I can start tomorrow. If that works for you?

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments I'll start tomorrow afternoon then.

Kind of started Surrender (MacKinnon's Rangers, #1) by Pamela Clare without meaning to. I promised that I'd start Lost Girl for the YA group but wasn't in the mood for 2 sci-fi's in a row. And the other book I'm reading is very good, but not really a "sit and blaze through" kind of book, so I need a second one going.

message 603: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Perfect! I can't wait! I love Pamela Clare's Rangers, I hope you enjoy surrender.

message 604: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I just started (in audio) Kiss Me While I Sleep by Linda Howard. It's one of those dual narrations where the woman narrates all the female characters and the man narrates all the male ones. So far so good.

message 605: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments That sounds good DG.

I just finished And With Madness Comes the Light (Experiment in Terror, #6.5) by Karina Halle , it was okay. A lot of repeat conversations, not much that is new. A few very sweet moments with Dex but I was a little unsatisfied.

Now i'm hopping off the Dex & Perry train and i'm going to read Spirit (Elemental, #3) by Brigid Kemmerer . This is such a great series and I need to read this arc before the book is out.

message 606: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments I felt the same way about Madness. Spirit was GOOD!

message 607: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) STACIA, I love, love, love that first Rangers book so much!!!

I'm finishing up with City of Fallen Angels (The Mortal Instruments, #4) by Cassandra Clare . What's up with the 20-page Epilogue? I thought an Epilogue was only supposed to be a few pages? I find myself really getting into TMI, really caring, and then WHAM! I don't quite know what happens, but something always does that irritates the snot out of me, and I stop caring. And I just want the book to be over. I really, really liked the 1st book. But... dunno. I'll have to think on it. But next up is Clockwork Princess (The Infernal Devices, #3) by Cassandra Clare , which I really want to read. Like Wendy, I'm much more into The Infernal Devices books.

Leea, that Dex book And With Madness Comes the Light (Experiment in Terror, #6.5) by Karina Halle was a "freebie" that Karina Halle threw to the fans IF the EiT book (maybe "Into The Hollow"?) made it to the finals in the GR favorites last year. So I took it for what it was. Although, I read it BEFORE Into The Hollow, so it prepped me for that book (view spoiler) So, to me it worked.

message 608: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments Wait... didn't you already read book 4 of MI? Isn't it book 5 you're reading?

message 609: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Wendy, yes - sheesh! I'm finishing up on book 5 City of Lost Souls (The Mortal Instruments #5) by Cassandra Clare . You'd think it was a Monday for me! I think another cup of coffee is in order.

message 610: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments LOL! I got so confused there for a minute. Yeah, that one was a little better than Fallen Angels for me, but not by much.

message 611: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I so wish I could take some time off and just read. Not in the mood to deal with this people at work.

I was home for two days with what seemed like a cold (had fever and everything) but now I have this earache. I've never had issues with my ears before.

message 612: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) D.G., I hear ya! I'm having a BAD DAY all around... not anything major (knock on wood), but rather, just a lot of little things and little irritations that add up to a cranky and out-of-sorts Lori.

I'm scheduling a mani/pedi for me & my mom this afternoon. And a foot reflexology that I got on a Groupon for us tomorrow afternoon. Hoping that and some reading time will make it better.

message 613: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments How fun Lori!! A pre-Mothers day celebration.

DG, I hope your ear feels better those ear aches can be so painful.

Stacia, just so you know i'm going to be reading Spirit very slow - hope that's okay. This weekend is crazy busy!! I can't wait to start reading here soon.

message 614: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 159 comments I seriously don't see how On the Edge (The Edge, #1) by Ilona Andrews is written by the same author of the Kate Daniels series. It actually kind of reminds me of a fanfiction story.

message 615: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments was it not good? or just reminded you of another book? I'm curious because I want to read this book. haha!

message 616: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I am not a fan of that series. Which is disappointing.

DG see a doctor!

message 617: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 159 comments Actually, to clarify, I meant the writing style - not the plot or anything. It seems very amateur to me, especially when comparing it to Kate Daniels.

I'm only about 70% in and I don't even remember what the heroine looks like. Actually, I don't remember if she was even described. Also, the villain is ridiculous - like from a Disney movie or something. And the dialogue that goes with him...it's basically something I would've written when I was in high school.

message 618: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Well, there was a happy hour here at work and after having some wine, I actually feel better (LOL!) I hope I don't pay for it tomorrow...

message 619: by D.G. (new)

D.G. The villain from those Edge books is from the mustache twirling variety. I still like the series though...

