It's handy when you have kids afraid of storms. One night all three slept in our bed when hubs was out of town. I slept at the foot of the bed. : / Full size or queens are great for snuggling, but some people love having their space.

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments I love storms...in my box of anxiety issues that one passed me over for some reason...when you think about it I should probably be more scared of storms than clowns or cockroaches. lol...maybe if there is ever a clown convention near where I live I'll buy myself a king bed.

Anna (Bobs Her Hair) Clowns have a modernized look now. We took the kids to a circis act, and they ( the clowns) have a fit look and exotic clown face, more like a artistic mime. .

One thing I don't get. King size beds. Who wants a bed that big?"

Me... It's cramped in our queen these days when two growing boys want to jump in with us in the morning. lol!

message 2756: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 436 comments I hate clowns. They give me the creeps. I like king size beds because I like the room. If I'm in the mood to cuddle one can always move closer. I like having options. Ha ha!

message 2757: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Can I just say that I love that I can stumble into this thread bleary eyed on a Sat morning and be so entertained? Ian - hilarious about working out the KA positions involving lego. And that all you awesome ladies just run with it, managing to get bring it around to fear of clowns.

Y'all rock. Just saying.

Lisa | 383 comments Ian wrote: "Lisa wrote: "actually like what's in this book I've picked up in So. Calif "

I kind of wonder if book two is all the positions that didn't make it into book one. You know, there's a book three "E..."

OMG - I hadn't noticed there's an expert edition! Thanks for that, Ian :D

When I saw the cover, I was thinking levitation but invisible table, tall bed, counter, car could all work LOL.

We had a full-size bed then graduated to a Cal-King and felt lost "where ARE you...you...you?" so then downsized to a queen. Now hubby snores LOUDLY and am ready for that king. Maybe a regular king instead of that Cal-king - think the regular is wider, right?

Clowns - recycled the clown painting my MIL gave us to put in our daughter's room when she was a baby. It was hung in there for awhile and I don't believe it gave her nightmares but then she was screaming during the Care Bears movie. Fear of cute bears? Oh wait, I think there was a wicked witch in it, maybe. Or it was the bears.

Anna (Bobs Her Hair) I'm reading the following sci-fi romance Close Liaisons (The Krinar Chronicles, #1) by Anna Zaires . Got it as a freebie. It has some good stuff.

message 2760: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 383 comments Oh yeah, sorry, got sidetracked - I'm reading Angels' Flight (Angels' Pawn #0.5, Angels' Judgment #0.2, Angel's Wolf #3.5, Angels' Dance #0.1) by Nalini Singh an anthology of a few pre-series and one #3.5 in Guild Hunter series. After reading book 3, I wanted some of the backstories. And on my ipod, I'm listening to The Dark Horse (Walt Longmire, #5) by Craig Johnson of the Walt Longmire series, which are not romance but western mysteries.

message 2761: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Catching up with comments here - you guys are cracking me up! I have Rock Chick (Rock Chick, #1) by Kristen Ashley , and now I have to read it just to see if I can figure out the positions in the sex scenes!

My sister is doing better than expected. We took her from the Rehab facility home yesterday. They really couldn't do anything for her that we couldn't do as well at home. She's got her balance; her legs are strong; she can walk and feed herself. Her mind seems to be just fine, altho the pain meds definitely affect her. (She thought her hand was a burrito in one dream.) She still looks really rough, but she's strong and has a great spirit and even better attitude.

Trying to catch up on reading. Not sure how long that'll take, 'cuz now I have a backlog! And I missed several hard copy books that I put on hold, but oh well!

message 2762: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 436 comments I am so happy to hear your sis is making a speedy recovery. Pain mess can really make your mind trip. I'm glad that's her only major problem to deal with. Cuts and bruises will heal but she's got a fighting spirit.

message 2763: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 383 comments That's great news, Lori! She may get better rest now that she's out of the hospital/rehab environment and that may help her heel quicker too. Hopefully.

