Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments it was cute ;) Molly is on my auto-buy list pretty much - although her publisher likes me and I get auto approval on her books pretty much

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Ditto as to both for me too! But I do prefer to listen to her books as the performances are outstanding. I am glad I saw this post it reminds me to read it.

So what did you think of Raid? It was my favorite book.

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Hey everyone the ending of the last Sookie book has been leaked and is all over the Internet. Just in case you do or don't want to see it.

I have to be honest--I was disappointed. I loved Raid, but I felt like the book was rushed. It just seemed like there was more to tell.

Lol...Regina's on the DL, but she's got the juice!

message 309: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments there have been some melt-down's of epic proportions on CH's facebook page - apparently a fan in Germany who got an early copy posted a twist by twist review on her facebook page for every one to see...supposedly it is also on Amazon, but i haven't seen it yet

message 310: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 419 comments Why would the reviewer do that?

message 311: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 436 comments Angie...I know what you mean. I felt there was more to say but overall his was my favorite book. KA did drop the ball as far as giving us more of a story...wish there had been more character development and backgroung info to go by.

apparently, they hated/felt betrayed that much...

i've only read the first book, so I can't comment on the series

I agree on all counts, especially Raid's background info. I feel bad for the characters when I think too much was left untold, as if there was an injustice done to them. Lol

I still enjoyed what KA gave me.I'd rather be left wanting more than sick of it before it's done!

I have to say, knowing how it ends has made me VERY glad that I made the decision to give up on the series a long time ago.

message 315: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 419 comments I haven't even read the series but is popular. I would have been pissed.

LOL@ Wendy.

message 316: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 436 comments Well said Angie. I feel the same way. I hate when an author does an injustice to a character. And as a reader I fell somewhat cheated.

message 317: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments LMAO! If I was Harris I'd be pissed, definitely. As a reader, sometimes you read an end of a series and you just feel so betrayed... Knowing how it ends, I just KNOW I would have felt that way. I haven't read the last 2 books and I still feel that way.

message 318: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 419 comments Is CH angry?

message 319: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I am so glad that I haven't bought the last few. And I DNFed the last one bc it was so freaking bad. I feel bad for Harris, in a way. And the reviewer, likely violated so many rules/agreements but I am relieved to know and not surprised.

message 320: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Samantha wrote: "Is CH angry?"

Yes I think she had a reaction to it -- but i haven't read it. Just read the spoiler, lol.

message 321: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments i think she was fustrated - there was a post on her facebook from her, giving people warning...and lots of bitching on that one...and her admins are deleting any posts that have spoilers in them, since the book doesn't come out for another week...

the same thing happened with Shadowfever - IIRC - someone leaked like the first 70 pages about a week before the release

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments I don't even read the series but I had to read the spoiler ending.

That's stupid. Why do that to an author? So what if the series didn't pan out the way she wanted it. Shut up. LOL.

Haha Stacia. Curious.

message 324: by Angie Elle, BaBAMB!!! (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments Now I want to know how the series ends, and I haven't even read it.

message 325: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Dee that is right. I purposely didn't read that though -- except the first chapter that she purposely released (I think)?

Stacia -- LMAO!

I am such a loser. I haven't read more than 1 page a day and here I am on GR. :)

message 326: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Angie wrote: "Now I want to know how the series ends, and I haven't even read it."

LOL!!! IT is funny how that happens.

message 327: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments It's cuase you miss us!

message 328: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments I get that people get annoyed when a book/series doesn't resolve how "they" (i.e. the reader) thinks it should - but ultimately, the story/the characters/the ideas are those of the author and they do what they believe/think/imagine is the best/most fulfilling/true outcome

message 329: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I do!

