I have to get back into that series. I only read book 1 with the ladies in this group but it was so good.

It's on my list, Regina, but you know me. Once I start a series, I just can't stop! I'm not sure I'm ready for that level of commitment right now! LOL

message 6103: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Samantha, how did you stop? Angie, this is not a long time commitment. You would fly through it in a week or two.

message 6104: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Loved The Immortal Crown (Age of X, #2) by Richelle Mead Everything she writes has been such great reads. I think all I've got left of hers is the Dark Swan series.

message 6105: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments i'm finally going to start Dead Witch Walking - I bought it on my kindle back in 2010 and never read it...

message 6106: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I think it was free then right? That was when I got it. Love to hear your thoughts. I wasn't a fan. I was disappointed since I love the titles and the covers.

message 6107: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments i think so...I need a book for a challenge either set in ohio or california...any other ideas?

message 6108: by Regina (last edited Apr 27, 2014 11:43AM) (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Hmm a ton set in California. Let me narrow my thoughts. Have you read One Reckless Summer (Destiny, #1) by Toni Blake or The Story Guy by Mary Ann Rivers or Laugh (Burnside, #2) by Mary Ann Rivers or
Live (Burnside, #1) by Mary Ann Rivers
These are all ohio.

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Dee wrote: "i think so...I need a book for a challenge either set in ohio or california...any other ideas?"

Have you read Angelfall (Penryn & the End of Days, #1) by Susan Ee which is set in California.

message 6110: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments I'm only 29% into Love, In English by Karina Halle . I haven't connected to the characters yet and I'm not sure if I even like them. It might just be my pessimistic mood. I still have a ways to go so maybe my feelings will change.

I'm sorry you're not connecting with the story, Kay.

message 6112: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I don't think you are going to like it then Kay. For me it was the characters and setting (reminded me of when I both went to college in Mexico and went to a language school in Mexico and then in Italy.) the writing in my opinion wasn't great. So if you aren't loving it due to lack of connection the characters now I don't think it will get better.

Courtney | 159 comments Finished Clean Sweep (Innkeeper Chronicles #1) by Ilona Andrews . Guess nothing can compare to the Kate Daniels series!

Started Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass, #1) by Sarah J. Maas .

Oh...I never actually got into the Kate Daniels series...maybe I'll give this one a go.

message 6115: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I loved clean sweep and I love Kate Daniels. :)

message 6116: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments Kate Daniels took abt 3 books before I was really sucked in

I haven't - I'm kind of scared to because everyone has raved about it and i'm afraid it will disappoint...

message 6118: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments It won't. :) I have heard so many readers have the same worry. It is well done.

Samantha | 419 comments Regina wrote: "Samantha, how did you stop? Angie, this is not a long time commitment. You would fly through it in a week or two."

Haha! I got distracted with other books. I'm all over the place this year with reading. I'm getting back to it. It appears to be a series that can suck you in.

I reserved AngelFall at my library. I was nervous about it too but I want to read it.

Everyone keep telling me about Kate Daniels series. I might have to bump it up.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments Angelfall is so worth the read.

message 6121: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 383 comments Dee, I know what you mean about how high expectations can set you up for disappointment. I really liked Angelfall and recommended it for a group read on a different board. There were mixed reviews there. Some liked it and some really disliked it. A lot. I read it a few years ago or two and didn't pay much for the ebook so it wasn't a big loss if I didn't like it. But I did and bought book 2 as soon as it was released.

Am in the mood for a nice romance suspense and picked up Linda Howard's Kill and Tell (CIA Spies, #1) by Linda Howard

message 6122: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Wow, I have never met anyone who disliked Angelfall!

message 6123: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments I finished Love, In English by Karina Halle and rated it 2.5 Stars. Don't hate me everyone...this book just wasn't for me. I really like the author's EiT series so I will just stick with that.

message 6124: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Lisa let me know how you like Kill and Tell, I need to read another L. Howard book. She's a great writer.

I couldn't sleep this morning so I finally picked up Love, In English. I'm 14% into it and I like it so far. (view spoiler) I do love the slow build up.

message 6125: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I can't stop thinking about Vera and Mateo and mateo's wife.

message 6126: by Angie Elle, BaBAMB!!! (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments I liked the slow build, too, and the more books I read that have that, the less I like the instalove books.

message 6127: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Yeah, I can't stop thinking about them either. Is the ending good or is is sad? I loved the scene where (view spoiler)

Lisa | 383 comments Regina wrote: "Wow, I have never met anyone who disliked Angelfall!"

I know! I was surprised by it. It just proved that not all books that I love are loved as well by others. Though I'm usually very easily pleased with the books I choose to read - hardly every disappointed.

