Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments I'm reading The Saint (The Original Sinners White Years, #1) by Tiffany Reisz .

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments I had no idea that the Reisz book was out. I haven't been getting galleys lately or I might have been paying attention that it was getting close to release.

Finished Devil's Game (Reapers MC, #3) by Joanna Wylde and was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I had so many rants and complaints about books 1 and 2 of this series, but felt like this new book finally hit the notes of what I want to read in a MC book (after being burned by so many bad ones). The drama was not overdone for the situation, the female lead was strong and not an idiot like the two previous women, and the buildup of sexual tension worked. Now I can finally feel comfortable continuing the series without wondering why I'm still reading. I'm looking forward to Picnic's book.

Anna (Bobs Her Hair) I've started Beautiful Wreck by Larissa Brown . I'm not finished with The Problem with Promises (Mystwalker, #3) by Leigh Evans . The heroine spends so much of the story in her head. It's an enjoyable place to be, but there needs to be more action and dialogue.

Book three is my favorite of the series so far. I really liked the heroine. She was feisty and strong, without being a bitch. I feel like authors sometimes cross that line with heroines; in an effort to make them look tough, they just end up unlikable.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments She was, Angie!

I wasn't a big fan of book 2 either, but it was slightly better than the first. It wasn't until book 3 that I really liked what was happening.

Domino (aka Meme) (bryghtstarr) | 173 comments had to take a pause on Tied Up, Tied Down. it's a bit boring. so i started listening to Unattainable by Madeeline Sheehan . love this raw and gritty MC series =D

message 6309: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Finished The Book of Life (All Souls Trilogy, #3) by Deborah Harkness The other two books in the trilogy were kind of hit and miss for me but this was a 5 star read.

Domino (aka Meme) (bryghtstarr) | 173 comments finished Unattainable. another good one by Sheehan. next is Up From the Grave (Night Huntress #7) by Jeaniene Frost . it's been a bit since i've read some Cat and Bones. can't wait to dig in =D

I couldn't stand the first book but loved parts of it. I loved the idea of the history, the academia and the group of people working together. I hated the dynamics of the relationship between the two main characters. What made you end up love this book but made you lukewarm about the first two?

I've wondered about that myself. I think it was that I was finally deep enough into the relationships and interpersonal dynamics that the only place to go was playing out everything that had taken two books to set up. Lots of characters but they had purpose instead "hey let's now add these people to the mix."

I also really enjoyed the blood rage/genetics component of the story as well. The characters involved in that aspect added a much needed sense of fun to the world.

message 6313: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Got The Night Visitor by Dianne Emley Solid writing - I just wish the mystery hadn't been exactly as expected.

message 6314: by Angie Elle, BaBAMB!!! (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments I'm in the mood for a good historical, so I started The Captive (Captive Hearts, #1) by Grace Burrowes last night. I'm a little over halfway through, and it's a lot darker than most historicals I've read. Really good read so far.

message 6315: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 159 comments Finished Selling Scarlett (Love Inc., #1) by Ella James which was just alright. Let's just say I'm happy that it didn't cost me anything for the kindle edition.

Going to read either The Bronze Horseman (The Bronze Horseman, #1) by Paullina Simons or The Duke's Holiday (The Regency Romp Trilogy, #1) by Maggie Fenton .

message 6316: by Ian (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments I vote for The Duke's Holiday which is awesome sauce.

I'm just starting The Shambling Guide to New York City...tourism for zombies, should be good, I hope it's good.

The Shambling Guide to New York City by Mur Lafferty

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments I've had Shambling on my list for a while. I'll be looking out to see what you think of it.

Courtney, a few of us here absolutely love Bronze Horseman. *waits for Leea to pop in*

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments I'm starting Tangled Up Crossing the Line\Burned by Megan Hart . Megan Hart wrote one of the stories. This is only my second read of hers, but I really enjoyed my first so I'm excited for this one!

message 6330: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 159 comments Ok, I'm reading Wildest Dreams (Fantasyland, #1) by Kristen Ashley and only 9% in and I'm already skipping paragraphs and pages...It is that bad. I can't even express my astonishment at how it has an average rating of 4.22 stars out of more than 7k ratings. The summary sounded perfect and that's why I bought it so quickly just after adding it to my shelf. I'm speechless. I don't even know if I'll continue with it but I feel like I'm forced to since I paid money for it.

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments I'm reading A Demon Bound...

there are a few things I like about the book, those things are tugging the rating up to 3 stars... but then something happens which kind of annoys me and the rating drops back to 2 stars.

e.g. Nobody enjoys being naked as much as the main character.

She wants a swim... off with the clothes and swims naked.
She wants to intimidate someone... stand in front of her naked and tweak her nipple.
Hot guy comes over...she forgets she's naked.
Investigating a crime and doesn't want to get blood on her clothes... off with the clothes and investigates naked.

Honestly...that stuff is kind of ridiculous.

whereas I HATED her voicing of bones - but then I'd read several books in the series and had my idea of what he should sound like (more like Spike from buffy) than what I got

It sucks when the hero doesn't sound the way you imagined or even just a way you can stand to listen to.

I swear some female narrators think all men sound like they've smoked four packs of cigarettes since birth. I had to return an audio of a book I'd already read because it was ruining the hero for me. I knew if I continued listening it was going to kill my love for the book.

Dee, that's good u liked her narration in other books. u don't have to miss out on other books she narrates. i need to follow some practices of other members in this group who listen to the sample before purchase. luckily Audible allows u to return books u don't like. i don't want to make it a habit though :/

I find the sample doesn't always give you a good idea - for example, one of the demonica books, the sample was the dictionary that was at the beginning, so you couldn't hear any of the characters

How to Marry a Cowboy (Cowboys & Brides, #4) by Carolyn Brown

It's a bit like a layer cake...but with mashed potato instead of cream. My way of saying that some of the elements are surprising and don't quite work.

I have the ARC for Poison Promise by Jennifer Estep on my Kindle and I'm enjoying it so far.

That's about it at the moment. I haven't found anything at Netgalley or Edelweiss lately that fit my reading criteria so I'm making some headway into a few that have been waiting for me.
