Ione has taken a turn for the worse for me.

I'm really into it. About half way through it and at this point, I just have to know what is going to happen.

message 3805: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments It gets better and better -- the ending of the story (before the prologuish ending) is satisfying. I wish she would have shut the book down at a certain point -- when you get there we can discuss. It is such an action packed book.

I haven't heard much positive about this series -- or any of her other series except for her first initial one (the one I mentioned earlier). But that sucks. :( I hate when it starts off good but turns bad. Kind of like The Outside (The Hallowed Ones, #2) by Laura Bickle -- I wanted that book so bad and it just is bad. So disappointing.

I am reading Shattered Bond (Joe Bashir #2) by Sophie Littlefield and while I am only at the beginning, I am really liking it. I love the characters Littlefield creates.

That is what I would do!

Sadly, I'm not feeling this one. I'm about 60% in and I'm struggling to want to read it. I'm not sure why I'm not connecting.

message 3809: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments I'm not really connecting either. I'm at 68% (view spoiler)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments I just bought the Kindle paperwhite. Yay! But it will take 2-3 weeks before they ship it :(

Leea | 1437 comments Yay! Bummer! I love mine!! You'll love it Kay. Is this your first kindle?

The Paperwhite is pretty awesome. Did you go 3G or WiFi? I think the 3G is pretty useful....but I get a lot of ARCs and it's not a bad idea to use WiFi for those. Amazon charge for downloads of 3rd party books if you use the 3G.

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Leea wrote: "Yay! Bummer! I love mine!! You'll love it Kay. Is this your first kindle?"

I have a kindle touch which I use when I read outside like at my son's games. I hardly use it otherwise since I don't like that it doesn't have a backlight even tho I have a light I can attach to it. I usually read on my Nook HD and that has the Kindle app on it too. The reason I bought it is b/c I want to get back into reading on an e-ink ereader again since it's so much easier on my eyes.

I got the WiFi one. I noticed that I'm usually very close to a hotspot or WiFi if I need it. That's another reason I decided to buy it b/c of the ARCs. It's so easy to send it straight to my Kindle.

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments Kay wrote: "I got the WiFi one. I noticed that I'm usually very close to a hotspot or WiFi if I need it."

lol..I wasn't going to say it just in case you bought the 3G...but I think you made the right choice. The 3G is useful, but if I had my time over, I probably would have rather kept the extra $60 in my pocket.

message 3816: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Yeah, 60 bucks is a bit steep. I also bought the cheapest one with all the ads. But those don't really bother me. I forgot to mention that I can also use my cell phone's 3g as a hot spot so the Wifi one is best for me.

message 3817: by Ian (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments Yeah I do the same with my iPhone...I don't know what I was thinking. I guess I was just dazed by the sparkly lights of the city and by the time my common sense kicked in they had my credit card number.

message 3819: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments yeah, i don't think amazon has changed me anything recently for emailing stuff - but if you go into your kindle account, you can set the amount to $0 - then it will automatically default to wifi

message 3820: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments My first reader, nook had wifi and 3G for some crazy reason I thought I'd need it. Now I just but te $119 one. The adds don't bother me at all. Most of the time I have my wifi off anyway.

Nothing like being home after a long vacation. Although the fridge is empty!! Ha!!

message 3821: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) I have the Kindle Fire 4G/WiFi, and I decided against turning on the 4G. It seems reasonable for the 1st year through AT&T, but they're not my usual mobile carrier, and... it's really tough for me to gauge how much I'll download through the 4G.

Kay, I've always purchased the 2 year warranty, just in case. But I have to say that the 1 year guarantee from Kindle is really good. I've had to replace defective units (yes, it's happened with both my 1st Gen Fire and this HD version) and it was always no hassle and very quick.

message 3822: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) For those of you who enjoy BDSM/erotic romances, I've stumbled upon a new series... The Nature of Desire by Joey W. Hill.

The first couple of books are good - 3.5-4 star reads. But the 3rd and 4th books (a pair, not standalone) are AMAZING! I actually gave book 4 a 5-star rating! (Stacia and Regina, you know how difficult that is for me!)

