What are you reading?

I can't to listen to this audio book. Anne Bishop definitely doesn't write stuff everyone else is writing. Her Black Jewels series is very different but good:

Sounds wonderful Leea.

wow that book has so many up and down ratings -- 1-2 and then 4-5.

I keep hearing nothing but good things about that book.

I just checked my friends -- nobody rated it less than 4 stars, which is amazing.

I am over halfway through

Yeah, that looks really good. I can't wait to hear what you think DG.

This has been on my list. Looking forward to your review.

December's poll will be coming soon. There will be no nominations. Instead, there will be a second chance vote for previous runners-up.

I haven't continued with

I read it years ago, and I didn't think it was that great, Kenzlei. It was slow. I thought the second one was, too. I didn't read the third.

How about Wednesday? I'm excited for it too!

Not sure what to read next...

Kay, I read and enjoyed

LOVE Carlsbad area! They have an awesome Farmer's Market. Have a great time - I'll be a bit jealous!
Catching up on posts, so if you have more news that I've missed (likely), I'll catch it soon. ;-)

Not saying people who rate high are a problem....but when a lot of people rate a 3 Star book 5 Stars I start to wonder what's going on...."
Totally with you, Ian. I'm one of those tougher raters. Stacia and I've talked about this, too. To me, a good book is a 3.5 star book, so many of the books I read get that rating. The book has to be better than good to get a 4 star rating; I realize it's still subjective, but some books just have that extra "something" that tickles my fancy or puts it into another category.
If everything's a 5, then nothing is. (A non-unique quote based on the movie "The Incredibles".)

Well SHOOT - with so many so close (or relatively so) to the San Diego/North County area, we need to have a True Love Get Together there soon! One of my favorite areas!!!

Angie, LOVE the Night Huntress series. Not everyone loves past book 3 in the series, but I'm hooked. I wasn't as thrilled with the Night Huntress World books, but they're not bad.

(Sorry for all the posts ... catching up.) Marcella, I love Vlad, and I'm not thrilled with his books. I'm not so into his love interest. After all we've been through with him, I just don't see them together. But, hey, that's me.

I am game. San Diego is about an hour and a half from me.

I am feeling the same way. I do not like how Frost portrays Vlad in his books. He is sort of a douchebag.

Finishing up Linda Howard's

Got a few new books that just released. I'm really into the Lexi Blake series, so I'm happily reading

Then the latest Mackenzie book by Jennifer Ashley is out,

Lots of books on the TBR shelf - literally and figuratively. I feel like I have ADHD, 'cuz it's tough to stick with one book. I have too many to choose from right now!
Still on the job prowl... tough market. I knew that, but it's a whole new world of online apps and trying to network/connect my way through the first few possible levels of getting an app past the initial screening. It's not like I'm technically challenged, it's just a whole new world of ways and means to find those golden opportunities. It's been really knocking it out of me lately.

I just don't like who she paired him with. She seems too whiny for me. Or something.

The other pairings (Mencheres and Spade) seemed better to me. Maybe because I'm such a Vlad fan, I expected more? But I'm probably being a grump about it. I just think Leila is waaaay too young, both in years and maturity, for Vlad.

I'm hooked on Bones. These books would have to go downhill in a big way for me to bail. I'm hoping that doesn't happen.

I agree with your assessment of Leila's lack of maturity and youth. Then again, maybe the author thinks Vlad needs someone like that to loosen him up. Guess we just have to wait and see.

I just started the audio of

When are you going to read Dr. sleep? I'm looking forward to Danny's book.

i felt the same Marcella after reading bk1. i wanted the old Vlad from NH. but in the second book i liked the development of Leila and Vlad's relationship. i also forgot about my opinion of him in bk1 once i read bk2. i think that's why i liked it so much.
it's almost like bk2 should have been bk1 and parts of bk1 should have been in bk2. hehe. i don't know.

Stacia I am! I am on the wait list for the audio book at the library, so as soon as I get it I am starting it. For us, just having read this -- it will be such a huge leap in time from Danny being 5 to him being an adult. I am really looking forward to it.

Wouldn't that be cool! I'm in Oceanside which is right by Carlsbad!
Lori, sending good wishes for your job search!

i was pissed too with him at the beginning, but if i remember correctly he explains and redeems himself. plus all the fighting and conflict is what did it for me in this book. ur mind may change as u continue to read. maybe =D

I'm still reading
