Some things just stick more for some people than others. My husband makes fun of me b/c I tend to remember all the little useless things in our life while he remembers all the major things that seem to forget! Hahah. I guess, my mind just remembers what it chooses to remember.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments I'm needing some help.

There was a book on the GR ad area a few days ago with an Arabian Nights theme/retelling. I thought I'd added it to my TBR because I was interested but I didn't and can't find it now.

I have adblock on my computer, so I'd seen it on my Nook most likely. I think it's a red/brown cover.

If anyone can help me figure this out, I'd appreciate it.

message 1803: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Stacia, is it a newer released book or old?

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments I think it's new. The ad was recent and it was with all of the other new release ads on the right side of the screen.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Vasic!

I'm in reading limbo. Something naughty Havoc, UF/PNRA Blood Seduction or steamy contemporary Star Crossed or a historical romance...?

Any suggestions?

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments Star Crossed was actually kind of cute. Not a lot annoyed me, which is rare for me and contemps.

Although a fluffy historical could be fun too.

Fluffy historicals? I did like Julia Quinn's Bridgertons. That's as fluffy as I get. I wish Joanna Bourne had something new. Hmph. I have reviews to write. (Procrastinating).

I'm reading Meljean Brook's novella Tethered (Iron Seas, #2.5) by Meljean Brook

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments No Kleypas? That makes me sad. I'm such a fan of her wit.

That is my one problem with this book. As much as I love Kaleb and Sahara I missed the light heartedness of the changelings.

Anna (Bobs Her Hair) Stacia ~ Vixen of Variety wrote: "No Kleypas? That makes me sad. I'm such a fan of her wit."

I like Kleypas. Lord Marcus Westcliff is my man! lol I guess I can dig around her old stuff and see if there's anything I missed.

There's over 100 books on my shelf, Kindle, and NOOK. Just not feeling overly interested in stuff I have, not that I've browsed through my piles recently. :(

I'll enjoy Riveted. MJ gives me the happy happy joy joys with her Iron Sea series. Good stuff. :o)

D.G. I'm reading The Dr Pepper Prophecies by Jennifer Gilby Roberts and enjoying it a lot. Although I wonder how heavy she is...she eats so much sugar!

Phoenix can top 106F. Saturday, we hit 119 F. It's cooled down to 112. By next Sat, the weather is supposed to get down to 108. : /

Jen (at last!) (jenkeith) | 222 comments I'm reading A Royal Pain (Her Royal Spyness Mysteries, #2) by Rhys Bowen . I loved the first book. It was so much fun and cute.

I think I'm going to read Untouched (Beachwood Bay, #0.5) by Melody Grace next since I got the snippet from Amazon and it hooked me.

message 1817: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Jenn, I love the Her Royal Spyness books!

Started Tangled

message 1820: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Oooh, Deb - I liked "Tangled". It was fun to have an honest guy's POV. (A little more uptown from Dex of Dex & Perry.)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments Tangled is on my list for the month. It looks fun.

Btw, I found the book I was looking for. It was One Thousand and One Nights A Retelling by Hanan Al-Shaykh

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Hi everyone, I have been busy with work and then I was camping and away from internet. I am finishing up Come Alive (Experiment in Terror, #7) by Karina Halle and it is just okay. Not as well done or well written as her previous books IMO.

I am listening to Angelfall (Penryn & the End of Days, #1) by Susan Ee and I love it all over again. The audio is great and I actually forgot a lot of the story. I was worried it would be less fantastic the 2nd time around, but it is even better.

I should be officially starting The Piper's Son by Melina Marchetta tonight as soon as I finish Come Alive.

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments I started If I Were You (Inside Out, #1) by Lisa Renee Jones last night.

message 1825: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments I finished reading Sealed with a Kiss (Diary of a Crush, #3) by Sarra Manning Kiss and Make Up (Diary of a Crush, #2) by Sarra Manning Diary of a Grace (Diary of a Crush) by Sarra Manning ...this was a fun British YA.

Now reading a book I got from Netgalley... Love Overdue by Pamela Morsi .

Anna (Bobs Her Hair) @Domino...It's hellish hot! Our swimming pool feels like bath water.

@Regina...I didn't realize Angelfall was in audio version. Book 2 is supposed to release this November...Finally!!!

@Deb...Tangled has loads of rave reviews. Must get to it soon. Enjoy!

@Stacia...Yay! You found your book!

I'm reading Tethered and enjoying Archimedes Fox. Love the letters between Him and his sister. I hope she gets a book. Meljean Brooks Guardian series did not work for me, but I adore her Iron Seas series!

message 1827: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I think I'll have to do a re-read in audio of Angelfall before the next book comes out.

message 1828: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 383 comments I finished The Devil's Metal (Devils, #1) by Karina Halle last night - really liked it even though some of the 70s language wasn't right and there were a few other goofs but the story was great and made up for the boo-boos. It got me in the mood to read a book that's been sitting on my shelf for a year or so When Giants Walked the Earth A Biography of Led Zeppelin by Mick Wall which I've started (Led-head here, married to a Deadhead).

Once it reaches over 100 it is time to move. Eff the heat! I do not like the heat, and it does not like me. I was miserable and it just reached upper 90s.

message 1830: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Phoenix... Vegas... yep, I think we're in for major heat this July/August. We've had fairly low summer heat temps the past few years; I expect this summer to have a lot of record heat breaking temps. It's been 115+ in Vegas, and looks to stay that way for awhile.

message 1831: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 436 comments You ladies are crazy. I can't tolerate heat like that at all. I get nauseous and horrible migraines from the heat.