@Leea - yes, will let you know - so far, it's good (circa '98).

message 6129: by Domino (aka Meme) (new)

Domino (aka Meme) (bryghtstarr) | 173 comments started listening to Backstage Pass (Sinners on Tour, #1) by Olivia Cunning and i'm just about done. it is so good. i'm glad i started it.

message 6130: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Okay!

I got to read a lot more yesterday and this morning, now i'm half way through Love, In English and i'm really enjoying the story and this budding romance. 54% (view spoiler)

message 6131: by Angie Elle, BaBAMB!!! (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments I started After Hours by Cara McKenna last night.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments After Hours isn't my favorite by her, but it was pretty good.

Domino, have fun with Backstage Pass. It has no real story, but is a fun smut break!

Lisa, I'll be curious too to see how the Howard book works for you. I've really liked everything I've read from her so far.

I still haven't read a full book this month. Talk about burnout!

BUT...I think I figured that a genre switch was much needed. Before I got into my rut, I'd been reading a ton of adult romance and varying YA, so I looked through my library for a book that was different from either of those and went back to Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk (which I started before, but couldn't get into at the time because I was in a romance mood). So far, I'm really liking it. I got 20% in before I had to put it down, so that's a good sign!

Did book 2 explain more of the world than the first book did? I have my copy of this but haven't cracked it open yet.

message 6134: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments Tellulah - I have books 3/4 of the Dark Swan series on my series catch-up challenge if you wanna do them as a buddy read - I do have the audiobooks (just as an FYI)

I'm enjoying it so far, but it did start off a bit slower than her others.

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments i'm reading Scarecrow and the Army of Thieves - Matt REilly is a total comfort read for me - I know his writing style is very choppy and some ppl don't like it - but I get sucked in

Dee, I'd like that. I just put the first two on hold so if you haven't read 3 & 4 by the time I catch up to you, let's do it!

message 6139: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments just lemme know - i'm in no rush...they are just on the list for sometime this year...I'll probably try to do them a little bit apart - I rarely read/listen to books in a series close together

message 6140: by Domino (aka Meme) (new)

Domino (aka Meme) (bryghtstarr) | 173 comments thanks Stacia =D

finished Backstage Pass and loved it. now listening to bk 2 Rock Hard (Sinners on Tour, #2) by Olivia Cunning

message 6141: by Angie Elle, BaBAMB!!! (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments Is there anyone here who hasn't read 'The Fault in Our Stars' and is interested in a buddy read next week?

message 6142: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 159 comments Finished Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass, #1) by Sarah J. Maas and No Ordinary Mistress (Masquerading Mistresses, #1) by Robyn DeHart . I don't know if I'll continue with Throne of Glass. I felt the heroine wasn't very likeable or relatable.

I have no idea what to read next, probably finish A Study in Silks (The Baskerville Affair, #1) by Emma Jane Holloway .

message 6143: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Finished Love, In English and it was good. I liked how it was a slow build and didn't just end with (view spoiler)

Next up... I may try to read Mark of the Demon (Kara Gillian, #1) by Diana Rowland . I hope to finally start this series. I have so many books on my shelf to read.

message 6144: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 159 comments Ok, decided I'm going to read The Duke's Tattoo (The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse , #1) by Miranda Davis . We'll see how this goes!

Oooh...this book is awesome....in a pendulous sort of way (lol...look for it)

message 6146: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 383 comments @Leea & Stacia - Linda Howard's Kill and Tell didn't quite do it for me. The romance part of it felt too rushed and I just didn't feel it or believe it. I was more interested in a couple of the side characters so will look for a library copy or used book 2 since this is a trilogy, CIA-something.

The Duke's Tattoo looks good and it's a good price.

message 6147: by Angie Elle, BaBAMB!!! (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments I started Hold on Tight by Serena Bell last night.

message 6148: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Beautiful cover.

I just finished We Were Liars by E. Lockhart - powerful stuff!! It was so good.

I am trying to decide which arc I should start Skin Game (The Dresden Files, #15) by Jim Butcher or Laugh (Burnside, #2) by Mary Ann Rivers

message 6149: by Lisa (last edited May 03, 2014 05:01PM) (new)

Lisa | 383 comments I'm reading Crazy Love by Leslie Morgan Steiner that was suggested reading at the women's crisis center where I've recently started volunteering at answering the crisis calls during off-hours. The book is a true story about a Harvard graduate who falls in love and marrying a batterer and her journey through that relationship. It shows how it can happen to anybody. A real eye-opener. For me, anyway. But I'll be ready to read something light right after. In fact, during. My audiobook for outside work and car travel is book 5 of the Zombie Fallout series Zombie Fallout 5 Alive In A Dead World (Zombie Fallout, #5) by Mark Tufo

message 6150: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments just finished Dreams of Gods & Monsters - I liked it but didn't love it - i wasn't a fan of the whole Far Isles storyline - that just didn't really work for me