I do agree with that Dee, I believe the author has power and we are along for the ride. I do hate when authors respond too much to readers but..... it really frustrates me when authors do not have their characters stay consistent -- like Alcide, Eric .......... (I am still ticked about Alcide. I loved that guy, but I am partial to werewolves).

message 330: by Dee (last edited Apr 25, 2013 06:51PM) (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments i just heard a good quote on Project Runway that kind of applies - constructive criticism is just that, but you don't have to take all of it, because if you do you'll end up with something boring and unimaginative - paraphrasing

message 331: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Exactly!

message 332: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 419 comments Good quote, Dee. I want the author to give me a good story despite what everyone wants. So if the outcome doesn't fit my thoughts it's ok.

message 333: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (last edited Apr 25, 2013 06:58PM) (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments I'm not sure I agree 100%.

I mean, I agree that it is the work of the author and they have the control. But I'm not sure that I think that they always do what they believe/think/imagine is best/most fulfilling/true outcome.

Sometimes I think that it becomes about making money, or getting that next book out quicker to capitalize on movies sales... which I guess is still about money.

I'm just not sure I believe that all authors are that noble and won't sell out their own work. Evanovich is a great example. She's still cranking out Stephanie Plums because it's her money series. She's pretty much come out and said she sees what works and why mess with what's paying her bills.

Singers do the same thing. Crank out albums fast to keep up with the fan frenzy and each album gets a little worse because there's less heart in it.

I'm not saying Harris did that, maybe this is how she saw the ending all along. Though, I will say that her books got progressively worse and more poorly written, and I do believe it is because she was trying to keep up with the True Blood craze.

I'm just saying that I think sometimes authors do sell out their own stories. For me, though, it's not about whether or not she saw it going there, it's more about what Regina said. The literary assassination of my favorite character. I gave up on the Dark Swan series for this exact same issue. She just crossed my personal line, that's all.

message 334: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) In City of Ashes (The Mortal Instruments, #2) by Cassandra Clare now... but this book feels very different from the 1st book. I figured it would be darker - the 2nd in a 3 book arc usually is. Although, yeah, I get that it's longer than a 3 book arc.

Regardless, it just feels... off to me. Guess I have to just push through.

I am *not* jumping into EiT book #3 Dead Sky Morning (Experiment in Terror, #3) by Karina Halle . It was probably my least fav in the series. So I'm not anxious to jump back in.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments Just finished Dark Light (Dark Light, #1) by S.L. Jennings and I think this chick wins every TSTL contest possible. I bet D.G. would have a field day with status updates on that book.

And I couldn't stop reading Doritos every time I read Dorian Skotos.

message 336: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 436 comments I finished Love Irresistibly (FBI / US Attorney, #4) by Julie James and I have mixed feelings about it. All in all I enjoyed it but it eas missing something.

Thank Google I now know what TSTL means. Time for some Doritos to celebrate.

I just started How (not) to Kiss a Toad. It should come with a government warning not to drive after reading this book. It's definitely making me more stupid and to be honest I wasn't high on the ladder to start with, but I'm still kind of liking it.

How (Not) to Kiss a Toad by Elizabeth A. Reeves

Maybe I'm out of touch but this book has a 4+ rating and I just can't see it.

I feel like that with Julie James quite a bit - she is good, but there is something missing - its like eating chocolate when you are hungry - it satisfies briefly, but then you want something more substantial

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Hot Target (Troubleshooters, #8) by Suzanne Brockmann Jules and Robin - just ... damn ...

message 347: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments LOL Tellulah, I loved that book! I really liked the main romance too, but the intro of Jules and Robin together was fabulous. I also liked the previous book (I saw that you did too). I really liked the setting and introducing Dave, Sophie and Decker.

So maybe it is the book and not the reader. I find myself (don't laugh Wendy and Leea!) at 25% in at Gameboard of the Gods (Age of X, #1) by Richelle Mead I am taking a break and reading Sing My Name by Ellen O'Connell with Angie! I am loving it! I also think it is really funny that when I search for Sing My Name on GR -- the other book that pops up is Sing with Me My Name is Ernie (Little Golden Book) by Tish Rabe
