Let me know how it is, Regina! It looks good. :)

Leea | 1437 comments Yeah, that looks good Regina.

message 3453: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I just started it!

D.G. Regina wrote: "I think long ago in the other group I predicted that DG wouldn't like her, lol!"

Yup, you predicted it. I can't stand her. She takes the easy way out every freaking time! And believe it or not, what made me utterly despise her wasn't (view spoiler)

Leea | 1437 comments I finished Forged in Dreams and Magick (Highland Legends, #1) by Kat Bastion and it was really very good. One of my favorite book of the year. Just non-stop action and a different take on time travel. Sometimes you just luck out when grabbing books off Negalley - ha!

Now i'm going to read Jagged (Colorado Mountain, #5) by Kristen Ashley , I love the Colorado Mountain Series but I was not impressed with my last KA book, so this is my last hope. Excited to get back into the world of characters I love.

Happy Friday! I'm off to drinks with some girlfriends - can't wait!

Marcella (marcella6) | 436 comments Someone just mentioned to me another thread of a new announcement from GR. No more criticizing authors. Has anyone heard about this?

message 3457: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Yes. And no shelves that are about authors.

message 3458: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments unless they are positive shelves...

message 3459: by Ian (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments I haven't heard it. I wonder at what point you become an author? I mean, I've written a few booklets on self defense strategies for women...I wonder if that makes me an author?

message 3460: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments Wow... That's a grey area. A negative review is criticizing an author, to a degree. I mean, where the heck do they draw the line?? That pisses me off.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments I just made my booklikes account (after complaining not too long ago that I wouldn't do it, haha). http://stacia.booklikes.com/

Haven't imported any books yet. It's been a bad migraine day, so I probably won't poke around much for at least a day or two.

Yes, I'm pissed about the announcement today.

message 3462: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 436 comments A lot of people are upset about it. It seemed a shady way for them to do it. What has happened to this site?

message 3463: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments i'm checking out riffle books, but ehh...its hard to add books, you have to actually search by book title - author searches don't come up

message 3464: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments I love Goodreads, and I think that's what ticks me off about it. I haven't found another site that I like like this one.

message 3465: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments I didn't get the message... That still sucks. It feels like GR is trying to monitor how reviewers review. I mean, people tittle their shelves all kinds of things. Ticks me off. I wonder if these are some of the changes that Amazon now owning GR.

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments I'm reading Jagged (Colorado Mountain, #5) by Kristen Ashley .

message 3467: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments I found the goodreads changes: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...

I just hope things don't drastically change too much around here b/c I love this place too. I also wonder how much Goodreads value readers vs. authors/business/$$/advertisements.

I will quote Stacia Kane again because she said it perfectly:

“Readers have the right to say whatever the fuck they want about a book. Period. They have that right. If they hate the book because the MC says the word “delicious” and the reader believes it’s the Devil’s word and only evil people use it, they can shout from the rooftops “This book is shit and don’t read it” if they want. If they want to write a review entirely about how much they hate the cover, they can if they want. If they want to make their review all about how their dog Foot Foot especially loved to pee on that particular book, they can.”
― Stacia Kane

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments Was just reading the new guidelines re authors. I'm actually not all that worried. I figure people will find ways to get around the rules.

My when hell freezes shelf is still there...I'll be curious to see how long it lasts.

Kenzlei | 13 comments just finished The Perfect Play (Play by Play, #1) by Jaci Burton loved it can't wait to read the next in the series now I just started The Cowboy Takes a Bride (Jubilee, Texas Series #1) by Lori Wilde

message 3471: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I followed you, Stacia!

I'm very disappointed on this. Who told GR that they have the right to tell me what's important for me to make a decision on a book?

message 3472: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Booklikes is very slow loading today and yesterday I had over 30 follows, I am thinking a lot of GR people had the same idea yesterday and today. I hope booklikes responds to the demand, gets a new server and adds some forums. The problem with BL is that it isn't as interactive.

I'm interested in The Cowboy Takes a Bride, let me know how it is when you're finished.

Leea | 1437 comments Yeah, i've been on Booklikes.com for a few months. I don't do much there but post my reviews but I think it's helping me with netgalley getting more arc's

PS. their site is so slow today... ugh!

message 3475: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) I didn't get that notice nor the one that supposedly exists for new guidelines around author behaviour.

Readers have the right to think whatever they want about a book. People get to be smart enough to parse what they need and what works for them from a review free of restrictions.

I'd love it if everyone in cyberspace (and everywhere else) could be mutually respectful when engaging in debate.

