Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I have thought about reading it many times -- or doing the audio. Not sure what is holding me back. For me zombies need to be the enemy, lol -- it is hard for me to accept a zombie as the main character.

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments Regina wrote: "I have thought about reading it many times -- or doing the audio."

Oh you really should do the audio! It's the only way I can get the books over here in Au. The first two are great fun...I mean laughing out loud funny. And the narrator has a voice I want to drown in.

Lisa | 383 comments Wendy F wrote: "No, not yet. I've only read the first book so far. Did you read it?"

Yes, and felt the same way as Ian about it. I loved the first 2 of the series and the audio is great! The narrator has the cutest southern accent and it almost sounds like she has gum in her mouth, not smacking it though, which fits right in with the "white trash" angle. I love the fresh angle on zombieism and the humor is perfect. For some reason book #3 was just not up to par and I thought maybe it was me, as if I was still affected by the book I had just finished (couldn't remember which one it was, but you know how sometimes that happens). Now I see Ian felt similar so I guess it wasn't me. I still look forward to the next book though and I want to try Rowland's other series Mark of the Demon (Kara Gillian, #1) by Diana Rowland . Has anybody read it yet?

message 2704: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments Hmmm, well that makes me nervous because the first book was only just a little more than ok.

message 2705: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 383 comments Oh, guess I probably liked it more than you did, so there's a good chance you might not like book 3? Borrow it? Have you listened to the Zombie Fallout series? Zombie Fallout (Zombie Fallout, #1) by Mark Tufo Another zombie series that I love that has your standard zombies - assorted types (slow, speeders, smart), great humor, high gross-out factor - a story of a family surviving the zombie fallout.

message 2706: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 436 comments Starting Rock Chick Revolution (Rock Chick, #8) by Kristen Ashley tonight. I am really worried after reading everyone's posts about their unhappiness with the book.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments Wendy, have you read Rhiannon Frater's other zombie book? The Last Bastion of the Living A Futuristic Zombie Novel by Rhiannon Frater I don't know if it's any good but just throwing that out there, since you liked The First Days.

Just finished FrankenDom by Robin L. Rotham and it was...ugh. I wanted to read a book which had sounding in it. I should have known better.

Working on Disney after Dark (Kingdom Keepers, #1) by Ridley Pearson which is the exact opposite type of book. It's cute so far.

Marcella (marcella6) | 436 comments As I'm reading the 8th Rock Chick book I realize I'm already annoyed with it after reading just the Prologue. I think I'm in trouble.

message 2709: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments 14% into the rock chick #8 book & I'm skimming all the useless details. Lol.

message 2710: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 436 comments This book just solidifies for me that I really can't stand Allie. She is definitely my least favorite Rock Chick. I am only continuing this book to read about Ren. I am kind of in love with him...just a little. Ha ha!

Anna (Bobs Her Hair) Leea wrote: "14% into the rock chick #8 book & I'm skimming all the useless details. Lol."

lol .. If it wasn't for useless details and epilogues KA books would be pamphlets.

She's with a Big Pub now, so shouldn't this not be happenining? Is she still describing outfits, gardens, and home decor in detail?

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments I think she's only doing big pub for the Chaos series? Her other stuff might still be self pub.

Oh dear lord. I'll never forget the convo Ian and I had over At Peace. There was a lot of home decor going on.

I skimmed through that part. It kept going on and on and on.

That part where all the women were sitting around chatting was torture. It was like the worst cut scenes ever all played in slow motion.

message 2717: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Ian that is freaking hilarious. Pamphlets!! But to be fair I have only attempted to read one book by her - I got about 25% and for that 25% I liked the writing style. I quit because I hated how she wrote the male character.

message 2718: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Marcella did you read the epilogue first?

message 2719: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments I haven't read that book, Stacia... Hey Regina, is that one a standalone, do you know?

message 2720: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments It is a standalone. It is good but not as good as her other books. I love the characters and the world frater creates. And this book I loved too for that. Her writing is less strong than other authors though - I didn't notice that as much with her other books as I did this book. But I still did enjoy it.

message 2721: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments There were moments when I noticed that in the other series, but it didn't take away from my enjoyment (much).

Thanks!

Ha! And sex scenes. Of which there are so many in this latest Rock Chick, all I could think was "Not tonight dear, I have a headache." Their stamina exhausted me. :)

message 2723: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Finished Lord of Wicked Intentions (The Lost Lords of Pembrook, #3) by Lorraine Heath which I enjoyed. No surprise here b/c I seem to enjoy all of Lorraine Heath's novels.

