I cannot wait to read it. It's been so hot here so we've been hangin' at the pool most days. Stay cool Kay! It's going to be so hot this weekend.

Lisa | 383 comments Hope you have a fun, relaxing weekend, Regina :D

I just finished World War Z An Oral History of the Zombie War by Max Brooks and glad I kept with it. I almost didn't and it was funny - as I kept reading the star rating kept going up LOL! It just got better and better. AND, little ol' Wenatchee, Wash. was in there! Blew me away. That's our "big city" (but it's not really big) where we do most of our errands and shopping, medical, etc. But for major stuff, we have to go either to Seattle or Spokane. Anyway, for a zombie book, it was pretty darn good. For serious horror. Otherwise, I like my zombie books with some humor mixed in with the horror.

And I finished Hunted (The Iron Druid Chronicles, #6) by Kevin Hearne and loved it! It even brought out some tears.

Now I'm starting Jacob (Nightwalkers, #1) by Jacquelyn Frank as a group read (a library loan) and The Devil's Metal (Devils, #1) by Karina Halle on audio to listen to this weekend during yard work.

message 1754: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Can't wait to hear how you like Devils Metal... I love Halle's writing.

message 1755: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments I can't wait to read Hunted! I'm going to read that after Come Alive.

message 1756: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Thanks! Who is reading Devil's metal?! I have that and want to read it. I liked the beginning of Come Alive but the Dex pov is getting old. I want Perry back.

Leea did you read On Every Street (The Artists Trilogy, #0.5) by Karina Halle ?

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments Devil's Metal is a different vibe from her other writing. It's sort of like the movie Almost Famous.

Wasn't Hunted great? Really liked that book.

Started Beauty Queens by Libba Bray

Not yet... but I need to. I can't wait to read more about Ellie.

message 1760: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 383 comments Whoever said "Dex is such a guy!" is SO right! LOL! OH, that just reminded me of a convo between Oberon and Atticus!! Won't say anything more. You have to hurry and read it, Wendy! Just a little teaser :D

Yep, I haven't officially started Devil's Metal (weird, the 'add book/author' isn't working right now)yet but plan to tonight. It's queued up and ready. Waiting.

What are you planning to take to read, Regina? Anything?

message 1761: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments Next week sometime. Reading Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell , then Come Alive (Experiment in Terror, #7) by Karina Halle . After that, I'm all over Atticus... at least in my fantasies.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments I love the cover model for Atticus. He's so pretty.

yeah Kay, the language is distracting. plus i'm not really getting what the story is about. i know Chess is like which or something that sends ghosts back to "their home", but then she has this drug problem and is in deep with a drug dealer. i'm just trying to figure out story line. i'm going to give it more time and hopefully some things'll be cleared up for me =D

message 1768: by D.G. (last edited Jun 29, 2013 07:26AM) (new)

D.G. Finished The Bitter Kingdom (Fire and Thorns, #3) by Rae Carson and it was AMAZING! The best of the trilogy!

Isn't it awesome when a trilogy goes from good to best instead of the other way around? It's so disappointing when you read a great book and have the sequels turn out mediocre to downright horrible (I'm looking at you Delirium.)

I'm also listening to The Mirror Crack'd from Side to Side (Miss Marple, #9) by Agatha Christie , as part of my Agatha Christie series re-read (although I haven't read this one) but if the bingo shelf fits Hunted (The Iron Druid Chronicles, #6) by Kevin Hearne , I'll stop "Mirror" and listen to that next.

The first one was a bit confusing to me too, but once you get through the beginning and the first book it gets amazing.

message 1772: by Ian (last edited Jun 29, 2013 03:03PM) (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments I really loved Eleanor & Park. I'm kind of glad it's rating high because it doesn't quite fit neatly into a genre type and I wondered if it would find a market. I guess good writing rises to the top.

I'm reading The Dr Pepper Prophecies at the moment. Very much a British cute and quirky chick lit novel. It's an independent so there are a few editing issues but I'm liking it a lot.
And The Raven Prince which I was chastised for removing from my TBR.

The Dr Pepper Prophecies by Jennifer Gilby Roberts The Raven Prince (Princes Trilogy, #1) by Elizabeth Hoyt

ooh Ian, i love The Raven Prince. i wasn't so thrilled about the other books in the quartet, but Raven Prince was definitely a keeper for me. i hope u like it =D

message 1777: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments I finished Heart of Obsidian (Psy-Changeling, #12) by Nalini Singh too. I really liked it. It's nice to return to romance with a Psy. Marcella, what did you think about the ending.

I also finished a quick YA French Kiss (Diary of a Crush, #1) by Sarra Manning ...finally these are available in ebook for the U.S. I've been waiting forever to read this series and it turned out to be really cute, angsty teenage love. Looking forward to more.

