Leea | 1437 comments When did we all decide to read Covet? I can't remember lol.

Kay, let me double check try arc's before we start. Should be home in a couple of hours.

message 2806: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Ok, Leea...let me know.

Not sure when we decided about Covet. It was pushed out a couple of times...probably should get to it soon since it will be out next month.

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments The Writer's Coffee House. I'm not even sure what the book was but I've only requested one book in the past week and was approved for it.

Ok. I'm glad you said that Ian, because there have been a few times when I've been approved for a book when I swear I didn't request it. I thought maybe I was just getting old, but I'm hoping it's a netgalley thing.

I've never even heard about that place. Is it like a library and you request a book?

For some reason, I thought we were doing Covet toward the end of the month, but holy crap, it's already the 19th! Are we still doing the Linda Howard book on the 26th?

Oops should be The Writer's Coffee Shop. They're a small publisher but have some quality authors. I read A Thin Dark Line about a year ago which is one of their titles and pretty good.

Domino (aka Meme) (bryghtstarr) | 173 comments starting Texas Tangle (Tangled) by Leah Braemel . wanted to add another title to the menage challenge =D

Leea | 1437 comments I totally have lost my mind with all our buddy reads... I can't keep it straight, so I'm relying on you guys to tell me when to read, what book. LOL!

Kay, sorry it was a crazy night, non stop since 6am... Yes, lets read it. Hope you get this in time :)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments We need a shared google calendar for buddy reads! Lol.

message 2819: by Kay (new)

So, I will shoot to start Covet this Sunday.

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Regina wrote: "We need a shared google calendar for buddy reads! Lol."

Haha...that would be helpful.

message 2821: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Seriously... haha! Not a bad idea. I just can't keep real life and my reading life straight. It's been one of those days.

I finished Texas Redeemed by Isla Bennet and I really enjoyed it! I liked how the relationship between the father and his daughter came about naturally. He didn't push her but let her get to know him.

Now i'm going to read Bound by Night (MoonBound Clan Vampires, #1) by Larissa Ione , love this cover! Can't wait to start this tomorrow, i'm just too tired tonight.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments Finished Shooting Scars (The Artists Trilogy, #2) by Karina Halle and liked it but really only took away the dairy creamer explosion scene.

message 2823: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments LOL -- meaning that is the one you remember? It was good, but not as blow my mind amazing as the first one. I gave it 3.5ish/4 stars.

I just started GhosTV (PsyCop, #6) by Jordan Castillo Price -- and it is so good!

I am trying to write my review for Me Before You by Jojo Moyes and I am just stumped. I enjoyed the book, the characters and cried like crazy but I really really hate (view spoiler)

message 2824: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Regina, about Me Before You...I agree with you about(view spoiler)

message 2825: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Got Shooting Scars (The Artists Trilogy, #2) by Karina Halle last night, but I started a Psycop marathon yesterday... just couldn't resist after the chatter about the series here. I trust your opinions, and seeing how much those of you who've read the series like it, I started in. (See that thread for more.)

Liking that series, but it threw me a bit. And it continues to do that as I read. It's a good, but somewhat uncomfortable feeling. I'm used to knowing or guessing what comes next, and this series sweeps me along so quickly, I don't have much time to think ahead. Sure, I can peg people or things, but it's just... so quick.

BTW, my sister continues to get better each day. She's had several follow-up appointments yesterday and today; all seems to be going well!

message 2826: by Sandra (new)

Sandra | 27 comments Read and liked Stray (Shifters, #1) by Rachel Vincent . I'll read the next one but not now. Some gore scene left me willing for something lighter: Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake (Love By Numbers, #1) by Sarah MacLean

message 2828: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Thanks ladies. :) I'm semi-freaking out because I have a business trip to Costa Rica (I'm leaving on Saturday) and I feel I have like a million things to do!

I've listened to tons of bad PNR recently in the hopes of finding something sexy Wicked Cravings (The Phoenix Pack, #2) by Suzanne Wright . So far no luck!

message 2829: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 436 comments Wicked Cravings was not as good as book 1, IMO.

message 2835: by Ian (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments Has anyone ever read anything by Lauraine Snelling? I saw a book which sounds like I might enjoy it Wake the Dawn: A Novel but it only has one rating (3 Stars) and I noticed listopia has it in lists of Christian fiction.
I don't mind christian themed books but I hate books that moralize.

message 2837: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Ian, I haven't read any Christian fiction. Are there any you would recommend? I've been wanting to try Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers . Have you read that one?

message 2838: by Ian (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments Kay wrote: "Ian, I haven't read any Christian fiction."

Honestly I've only ever stumbled into it accidentally. I think Searock has read some Amish fiction so she's probably a better person to ask.
What I've read has been a little too saccharin sweet...kind of like "I was a skanky ho (although the definition of skanky ho in christian fiction seems to be someone who had a sip of beer at a party)...then Jesus saved me and now I'm Mother Theresa"

The only Christian book I've really enjoyed is called Joshua by J.F. Girzone.

Kay, I've not read Redeeming Love, but I have read her Mark of the Lion series, starting with A Voice in the Wind (Mark of the Lion, #1) by Francine Rivers . I liked that trilogy - it's historical, set in Roman times when being a Christian still meant possibly facing lions in the arena.

message 2842: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Thanks, Lori. I'm adding it to my list. I like the Rome setting.

About Me Before You, I felt like the book was meant to challenge the reader's views on (view spoiler)

The ending worked, I think. Anything else would have left the book unremarkable and common.

I've read that. I liked it but I can't say that it was a favorite.

I think I have a lot of Rivers' books on my desktop, including that Mark of the Lion series. I might try it sometime.

Ian, "nearly 600 pages"...lol! Have you read any of the Outlander series? They're all at least 800-900 pages. But then I'm one of those who loves long books.

message 2847: by Peggyzbooksnmusic (new)

Peggyzbooksnmusic @Lisa, Let ladyhawk and I know when you're ready for Shadow of Night (All Souls Trilogy, #2) by Deborah Harkness although no hurry as I'm still reading Drums of Autumn (Outlander, #4) by Diana Gabaldon on Kindle (4th time and it's becoming my fav in the series this time!) plus I still need to read The Secret Keeper by Kate Morton and write a review since I feel a little guilty that I won it as a give-away here on Goodreads and it's still sitting on my TBR book table! And I'm only about 1/2 through A Discovery of Witches (All Souls Trilogy, #1) by Deborah Harkness

Wish I could read as fast as I did when I was younger!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments Finished The Governess Club Claire (The Governess Club, #1) by Ellie Macdonald and it was so darn adorable. I smiled a lot while reading it. And it was short, so you got right to the good stuff!