I also finished the audio to On Dublin Street (On Dublin Street, #1) by Samantha Young . I had mixed feelings about this book. The male came off a little too alpha for me but I can see why many people enjoyed this.

message 2724: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 436 comments Regina wrote: "Marcella did you read the epilogue first?"

Yes I read the Epilogue and I really had the urge to punch Allie in the face. I never connected with her but plan to continue only because of Ren.

message 2725: by Ian (last edited Aug 16, 2013 02:40PM) (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments Tellulah wrote: "Ha! And sex scenes."

Have you ever been reading a KA sex scene and then stopped...gone back and tried to work out what they're actually doing? I have and let me say, the only way to work it out is line by line and even then you need a bucket of lego, a sharpie marker and a ball of string.

message 2726: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 436 comments Very well said Ian. I thought I was the only one having a hard time wrapping my head around KA's sex scenes. (On a side note, I just realized I have a few puns in this post). Ha ha!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments I remember Michele telling us once that her and some friends actually tried to figure out one of the positions for a sex scene of KA's (they tried to get into the position) and couldn't do it.

message 2728: by Ian (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments Marcella wrote: "actually I just realized I have a few puns in this post. Ha ha!"

I was going to say "flow chart" as well but thought better of it.

message 2729: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Lmao! Now I want to read one of her sex scenes.

message 2730: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 436 comments That would have been hilarious Ian. Missed opportunity.

Marcella (marcella6) | 436 comments Regina wrote: "Lmao! Now I want to read one of her sex scenes."

She needs to include sketches because they are bizarre.

message 2732: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 383 comments These comments have been cracking me up. Sketches like what's in this book I've picked up in So. Calif which kinda remind me of those chalk-lined dead people (like on CSI) outlines doing it. Position of the Day Playbook Sex Every Day in Every Way by Nerve.com

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments Lisa wrote: "actually like what's in this book I've picked up in So. Calif "

I kind of wonder if book two is all the positions that didn't make it into book one. You know, there's a book three "Expert Edition" available? lol

Leea | 1437 comments Tellulah wrote: "Ian wrote: "Ha! And sex scenes. Of which there are so many in this latest Rock Chick, all I could think was "Not tonight dear, I have a headache." Their stamina exhausted me. :) ..."

Right now it's more fade to black in a way. I do want Ally's stamina...

message 2735: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments You guys are cracking me up... Oh that book cover, the position on the front. I'd be worried my husband would drop me on my head.

message 2736: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Lmao.

message 2737: by Ian (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments Leea wrote: "the position on the front. I'd be worried my husband would drop me on my head."

I was thinking I could do my back in trying that....but then I thought, if she was resting on a suitably padded table, it could work.

message 2738: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Great minds -- I was thinking a bed. :)

message 2739: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 436 comments I think for that position to work, realistically the man would need to have the woman on a table unless he was extremely muscled and the woman waif thin.

message 2740: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 436 comments Regina wrote: "Great minds -- I was thinking a bed. :)"

Or a desk...or a dining room table. Just saying.

message 2741: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Bed people! A bed will work two! A very high bed. lol. And much comfier.

message 2742: by Regina (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments Regina wrote: "Or the hood of the car .."

I've done that...1974 Chrysler with a quilt spread over the hood. I have to say I don't think she enjoyed it much although that could also have had something to do with my lack of experience.

message 2745: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments LOL. So much like a guy to remember the make and model. :) At least you supplied a blanket!

message 2746: by Ian (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments Regina wrote: "LOL. So much like a guy to remember the make and model. :) At least you supplied a blanket!"

Hey! I remember her too! It was either Claire or Stephanie...maybe Anna. Only joking, it was definitely Stephanie....I think.

message 2747: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Ha -- I thought that would be the next comment. :D

But seriously back to business .... a bed and that is all I am saying.

I hate when my husband picks me up. He loves to but, then I am so worried about him dropping me or me hurting him, spoils the fun.

message 2748: by Ian (last edited Aug 16, 2013 05:07PM) (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments Regina wrote: "a bed and that is all I am saying."

One thing I don't get. King size beds. Who wants a bed that big?

message 2749: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Me! I have a king and love it. Love it. Even when I travel alone for work I ask for a king.

I have heard that theory before, but that is not what I have found happens in a king.

message 2750: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments I have a king size too, and love it! (Then again, most nights my 9 year old sneaks in with us, because I'm a pushover, so plenty of room)