Clockwork Princess is my favorite, so I hope you enjoy that one.

I only got about a chapter into the Ranger book last night and got a headache (a real one), so I had to stop reading. Not sure what was up with that!

So sorry Leea, I haven't started
Spirit (Elemental, #3) by Brigid Kemmerer yet but I will within the next hour or two. My kids are driving me up the wall today and not giving me a moment of peace. I want to lovingly strangle them.

Lol...I would love to hear the process of 'loving strangulation.'

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments Stacia (this space for rent) wrote: "My kids are driving me up the wall"

lol...there is this totally bizarre thing which I never knew I did until someone pointed it out, and I've since noticed a lot of men are like this.

If a woman has a head-ache she suffers quietly. If a guy has a head-ache every single person within 300 meters knows about it. I'm actually a little bit better now, I'm not so noisy in my suffering.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments I'm actually surprised that you would ever be whiny. You're always so laid back. Damn internet persona is throwing me off. Now someone's going to tell me that you're not really a superhero.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments Loving strangulation is when you let go before they actually pass out.

Don't worry, it get's better when your children turn 30.

Oh...I am kind of laid back...but I wasn't always. 25 was the age I realized I could be a bit of a tool and decided to stop.

Ohhh, I feel your pain. I only read chap 1, like I said it's going to be slow going for me. Haha! We have baseball, 2 games and I'm watching my girlfriends son. Yikes!

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I just finished the audio of The Moon And Sixpence by W. Somerset Maugham and am starting the audio of The Age of Innocence by Edith Wharton

I am also reading Red Fox (Experiment in Terror, #2) by Karina Halle

message 629: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments What do you think so far of red fox?

message 630: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Read Darkhouse (Experiment in Terror, #1) by Karina Halle Not feeling the love the rest of you are for it. I thought it was so-so. I'll read book 2 because I already have it but at the moment, not particularly attached to the characters. Odd, because it really sounded like my kind of series.

message 631: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Keep reading Tellulah... haha! I think the story builds and as a reader you form a connections with Dex & Perry.

You know, not all books are for all people.

Wine is soooo good tonight... lol!

You're not alone. I gave it a 3.5 but kept my rating at 3 because the start was sloppy and all over the place. I liked it enough that I'll read book 2 because everyone says it gets better, but I liked her first Sins & Needles book better.

message 633: by Ladyhawk (new)

Ladyhawk Dirty by Megan Hart
Was reading the synopsis. Funny how the opening lines are the lyrics from the song "Leader of the Pack".

I was indulging in Prosecco. Both deserved and necessary. I love warmer weather for cold white wines!

message 635: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Prosecco... yum! One of my favs! Also really good in a white sangria to make it "sparkly"!

I was actually surprised that I got into the Experiment in Terror series. It didn't seem like my usual kind of book. But something about Perry and Dex just got me. That's why I'm so glad to find out I'm not alone.

But I can see not being into it, too. I described it to my best friend, who's read all kinds of scary books like Stephen King and was way into the whole Twilight thing. But she wasn't interested at all in EiT.

message 636: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments I was really bored for the beginning of Darkhouse. It wasn't until the second half that I really started to like it. Yeah, for me it was about Dex and Perry.

message 645: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments I finished Laiden's Daughter by Suzan Tisdale which was okay.

I'm currently reading Off Limits (Off Series, #2) by Sawyer Bennett a new adult novel.

message 646: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments the first one, I was a blubbering mess by the end (and I was reading it at work on the night-shift)...this one picks up like 4 years after with flashbacks...i'm only at chapter 8 but it is going to be worth the read I think

Yeah, that book was my first and only K. Hannah book but it was very impressionable. I just haven't picked another book up by her b/c I'm a wuss when it comes to emotions. LOL

All I got to say is that I hope in the 2nd book(view spoiler)

message 649: by D.G. (new)

D.G. So I'm reading this book Kiss Me While I Sleep and I'm having problems with the characterization of the heroine, who's an assassin. So far, not explanation as to how she got into that position - a man I could understand easily with all the testosterone but it should be more difficult for a woman (with all the nurturing instincts and what not.)

Also, I'm not buying all this crap of 'my friends were killers but they were good people'. If you kill people for a living, you shouldn't think yourself as good. You reap what you sow so it's her friends' fault that they got killed.

That's one of the things I like about John Rain books, that he doesn't offer justifications or even thinks himself as redeemable.