Domino (aka Meme) (bryghtstarr) | 173 comments started Twice Tempted (Night Prince, #2) by Jeaniene Frost a couple days ago. i'm loving it. the conflict and tension between Vlad and Leila is written really well.

No. The only difference is the Cal-king is longer (for tall people). The width is the same as a regular king. Maybe your hubs can try those Breathe Right strips, eh? Or maybe a humidifier if his snoring is allergy-related.

Anita Anderson | 9 comments I am reading "The song of the Maori" by Sarah Lark, it is about New Zealand and the immigrants from Ireland and England, their life, love and motivations. It is so different from my usual reads, but I am loving it.

message 2767: by Peggyzbooksnmusic (new)

Peggyzbooksnmusic Have been getting caught up on Goodreads as we were on vacation for the past week; up the coast of California: Solvang, Morro Bay and Santa Barbara area.

Oh Lori, I'm so sorry to hear about your sister's terrible accident. From reading your posts am so relieved that she is home and making improvements; plus her children and hubby must be glad to have her home. Does sound like a long recovery road. I hope they put that driver away for a long time.

Am getting a good laugh with the other posts! Oh and we had a King bed in our hotel; we did NOT like it; way too wide! It was very comfy but we prefer our Queen at home!

Didn't read much on vacation so am getting back to

A Discovery of Witches (All Souls Trilogy, #1) by Deborah Harkness thanks to Ladyhawk! Wow! Can't believe it took me this long to finally read this one. I thought it would be too scary because of the vampire but it's really more history and I can't wait to get to Shadow of Night (All Souls Trilogy, #2) by Deborah Harkness I even broke down and bought both for the Kindle!

PS Stacie, thinking about you and your Mom. Must be so difficult. Can relate as hubby and I have elderly parents with health issues and have spent days in the hospital with them.

Lisa, your vacation sounds heavenly: no internet!

Leea | 1437 comments I may have to DNF Rock Chick Revolution, I don't know what the deal is but this one is super choppy and very all over the place. Has something changed or was I just on crazy pills when I read and liked her other books.

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments Peggy Z wrote: "so am getting back to A Discovery of Witches thanks to Ladyhawk! "

I've been putting it off for so long. I hear so many good things about it and then I think 'nearly 600 pages'.... anyway, I've been putting it off for too long so I think I might jump in as well.

It has gotten a little better for me after they went public. I didn't like what KA did about the RC books in the actual book. You were not crazy when you read and liked the other ones. I'm not sure where she's headed with the book maybe she cracked under the pressure.

How's the Gaiman book? Can't wait to get my hands on it.

message 2775: by Angie Elle, BaBAMB!!! (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments I finished Into the Deep (Into the Deep, #1) by Samantha Young , and I'm going to start Afterburn by Sylvia Day .

I'm also going to try and make it through another chapter of Rock Hard (Sinners on Tour, #2) by Olivia Cunning . I'm having a tough time with this one.

message 2776: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Tellulah, it is good. It is told from the third person, so it has a very detached story telling style. I am more of an observer. It is interesting, b/c the main character is going to places that I know well but are never in stories, -- small towns in Indiana, Illinois and Wisconsin. I am not sure what the point it yet, but it is a good story to follow along with. This is my first Gaiman.

message 2777: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) If you want to read more of his, I'd suggest Neverwhere. It's one of my fav books ever.

I've been meaning to try Gaiman for a while. I feel like he's one of those authors who is a no-brainer for who you should try before you die. I really don't know why I've been so intimidated.

Finished Disney after Dark (Kingdom Keepers, #1) by Ridley Pearson and it was so-so. I was hoping for it to be more fun than it was.

Trying to decide now whether to start The Governess Club Claire (The Governess Club, #1) by Ellie Macdonald or Crown of Midnight (Throne of Glass, #2) by Sarah J. Maas

message 2779: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) I like Neil Gaiman, but he can also be an acquired taste. I've really been into his Sandman graphic novels and American Gods by Neil Gaiman . I wasn't so into Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman , but it was good.