The 2nd book, Natural Law (Nature of Desire, #2) by Joey W. Hill was either a freebie or a 99-cents book this week at Amazon. See if it still is. The other books are in the $7 range, but they are really well-written and not all hype and fluff. Ms. Hill really goes for the emotion and connection between characters, not just the sex and BDSM or D/s.

message 3823: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments i love the Nature of Desire series...I will say book 7 is a bit weird...and I still have to read book 8

message 3825: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments I don't know of anyone who hasn't at least gotten a replacement refurbished Kindle of their same model. I had a friend who had a Kindle 2 and he broke it and they upgraded him to a newer model (refurbished). Amazon is really great in terms of customer service like that.

I opted out of the 2 year warranty.

message 3826: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments I also noticed that I have been getting a new ereader every other year...so opting out on the warranty is ok by me.

I had the 1st gen Nook also and I hardly ever used the 3g.

message 3827: by Kay (last edited Oct 11, 2013 07:49PM) (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments I also just ordered a used copy of P. S. I Love You (Sweet Dreams, #1) by Barbara Conklin which is from my youth. I think I read it around 10 yrs old and it was one of the first romance books I read. I can't wait to see how i'd feel about it as an adult.

message 3828: by Angie Elle, BaBAMB!!! (last edited Oct 11, 2013 09:02PM) (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments I loved the Sweet Dreams line when I was younger, Kay! I think my favorite was called 'My Secret Love.' I still have it somewhere.

I also loved the 'Couples' books.

message 3829: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments I loved this series too. I don't know how many I read back then but I read a lot! I use to take the bus to Berkeley by myself just to go to the used book store to find sweet dreams and other various books I enjoyed back then.

message 3830: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments Oh wow! I read P.S. I love you as a kid too! I didn't even remember until you posted it, hahaha. I loved that one. I read a few of those. I remember I used to get them from the used book store that was in our downtown area. It's not there anymore, but that's where I would find all those.

Couples too! I loved those books.

message 3833: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I agree. I can't count how many times I have read Outlander - I think maybe 5 times, I agree that every time I read it I catch something new.

What button is that Angie?

I just finished Shattered Bond (Joe Bashir #2) by Sophie Littlefield and I really enjoyed it.

Am starting The History of Love by Nicole Krauss

Leea | 1437 comments Regina... I cannot wait to read that series by Littlefield.

I just got to the part in Outlander that always makes me cry, (view spoiler)

I'm drowning in ARC's - Keep me away from NG people, it's a dang addiction and I can't possible read this many books. Yikes!

Lisa | 383 comments I just finished The Restorer (Graveyard Queen, #1) by Amanda Stevens which is a perfect October Halloween read, involving ghosts, graveyards and romance. Oh and murder mystery. I really liked it and so picked up book 2 today. The Kingdom (Graveyard Queen, #2) by Amanda Stevens

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments Fans of contemporary romance...you really need to get onto the Terri Osburn train before it leaves the station.
If you take the very best from Jill Shalvis / Robyn Carr...maybe even Susan Elizabeth Phillips, then make it 10% better, you've got Terri Osburn. Just finished Up to the Challenge. Really good.

Up to the Challenge (Anchor Island, #2) by Terri Osburn

I've started Written in Red which is good so far...a bit more wordy than I normally like but I'm not pounding my head into any walls (yet).

Written in Red (The Others, #1) by Anne Bishop

Also started (@chapter 2) Loveland...the prologue is a mess, but I have hopes for a very good Western HR.

Loveland by Andrea Downing

I do that all the time and mostly given up trying to write reviews. But that's just me. Mine usually sound so lame :/

The Restorer is really good and I nearly gave it 5 stars but I'm trying to not be so easy with the stars so now I mostly give out 4 and 3 stars LOL. I think it has just the right amount of creepiness to not totally scare readers. At least it didn't scare me and slept just fine, even while camping and having read it before lights off. Although, it has potential if I was alone reading it and it was stormy outside. There's a "thing" that reminded me of the Fever books - that dark evil blob thing. And lots of mystery - takes place in the South.

Lisa, I'm not so quick to give out 5 stars, etc. I did give it five. I think. I'm waiting for the other books in the series to come out. Each book got better and the writing is so descriptive. Just fantastic.