Anna (Bobs Her Hair) Thank goodness for the marvelous invention called the air conditioner! lol

message 1833: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 436 comments I prefer fresh air but when it gets this hot, bring on the AC!

message 1834: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I don't like when it's over 90s either. Can't stand it. But I'm not very good with really cold weather either.

I've been living in NY for almost 15 years and I'm still not used to the weather - too hot in summer, too cold in winter. My husband says it's because I grew up in weather that it was pretty much the same all year round so I can't take the variation.

message 1835: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 436 comments I prefer the cold over the heat. I have lived in Southern California for most of my life and can't imagine living anywhere else.

message 1836: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 159 comments Finished reading Slave to Sensation (Psy-Changeling, #1) by Nalini Singh which I found to be just ok for me. I really liked Hawke though, so maybe I'll just read the book about him, though I won't continue the series.

I'm going to start reading Catch a Mate by Gena Showalter .

message 1837: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I am actually reading Starglass by Phoebe North instead of he Piper's Son.

message 1838: by D.G. (last edited Jul 02, 2013 05:50PM) (new)

D.G. Courtney wrote: "I really liked Hawke though, so maybe I'll just read the book about him, though I won't continue the series."

If you didn't like it, I'll recommend you don't read any more books. Hawke's book is #10 so you will be really lost if you jump that many books, specially because there a like a million characters in the book with lots of background (including a big secondary romance.) This is one of those series that really needs to be read in order because the world is very intricate and builds over each book.

I guess you could read the romance parts but then him being the Alpha means he's involved in a lot of the politics and as you can see from our discussions about the world, even us faithful readers are not 100% on the details. :)

message 1839: by Courtney (last edited Jul 02, 2013 06:16PM) (new)

Courtney | 159 comments D.G. - That's why I really don't like series and try not to get into them, especially if they're about different people. And I'll follow your recommendation then since I didn't particularly like how the PsyNet was explained. Thanks for the heads up.

message 1840: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I hear you, Courtney. That's one of the reasons I didn't continue reading the In Death series. I didn't like it enough to read 30+ books.

message 1841: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments I finished Come Alive (Experiment in Terror, #7) by Karina Halle The ending made up for a lot of the faults with having an only Dex POV.

I'm going to read To Sin with a Viking (Forbidden Vikings, #1) by Michelle Willingham next. I hear it's good - Thanks for the Rec. Stacia.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments I hope you like it Leea!

Finished Grave Mercy (His Fair Assassin, #1) by R.L. LaFevers the other night and liked it but didn't love it. The start and finish were great but the middle dragged. Although, I loved the male lead Duval and devoured the assassination scenes. I hear book 2 blows book 1 out of the water though, so I'm looking forward to it.

Finished My Stone Lover by Ophelia Cox and it was so much fun! It's a fast little read (maybe a half hour) and far less taboo than you're expecting. I think it's almost like a grown-up Beauty and the Beast with the way the story progresses. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a short and super-steamy read.

Lexi ♥♥Kitty Noir♥♥ I just started Red Fox (Experiment in Terror, #2) by Karina Halle . I'm already addicted to this series. It was a rec from a friend, otherwise I don't think I would have looked twice at this series :)

message 1844: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Ohh, I love me some Dex & Perry. Enjoy the journey Lexi!

Stacia, I already read 1/4 of the book. So far so good.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments Yay!

Regina, I ended up watching episode 1 of Tipping the Velvet online last night and it's pretty close to the book so far. I'll probably watch episode 2 tonight. I really like who they chose for Nan.

message 1846: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I had no idea this was on tv! What network? So cool. I wonder if I can get the first episode.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments It was a BBC production a few years back but I watched it online, since neither Netflix or Amazon Prime had it for streaming.

If you want to know more go ahead and inbox me, so I don't step over a line with group discussion.

message 1848: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Had to have a palate cleanser after all the steamy contemp romances I was reading...

If I haven't raved about Finding Colin Firth by Mia March yet - WOW! And if I did, please forgive the repeat. I haven't given a proper review to this book yet, but it's got some of everything in it. Except steam - it's implied, a bit, but not obvious.

Just finished Ravished by a Highlander (Children of the Mist, #1) by Paula Quinn by Paula Quinn - it's been on my TBR shelf forever! It was good, but not outstanding. I think the plot points went beyond my suspension of disbelief, because this novel's not historically accurate in many ways other than James VII/James II and his enemies. 1. The MacGregor clan never had land on the Isle of Skye (that I can find). 2. The MacGregor clan was, I believe, still not in favor with the king at this time. (But I could be wrong.) 3. The idea that James had another daughter that he'd sent away to an Abbey... well, that's not as far-fetched as it might sound, but still strains belief.

Probably diving into another Highland romance and trying to get through a few Netgalley books that I've been approved for. Taking advantage of some time to myself to read.

message 1849: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Lori, it's been on my TBR list for a long time also.

I'm still reading To Sin with a Viking (Forbidden Vikings, #1) by Michelle Willingham and it's really good but I have a feeling that all this foreplay is just going to drive me crazy - with wanting them to be together.

message 1850: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 383 comments I'm still reading When Giants Walked the Earth A Biography of Led Zeppelin by Mick Wall which had a slow boring beginning that I skimmed. It started getting good once the band was formed and did their first U.S. tour in '68. Some parts of each band member's early daze is interesting but there was more info, like what each album they collected EVER and who inspired them. Some of that is interesting but my eyes glazed over after awhile and well, dozed. But it's getting good now.

On my ipod, I'm listening to book #2 Zombie Fallout 2 A Plague Upon Your Family (Zombie Fallout, #2) by Mark Tufo of the Zombie Fallout series. Love the humor! And the family fighting zombies angle.