Reading [bookcover:Taming A Highland Bride] - took a dip back into the Highlander world to re-start my reading.

Did you see Karina Halle's FB post about the Dream Contest? If you change your FB pic to one of her Shooting Scars pics, you can be entered into the contest. If you win, she'll write you into a scene with any of her characters/stories that you want! I'd love to be in a Dex & Perry story... thinking it over. Contest ends Aug 21.

message 2780: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 383 comments I've read Gaiman's Stardust by Neil Gaiman and really liked it. It has a Princess Bride feel to it - fairy tale-like. And I've listened to his American Gods which I also liked.

Hey Peggy - good to see you're back. Sounds like a wonderful vacation :D I'm close to be ready to reread A Discovery of Witches (All Souls Trilogy, #1) by Deborah Harkness so I can remember it before rereading the book following it with you and Ladyhawk.

message 2781: by Regina (new)

message 2788: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Yeah, I need to catch up on my Psycop books to catch up to you guys.

I'm reading Texas Redeemed by Isla Bennet and i'm really enjoying it. I really am enjoying how the story is unfolding and how the father is getting to know his daughter and slowly get back into his old flames life. It's just written is such an organic way. Highs and lows...

I finally had to DNF Rock Chick Revolution (Rock Chick, #8) by Kristen Ashley - it was SOOO bad.

message 2789: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 436 comments I'm still reading RC8 and it's not so bad. I love Ren too much to quit. Ha ha!

message 2790: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments Regina and I are going to be reading it on the 30th (Spook Squad)!

We can chat about it in the PsyCop thread and anyone who wants to join in can, the more the merrier I say! I've been waiting SOOOOO long for this book!

message 2791: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 436 comments I finished Rock Chick Revolution (Rock Chick, #8) by Kristen Ashley . This is the second book in a row for me that has been a disappointment. KA was off the rails on this one. Ren, however, is my favorite Hot Bunch badass.

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments I finished a couple of books over the weekend.... The Perfect Rake (The Merridew Sisters, #1) by Anne Gracie and A Risk Worth Taking A Red River Series Book by Victoria James .

Not sure what to read next. I got approved by Edelweiss to read Bound by Night (MoonBound Clan Vampires, #1) by Larissa Ione . Has anyone read it yet? I didn't really care for her Lords of Deliverance series but loved Demonica.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments I have that Kay but probably won't get to it until next month.

message 2794: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Stacia, I was just thinking of you. Did you see that Abel (5th Street #4) by Elizabeth Reyes is out now? Do you have time to read this together? Since we read the first 3 together just thought we can keep it rolling...

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments I didn't know! Can you read it later in the week? I have a couple books in-progress to get through, but I'd love to read it.

message 2796: by Kay (last edited Aug 19, 2013 12:08PM) (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Yes, let me know what day you want to start. I don't have anything major to read this week. My son's 2nd bday party is on Saturday so I've been busy planning that but would love to try and squeeze in Abel.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments It's up to you. If you want to focus on your party, we can wait until Monday. If you want to try this week, I could do Thursday.

message 2798: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Okay, let's do Thursday. Her books are fast reads anyway. Looking forward to reading about Abel...another book about a older woman and younger man ;)

message 2799: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Hi ladies - I'm back from vacation. We had a blast in Amsterdam/Bruges. I didn't read much there but have been reading pretty much non stop since I came back. That's why I've had problems adapting to the change in time zone! (I wasn't as strict as I should have been on that first day.)

Just this week I've read the whole Tales of the Underlight trilogy How Beauty Met the Beast (Tales of the Underlight, #1) by Jax Garren which had good characters but a weak plot. I really liked some parts though.

Now I'm reading The Exiled Queen (Seven Realms, #2) by Cinda Williams Chima and listening to Unleashed (The Amoveo Legend #1) by Sara Humphreys a really bad PNR. So far, it had nothing going for it!

message 2800: by Tellulah (new)
