I loved these books. Maybe I am in the minority on that one.

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I guess you are liking that series!

message 2604: by Angie Elle, BaBAMB!!! (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments The first two were pretty good reads. I have to give it to Maya Banks. This isn't my thing, but she does a good job. I do love Burn so far! :)

I can do Covet later in the month.

My mom is holding her own but nothing's really changing. She's still in the hospital. At least she's not getting worse, I guess.

Me Before You really gets you thinking about your views on certain issues, which was unexpected.

message 2606: by Angie Elle, BaBAMB!!! (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments I had to move Covet to the 24th. I have so much catching up to do.

I have the arc of The Girl You Left Behind by Jojo Moyes I need to read. I don't want anything sad.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments I don't recall Girl You Left Behind as being sad, but I read it almost a year ago, so I might be forgetting something.

We are doing the Linda Howard on the 26th, so I'd need to space out Covet away from that by a few days.

Just finished Gravity (The Taking, #1) by Melissa West and it was a fun read but I was disappointed that the space/alien side wasn't more expanded upon. It read closer to pnr than sci-fi for the first half, then we got all the sci-fi stuff dumped on us in the second half. But the romance was cute and I like how it's set up for book 2, so I'm looking forward to reading it.

message 2610: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I would prefer to do Covet early September anyway or late August?, given the release date. I bet it is a quick read.

I am guessing lack of change as to anything is hard and frustrating.

I am so enmeshed and stressed by Where'd You Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple it is funny and the satire is funny -- but I am really stressed as to what is going to happen and what has happened! I fell asleep listening to it last night. The audio is really fantastic.

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Regina wrote: "I am in no rush for Magic Rises, so whenever. Thank you!!

Lori I agree with you about the Night Huntress World books. Although that shower scene was hot!

Tellulah, I am enjoying Where'd You Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple, Regina! I love that book so much. Yes, I remember feeling much the same way. Can't wait to hear how you feel about the ending.

message 2612: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Read some absolute crap m/m book which I've forgotten the title of. What got me was that it actually set up an interesting world but that became really secondary to the sex sex and more sex. I found myself desperately wishing for plot at many points. Also, it was very confusing. I often found myself going back to reread passages to understand where they were or what they were doing. And this was pubbed by a fairly large house.

Hopefully, Midnight Frost (Mythos Academy, #5) by Jennifer Estep will make me happy.

Finished Magic Rises (Kate Daniels, #6) by Ilona Andrews and LOVED it!! *sigh* Curran/Kate - they're just a fantastic team/couple - love they way they spar and love and their timing. I can gush all day. And ready to jump back in and read it all over again LOL.

I also felt much the same way as you, Regina, about Where'd You Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple . It made me LOL so many times and at times kept me at the edge, wanting to punch somebody, like a gnat. The audio is the best!

Now I've started Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn for a group read. Also, a bit of a palette cleanser with a genre change.

message 2614: by Angie Elle, BaBAMB!!! (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments I am reading Charade (Games, #1) by Nyrae Dawn , and I love it so far!

Sandra | 27 comments I feel like starting series so I plan to read Magic Bites (Kate Daniels, #1) by Ilona Andrews as soon as I finish A Fall of Water.

message 2616: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments LOL -- a gnat Lisa. :-)

I was only lukewarm on Gone Girl -- check out my review when you are done and let me know what you think.

I loved Gillian Flynn's earlier book Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn

message 2623: by Angie Elle, BaBAMB!!! (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments I finished Charade (Games, #1) by Nyrae Dawn yesterday, and I'm reading Facade (Games, #2) by Nyrae Dawn , the next one in the series, now. I love these books.

I love finding a new to me author that has a back list!

message 2624: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) So glad to see much love for both Kate/Curran and Where'd You Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple . Love gushing about all those books with people.

Read Midnight Frost (Mythos Academy, #5) by Jennifer Estep and I liked it just not as much as I've loved the rest of the series. I felt like it was biding time to the showdown. A bit obvious with the reveals and also, wanted more Logan.

Leea | 1437 comments I'm a quarter of the way into Hero and Gunmetal Magic, i'm enjoying both... It was my husbands birthday today so I haven't had much luck reading. Now it seems i'm coming down with something. I don't feel so good.

message 2626: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Hope everyone had a nice weekend. Mine was extremely busy and I barely had to time sneak much reading in.

message 2628: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Hey all... I'm going to be sporadic again with posting here and reviews.

My sister was hit by a drunk driver early Sat morning (6a). No skid marks - he ran a red light that had been red for a long time. Her injuries were considered life-threatening at the scene, and she's been in Trauma ICU. She had her seat belt on, but her Dodge Caravan mini-van was hit so hard just behind the driver's seat, that it tipped on its side and was dragged and spun for aways. She was partially ejected through the passenger's side when witnesses got to her. EMTs had to cut open the van to get her out.

She's already had some reconstructive facial and arm surgery by plastic surgeons and a surgery to put a pin in the pinkie finger of her other hand. Her left side is more banged up than the right.

Around 10p PT, she was moved to a regular hospital room. But it makes me a little nervous, because she hasn't even been out of bed yet, and she's still really in-and-out with the meds and the pain.

BTW, Felony DUI with a distinction for causing severe injuries - the drunk driver, who walked away with only minor injuries (of course), is in jail.

SO... right now, I have my middle niece (17) and my youngest niece (8). It's been a long couple of days - being awakened by my BIL just after 6a when he tells me my sister's been in a really bad car accident and please come to the scene right now... not the way to start any day, and certainly one of my hardest mornings.

Trying to read, as I can 'cuz I know it helps me. But those of you with kids know how challenging that can be! Plus, spending time at the hospital means my Kindle Fire HD is being used to occupy my youngest niece to play games and take her mind off of what's going on and how she can't see her mom yet.

Thanks for letting me vent a little here.

message 2629: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Lori oh my god!!! I am so angry for you and her family. I wish I could say something worthwhile. Will she walk and look the same when she gets past this stage? Are you and she both missing work? You are an angel to be there. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I hope you are able to somewhat take care of yourself. It may be worth it to buy another kindle to get you through this.

Sounds like you need a lawyer or her husband does. Definitely shop around and get references. I have more comments about that I can message you when you are ready.

Leea | 1437 comments I'm still reading Gunmetal Magic by Ilona Andrews , half way thru and I have to say I love the Andrea and Raphael moments the best. Plus Andrea is just a kick ass girl! So fun!

I'm really enjoying The Hero (Thunder Point, #3) by Robyn Carr , it's a lot better than the last two. Although, I agree that this storyline is recycled from her Virgin River Series, but I still love how she writes small town characters. Having been to and driven past the Brannon area, I can just picture Thunder Point in my head. Love it!
