Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) The Interestings by Meg Wolitzer What a gorgeous read! I can't recommend this book enough.

Courtney | 159 comments Finished A Girl Like You by Gemma Burgess , which I loved! British authors tend to be so witty and hilarious. There were some parts that grated on my nerves, like how long it took for the resolution, and the ebook had a lot of errors where it was missing part of the dialogue. It was pretty strange.

What did you read afterwards? Because I swear I've started three books this afternoon and none of them have held my interest after it. :P Seriously though, I think certain books are meant to cross our paths at certain points in our lives and I very much needed to have that one cross mine.

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments Finally read and loved Reaper's Legacy (Reapers MC, #2) by Joanna Wylde ! Now it's on to Devil's Game (Reapers MC, #3) by Joanna Wylde !

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Telllulah, I just checked what I read and it looks like I immediately switched back to genre fiction, UF, RS and some favorite authors of mine.

The Interestings has stayed with me, even more than a year later. It is such an amazing story. The marriage of Jules and her husband's sacrifices and her waffling still stick with me. The beauty of the setting of how they all met, just really good stuff. Have you read other stuff by her?

message 6207: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments So I dnfed The Atrocity Archives (Laundry Files, #1) by Charles Stross the story and audio are well done, just not for me.

I am listening to Flesh and Bone (Benny Imura, #3) by Jonathan Maberry -- I am excited because it has taken awhile for this to come out in audio.

I haven't but I definitely want to now. Have you read her other work? I found myself really identifying with Jules and this question of what makes us happy, what is creative success, and, like her, remembering to appreciate what's important in my life.

message 6210: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I know Wendy. And it has been hard since I live with someone who finished the series. :) I just put it back as to read because I am playing Bingo on SOS and I want to read it for the shelf that is called today. :)

Tellulah, I agree. The concept of being happy was fascinating to me. Also the idea of young crushes and evolving or not evolving pas them. And how we can love someone but never be attracted to them.

Several years ago I read The Uncoupling by Meg Wolitzer it was written in the same way The Interestings was - and it was compelling. The book was a slice of this community's life and we got a peek in. But I didn't love it. I plan on reading one of her other books some time soon, but I am not sure which one.

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments Want to read an amazing ghost story? Ghouls Rush In is amazing. It isn't even a ghost story for the first 20%...and it doesn't get amazing until around the 50% mark...but of boy, I'm getting shivers up and down my spine.

Ghouls Rush In (Peyton Clark, #1) by H.P. Mallory

Hahaha, I finished the series and I remember talking about it. I guess that was surprised that you hadn't gotten any spoilers.

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments Heads up for any Kindle users--

I just called customer support because my Personal Documents were not being delivered to my Kindle. While I was on the phone, the woman got an email saying this is a system error on their end and they are fixing it. Thank GOD my Kindle is in full working order!

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments I finished All Lined Up (Rusk University, #1) by Cora Carmack and liked it. It was better than some new adult books I've read but I still don't think NA is for me.

Not too sure what to read next but thinking about The Law of Attraction.

I hope everyone is having a good weekend!

message 6216: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Read Sweet Filthy Boy (Wild Seasons, #1) by Christina Lauren um, yes. Delivered as promised.

Domino (aka Meme) (bryghtstarr) | 173 comments adding The Crimson Spell, Volume 1 by Ayano Yamane to my list of reads this week. this'll be my first manga read. although i love anime =D

message 6218: by Ian (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments Not a big fan of the bishounen (beautiful boy) thing that seems to be quite prevalent in Japanese pop-culture at the moment. I'm having a bit of a break at the moment but for a while I was involved in self defence classes and there was a young Japanese guy there. It used to drive me insane how much time he spent checking himself out in the big studio mirrors.
It's really strange (to me) but there are Japanese men who spend much more on beauty products than women.

message 6219: by Domino (aka Meme) (last edited May 18, 2014 08:59PM) (new)

Domino (aka Meme) (bryghtstarr) | 173 comments haha Ian! too funny. yeah, they are some pretty guys. i'm pretty used to it. and as long as they aren't so pretty they look like girls, i'm cool with it.
i watched this anime in high school called Fushigi Yuugi and i loved it. it had some pretty guys in there too, but all but one was straight and they all loved the main girl lead. i still own that set today. hehe.
this is my first m/m anime, but i read m/m novels and love them. i thought i'd give the anime scene a try in print. i'm liking it too. it has that humor i like in anime.

NA has been incredibly hit or miss for me--mostly miss. I have found a few authors that have worked for me, and I stick mostly with them. The market is so saturated that it's hard to find the diamond in the rough.

message 6222: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments What Angie said! I hate the whole NA - person had to have major tragedy (rape, assault, preggo, death of a BF) for there to be a story

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments Kay wrote: "My reading life has been so blah lately so I haven't been posting much. I hope everyone is having better luck with your reading."

Same. I just haven't been able to read with the same ferocity that I was a few months ago. If I manage to finish one book over a 2 week period, I'm doing good.

About 30% into Double Time (Sinners on Tour, #5) by Olivia Cunning . I realized that I had saved Trey's book for last because it had been published out of order and I wanted to read the books in the order intended...then I never ended up reading his book. So I decided to finally finish out the series.

message 6232: by Angie Elle, BaBAMB!!! (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments The next book from Kit Rocha's Beyond series is 'Read Now' on Netgalley. I think a lot of people in this group have read that. I can't remember. Anyway, it's up for review!

message 6233: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Got An American Girl in Italy by Aubrie Dionne off of NG. I felt like it had a lot of elements that should have played out really well for me - Italy, Italian guys, musician on tour, sweet romance, but ultimately, there was no chemistry between me and the book.

message 6234: by Angie Elle, BaBAMB!!! (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments I started The Morning After (Morning, #1) by Adriane Leigh .

now i'm listening to Hot Ticket (Sinners on Tour, #3) by Olivia Cunning and i love it. this is by far my favorite series of the year so far. it's freaking HOT and hilarious at times. this one also has some deep emotional pain as well. right up my alley =D

i'd have to say yes, because there are references and scenes in this book (recaps) that are explained better in the previous two bks. if u did just pick this one up u could follow, but u would miss the good stuff from the other two.
plus u don't wanna miss bk one. it's HOT too, and that's where u meet all the guys for the first time =D

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Froi of the Exiles (Lumatere Chronicles, #2) by Melina Marchetta - fabulous
The Republic of Thieves (Gentleman Bastard, #3) by Scott Lynch - really good
Worlds End World After (Penryn & the End of Days, #2) by Susan Ee - not bad

Next up a little Christopher Moore. Think I need the funny again.

That's been my experience too, Dee. Although I did enjoy Bite Me almost as much as Lamb. This is the new one Serpent of Venice and the hardcover is so gorgeous, I'd read it for that alone.