And guidelines on either side make me nervous that we're heading down a slippery slope of censorship.

message 3478: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I finished Hard As It Gets (Hard Ink, #1) by Laura Kaye it was decent. Good development. And great sex scenes. :) it is romantic suspense which I didn't anticipate. I gave it 3 stars.

I am at my son's soccer game and I just realized that my short is on inside out. So embarrassing.

Oh man, that's not good. Not sure why I think it's so funny, maybe because i've done that before. Hugs girl!

We had 2 games today, one we got the wrong time and missed (that sucked Garrett was upset) the second was called on account of lightning and lots of rain. After my SIL & BIL came out to our house and we drove all the way to the field.

It just came out, Leea. It was originally a November release, then an October one, and I think she just couldn't wait. So she released it. I love that Indie authors are able to cater to their readers. Lol

Sorry about your shirt. I've done that before.

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments I finished up Five Flavors of Dumb last night - this is def. going to be reviewed on my blog - I like finding books where disabilities aren't always cast in a negative light, the this is how it is type mentalitity - but you could feel piper's struggle at times

message 3485: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments So I was wrong - above I said I read Monica McCarty and didn't like it, so not true! I read The Warrior and didn't like it -- the highlander + the double name with M fooled me. :)

It was surprisingly good, right? I liked it a lot.

message 3487: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Finished Jagged (Colorado Mountain, #5) by Kristen Ashley and I was surpised at how much I did like it. the last few books were so bad for me and I don't know if things have changed with this book being published and the last few were her releasing them... Not sure. I know a few people DNF this. Just saying, something about this book was touching to me.

Now i'm going to try, Seize Me (Breakneck, #1) by Crystal Spears , The male lead is a character I read in another story and I was curious about him. I hear this book has some heavy subject matter, not sure why i'm in the mood for that.

message 3488: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 436 comments I haven't finished the book yet Leea. Been a busy weekend. I'm about a third of the way through.

message 3489: by Dee (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments I've picked up Rock Hard (Sinners on Tour, #2) by Olivia Cunning again in an attempt to finish it.

message 3492: by Peggyzbooksnmusic (new)

Peggyzbooksnmusic Finished Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See and liked it. Will definitely be reading more books by her. Library has most of her books for Kindle.

Tomorrow am starting Shadow of Night (All Souls Trilogy, #2) by Deborah Harkness as a buddy read with Ladyhawk and Lisa. Really looking forward to this!

message 3493: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I just started the audio of The Devil's Metal (Devils, #1) by Karina Halle

I am reading The Love of a Good Woman by Alice Munro Rivers by Michael Farris Smith

message 3494: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Actually scratch that, I am starting the audio of The Shining (The Shining, #1) by Stephen King

message 3495: by Ian (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments Just started Cassie Scot: ParaNormal Detective(20% done). I thought a rating of 4.38 after 82 ratings was a pretty good sign. I was wrong. It's not bad, but 4.38? No way.

Cassie Scot ParaNormal Detective by Christine Amsden

message 3496: by Ian (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments I'm not saying anything untoward is going on, but I kind of wonder how a book can get a rating like that...I was looking through the people who rated it high and they all seem genuine.
But nobody I've ever seen and I read a lot of books that fall into this genre. You'd think I'd see one or two of the usual faces.

message 3497: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments I finished Seize Me (Breakneck, #1) by Crystal Spears and it was okay. Not sure what to read next?

message 3498: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 436 comments Finished Jagged (Colorado Mountain, #5) by Kristen Ashley . Loved it! KA redeemed herself after Ally's book.

message 3499: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Still winding my way through my stack of hard back books... I'm currently reading Seven Years to Sin by Sylvia Day , which is a Sylvia Day (Bared to You); since this is a stand-alone book, I'm liking it. She seems to do a decent historical. It's evocative and fun so far.

Got so stuck on Sons of Anarchy, that I stopped reading for awhile - *gasp*!

Ian - saw that you finished The Bone Season (The Bone Season, #1) by Samantha Shannon . Seems as though you liked it, but that it's perhaps not your fav? Is that solely because of the set up for the 2nd book at the end?

Dee - See you have The Bone Season, too! Can't wait to hear what you think. I loved The Cuckoo's Calling (Cormoran Strike, #1) by Robert Galbraith ! Much more than I expected to; figured with the hype because of JK Rowling and all... but it's a shame that the book didn't do well without her noteriety - it's that good.

Oddly enough, I can hardly remember it so it's probably not gonna go down as one of the greatest books ever. But I remember enjoying it...except the ending.
