Oh man. I have been looking for a good Robin Hood retelling.

Courtney | 159 comments In truth, I didn't get much of a Robin Hood vibe from the story. So I wouldn't recommend it if you're looking for a Robin Hood retelling. Scarlet (Scarlet, #1) by A.C. Gaughen was better, in my opinion, but YA.

Really? I didn't get that impression. If anything, I felt like it was a new chapter in Ty and Zane's relationship.

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments I just started Rock Chick...honestly I've been a little underwhelmed by KA but I'm doing this as an audiobook and I'm kind of enjoying it. All those strange stream of consciousness moments she does kind of work in an audiobook.

Rock Chick (Rock Chick, #1) by Kristen Ashley

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments Finished Unsticky by Sarra Manning - mixed feelings, both good and bad. I can't completely fault a book though which allows me to make a joke about someone's gaping chasm.

I haven't loved the other KA I've read but I certainly had a lot of fun with this series.

There are some really great moments. I mean Kumar's tears of joy when Indy comes into his shop and buys the stuff she needs to make macaroni cheese. The hairy guy talking about his cat sitting business and how he believes cats should have both wet and dry food.

So many laugh out loud moments. I'm loving it.

message 5813: by Ian (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments Ha! I noticed a status update from Stacia describing Grace and the Dauntless as being like a weird episode of Bonanza. I'm thinking that means not as much love for the book as I have.

I'm only at chapter 3, but so far I'm hooked! I'm also just about to start Stay which is a buddy read for another group.

Grace and the Guiltless by Erin Johnson Stay by Allie Larkin

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments Oh no. I didn't mean that I didn't like the book. I'm liking it so far. I was just hoping that the revenge notion will end up being more like the movie The Quick and the Dead (which I LOVED) than an episode of Bonanza. So far, I think it's got elements of both.

Still haven't had a chance to get very far in yet though. I'll probably read more over the weekend. I might try to finish my read of The 100 first, since I've had it on my currently reading for a while.

hmmm.....I just went through a strange christian moment. Preacher was all, "you have to forgive those who done you wrong". Damn I hope this doesn't end up being Pilgrims Progress. meets Bonanza 'coz I think if it does, I might feel ill.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments I doubt it because the plot would stall without the revenge angle. I want her to fall for one of the gang members.

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments I've been reading The Last Hour of Gann by R. Lee Smith for many days now and I'm only 39% in. It's a looong book. It's going ok but I think I need to take a break and pick something else up.

I might need to cut my challenge too so that I don't feel so stressed out each month to knock out all these books.

I hope everyone had a good weekend.

Which of the two Persephone books was the one you loved, Stacia?

message 5836: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Devoured Murder of Crows (The Others, #2) by Anne Bishop and now kind of wish I hadn't read either in the series because who knows how long I have to wait for the next book. Just loving this so much. Bishop does an amazing job of crafting characters and a world I just want to hang out in.

message 5837: by Peggyzbooksnmusic (new)

Peggyzbooksnmusic Finished Ten Big Ones (Stephanie Plum, #10) by Janet Evanovich by Janet Evanovich Gave it 3 stars. Learned more about Ranger but not enough Morelli!

Also read A Beautiful Blue Death (Charles Lenox Mysteries, #1) by Charles Finch by Charles Finch #1 in the Charles Lenox cozy historical mystery series set in Victorian London. The mystery was only about 3 stars but bumped it up to 4 stars as I really liked the main character and the descriptions of Victorian London.

Goddess of Spring (Goddess Summoning, #2) by P.C. Cast Which was paranormal romance mixed with magical realism. The first few chapters are super annoying (and the multiple Batman references were silly), but once it got past an awkward start, I fell in love with the story. I thought it was a wonderful take on soul-mates because it was about two people connecting by getting to know each other from the inside out.

I liked the other book too, but the other one was straight-up porn without plot and not a romance book like GoS was. I knew that going in though because that's Selena Kitt's style. I'm actually surprised at how much mythology she managed to fit in for a book about mostly sex.

She is really good at writing characters and developing a story. Have you read her other series? I need to read the last in the trilogy: Queen of the Darkness (The Black Jewels, #3) by Anne Bishop

So I am 50% in to Sunrise (Ashfall, #3) by Mike Mullin and it is freaking brutal!! I had to put it down b/c it was so brutal. Realistic, good but harsh.

I also started Hell on Wheels (Black Knights Inc., #1) by Julie Ann Walker I googled -- what should I read if I love sons of anarchy and that came up. It was also compared to Troubleshooters in terms of character building. So, I'll let you all know.

message 5841: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I saw on JR Ward's facebook page that some countries released The King (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #12) by J.R. Ward early!!! Yikes, there will be spoilers everywhere. So who is buying it? I go back and forth.

message 5842: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments I'll wait to buy it. But I do want to read it next week. I'm excited to get back to Wrath and Beth :) Maybe this will get me out of my funk...

Yes. A friend turned me to that trilogy last year and I thought it was wonderful. So I figured going into Red that I'd be in for a treat.

message 5846: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments :) I need to finish it. Did you like the third?

Wendy, Sunrise is good -- but wow. I might not pick it up for a few days.

message 5847: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments I can't wait for The King! Hopefully, I will start it next week.

I've been MIA lately b/c I haven't really been reading. I'm still slowly working on The Last Hour of Gaan but just have no motivation to read. Maybe The King will get me out of my funk.

Eeek... I'll have to see. Sometimes I can handle Brutality and sometimes it's too much for me.

message 5849: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) I did. I don't know why I didn't rate or review it but I def read it. I loved Daemon and Janelle's story - I remember the book being very tense and extremely satisfying.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments I have a couple of galleys to get through first, but I'm sure I'll pick up The King next week sometime. If nothing else, BDB is familiar and fun, so the books are easy to get into, even the weaker ones.