I really liked the ending Kay. It definitely leaves it open for another book. I'm interested to see what the end result will be of the decision that was made. Kaleb was an amazing character. The one thing I'm not sure I understood about him though was whether or not he broke Silence. Especially considering everything he went through and his motivations for retrieving Sahara.

message 1781: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I just finished Joyland - it was very enjoyable. Starting the audio of Angelfall! I am both excited and nervous to be reading it again.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments Finished Beauty Queens by Libba Bray and had a love/hate with it. The humor was great and I laughed a lot but the story went on past a certain point to where the humor started getting old.

Started Traces of Mercy A Novel by Michael Landon Jr. and loving it so far.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments It's July 1st. We are starting a new group read of Mr. Perfect by Linda Howard Mr. Perfect for the month. The topic is up in the group read folder.

D.G. I was totally enraged by a sub plot in Immortal Rider (Lords of Deliverance, #2 ) by Larissa Ione so now I'm too mad to read anything. Hopefully I'll get out of the funk soon.

message 1785: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Got Between You and Me by Emma McLaughlin off NG. Kind of a Britney Spears story. But so many horrible people in it. And I had no idea what motivated the main character. The whole thing felt like an exhausting, pointless exercise in bullying. Wish I hadn't read it.

What subplot are you enraged about?

message 1787: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Tellulah, thanks for the heads-up. I got "Between You & Me" from NG, too.

Making my way through Finding Colin Firth by Mia March by Mia March off NG - wooHOO! Loved her 1st book. This one seems to be just as good... still set in the sleepy Maine town. Colin Firth is supposed to be filming some scenes in that town, so that's the thread that binds the story together.

Also found two more series I like: J Kenner's Stark Trilogy: Release Me (Stark Trilogy, #1) by J. Kenner , Claim Me (Stark Trilogy, #2) by J. Kenner , and from NG (another woooHOO) the 3rd book, Complete Me (Stark Trilogy, #3) by J. Kenner . And it all started with a freebie! I can't tell if I'm non-discriminate when the book has really good steamy scenes or if I'm just going with what I, personally, like. This series isn't the best thing I've ever read, but I'm enjoying it - wrapped up in the characters and their lives. But it *is* another young, damaged billionaire and a younger damaged beauty; so yes, another bandwagon jumper. But... what can I say? I like it.

2nd series is about the Fitzgerald family that started with another freebie: Slow Burn (The Fitzgerald Family, #1) by E.B. Walters , Mine Until Dawn (The Fitzgerald Family, #2) by E.B. Walters , and Kiss Me Crazy (The Fitzgerald Family, #3) by E.B. Walters . More to that series, but haven't finished them yet. While there's a "sameness" of sorts to the stories, the characters aren't cookie-cutters. And the mysteries involved in the 1st two books were decent - not just after-thoughts in-between steamy scenes.

Yes, reading like no one's biz these days... not much else to do when it's 117-degrees outside! But also loving the break.

I need to start writing reviews, though... I'm way behind!

The next book will be interesting for sure especially how will the Psy live now?

About Kaleb and Silence (view spoiler) <---Maybe DG can help clarify this.

I also loved the end when (view spoiler)

message 1790: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 436 comments I thought he did too but I do not remember them mentioning it. I do not know if it was a given since they knew each other since they were young.

I did love that part as well. It was risky.

message 1791: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Hope everyone had a great weekend...

I finished Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell - loved it, until the ending which just pissed me off but I have to say this is a must read for sure.

Now i'm going to read Come Alive (Experiment in Terror, #7) by Karina Halle , Can't wait to get back inside the mind of Dex :)

message 1792: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 436 comments My weekend was ok Leea. I almost burst into flames from the heat here. Geez I hate summer.

I finished reading Jess's Journey (Whispering Pines Ranch, #5) by S.J.D. Peterson and since I couldn't really come up with something else to read, I decided to look through my Nook library and TBR list and decided on The Hob (Gray Court, #4) by Dana Marie Bell .

D.G. We knew the purpose of Silence - we're just trying to figure out the minutiae. :)

Only really powerful Tk (cardinals or really high in the gradient like Jude) feel pain when they didn't follow Silence...it's called resonance or dissonance (don't remember the exact word) (view spoiler)

message 1798: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Thanks for clarifying Silence, DG & Anna. It's hard to keep up sometimes especially since I don't re-read any of these books and it seems that I'm only reading 1-2 books a year in this series. There should be a wiki page. LOL

message 1799: by D.G. (new)

D.G. HAHAHAHA! It's amazing how I remember all the details of this series considering that I've only read them all once. :)

message 1800: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 436 comments Thanks ladies! This helps a lot. There are so many details to remember when it comes to this series. As we are discussing it it is refreshing my memory so thank you!

I just hope the next book is about Aden or Vasiq.
